Oh and btw, got myself a D80. D40 now with my girlfriend smile.gif

Finally, can have decent pictures of myself. You know how photogs always end up with very little pics of themselves. Tsk tsk tsk.

hi guys, sorry if this sound cliche but I was looking for a cheap tele with macro capabilities. Should I get,

a) Sigma 70-300mm APO

or

b) Nikon 50-200mm VR + extension tube.

Thanks for the advice.
*
Get a real macro lens better.
Sigma 105mm or Sigma 150mm give an awesome output of macro photos smile.gif

i would go for the option a) Sigma 70-300mm APO,

you may wanna look at

tamron SP90mm (with nikon mount with AF motor).

it gives u 1:1 macro, but u only get 90mm tele.

SP90 photos really poison grumble.gif

Yes.
70-200 VR won't drop below RM 5,500 for a new unit. But for 2nd hand, it will most likely around RM 4,800 - RM 5,000 smile.gif
*
Owh, thanks..

the wish that hadly to be granted, 70-200 VR below Rm5000.. laugh.gif

Thanks, so many choices for macro lens sweat.gif. Then there's tokina 100mm. I wouldn't be able getting macro lens at my current situation since I got just enough for zoom lens. Maybe another year or so. That's why I need to buy zoom lens with macro capabilities. Thanks mindkiller for your suggestion. I'd look into it.

Just found another technique, 55-200mm with reverse ring + 50mm. Reverse ring seems cheaper but sure is a little difficult and risky imo.

Well, the Tamron SP90 is not that expensive although still more expensive than the 70-300mm Macro.

Because 60mm is too short for bugs shot. At least thats my believe. And the Tamron SP90 is possibly as sharp as the 105mm for a fraction of the price.

At the end of the day you're using a Macro Lens to shoot other things... definitely cannot compare to zooms or primes etc.
