mindkiller>> mind to share how u trigger the sb600 offshoe with D40? smile.gif
*
QUOTE(orenzai @ Aug 22 2008, 12:02 PM)
set the sb600 to slave mode...
*
hehe.. it is a trick actually, the Sb600 has slave mode, but it cant be trigger by D40 alone,
I need the SU-800 optical trigger or some other optical trigger, or SB-800..

I dun have any of them,

so I put my d40 on tripod, setting a long exposure time, 10seconds,
release the shutter, i go to the flash and press the "test flash" button.. laugh.gif laugh.gif ,
i tried few shots as i need to extremely careful not to move the flash, and i need to be fast so that my hand wont be captured.. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Sadly, the price for SB600 went up since last month..
Because of Petrol hike ?? mad.gif

All shop in Subang Parade, Sg.Wang, Lowyat, Pudu Plaza is selling around RM750-800 now..
Fotokem staff offer me RM780, or above, their price is different for each branch..

I manage get my unit at Digitals Mania for RM730..

it is a little bit way of my budget.. but I am glad that i got my poison cured.. whistling.gif whistling.gif

i guess i might follow his flash setup,
but i will use 50mm 1.8 + raynox adapter to make it life size, or at least close to it.. sweat.gif

QUOTE(dani_irwan @ Aug 28 2008, 11:42 PM)
Last weekend, I got to play around with my friend's 450D and her EX450 (Canon's speedlite, not sure if the model name is correct or not). It was my 1st time trying out a speedlight...so syiok one! I was bouncing the flash left right and centre, haha...also off the ceiling! The potrait shots I took simply amazed me...a far cry from the built-in flash for my D40, which produces pics that look like passport photos, haha. Suffice to say I'm really poisoned to get an SB-600 instead of a 55-200mm for my next upgrade smile.gif so in short bro, try out both things 1st (speedlight and additional lens) b4 u decide.

QUOTE(mizivincible @ Aug 29 2008, 12:16 AM)
I see, will scout around this weekend, if got no better offer sure I'll get back to you okie.
Will definitely trying out the Raynox first before jumping to higher end macro lens. Judging from the pic you taken by Raynox, it was so niceĀ  icon_rolleyes.gif
I see, yeah, SB600 is the speedlite that doesnt burn the hole in wallet yet performing wise. I really love the bounce flash. Today went to photoshoot skate competition in my college, the built in flash for my friend's D40 wasnt sufficient at allĀ  cry.gif

both of your deserve this... whistling.gif whistling.gif

if u ask me, i would say get the sb600 first, then only get the 55-200mm VR..
flash has so much of usages not just for portrait shooting..
the 55-200mm VR has a small aperture in 200mm, either u need higher ISO, together slower exposure time.. or u just fire the flash gun,
of coz u won't fire flash gun if u are stalking the birds.. that's why birder use large and fast tele lens.. lol...

Hey guys, is RM1400 a good price for a second hand Nikon D40 kit? It still has a few months of warranty left, and the shutter count is around 2K+.

I'm very new to photography so I'd like to try D40 first before upgrading to better cameras biggrin.gif
*
that sounds kinda expensive..

how much is d60 price nowadays ??

and lenses weight more in photo quality than camera body..

but if the af-s 50mm really 2.4k, i think i will go for the 105mm VR, at least i can do macro and portrait with that..

well.. that's if i have the money lah.. haha.. lol.

1:1 macro + 31cm working distance from 105 vr..

50mm+ Raynox maybe get 1:1, but i think u need to go much more nearer to the subject..
