Last weekend, I got to play around with my friend's 450D and her EX450 (Canon's speedlite, not sure if the model name is correct or not). It was my 1st time trying out a speedlight...so syiok one! I was bouncing the flash left right and centre, haha...also off the ceiling! The potrait shots I took simply amazed me...a far cry from the built-in flash for my D40, which produces pics that look like passport photos, haha. Suffice to say I'm really poisoned to get an SB-600 instead of a 55-200mm for my next upgrade

so in short bro, try out both things 1st (speedlight and additional lens) b4 u decide.

I see, will scout around this weekend, if got no better offer sure I'll get back to you okie.
Will definitely trying out the Raynox first before jumping to higher end macro lens. Judging from the pic you taken by Raynox, it was so niceĀ
I see, yeah, SB600 is the speedlite that doesnt burn the hole in wallet yet performing wise. I really love the bounce flash. Today went to photoshoot skate competition in my college, the built in flash for my friend's D40 wasnt sufficient at allĀ

both of your deserve this...

if u ask me, i would say get the sb600 first, then only get the 55-200mm VR..
flash has so much of usages not just for portrait shooting..
the 55-200mm VR has a small aperture in 200mm, either u need higher ISO, together slower exposure time.. or u just fire the flash gun,
of coz u won't fire flash gun if u are stalking the birds.. that's why birder use large and fast tele lens.. lol...
