Since the AF-S Micro Nikkor 60mm f2.8 G ED N is a new one with the Nano coating and all... that would be a good choice for macro shoots.

For the 85mm, 50mm lenses, wait for photokina... rumored that new versions of these lenses to be released.

Regarding macro lenses, if only using for product shoot, why not hunt for a 55mm f3.5 micro AIS lens? With extension tubes, it'll still cost less than 400 ringgit. Damn cheap if not a bugger shooter

Bugger shooters need longer lenses. Heard Sigma 150mm + Raynox can get quite stunning results.

Zio : All this while your macro shot really tempting, are you using SP90 ? Can the lens shoot good panorama and potraiture ?

AIS lens will have no metering in D40/x/D60

No metering and no auto focus. Not really a problem la (depending on what you shoot). For product / still life macros, how hard is it to guess the shutter/ISO/aperture, then snap. Check the pic, change a bit, snap again. To save around 1.3k (compared to the new 60mm AF-S), why not?

Btw, AIS lens will meter on D200/D300 (and I assume the other pro bodies).
