By the way, I was really surprised that average rental for a HDB with 3 rooms costs $2k per month. That's why I was questioning whether my salary is on the low side.

HDB flats to Singaporeans are what double storey terrace in KL/PJ are to Malaysians (in terms of affordability & supply). If you look at it that way, the rental is about the same.

My younger brother who just got a pre-employment offer letter with a civil engineering company upon graduating, also get $2.8K per month!!!!  doh.gif But he's a NUS student. So maybe he is entitled for higher pay...

If he received an offer before he graduated, he should be quite terror lah. You do your thing, he do his lor. Why compare? As I said, get here first, get your PR and then you are free to change employers and pick & choose your job.

Well, during the interview, my interviewer, who is also a managing director aka my boss looks very down to earth to me... For that whole 2hrs+ interview  sweat.gif , he makes sure that I understand my job scope and duties. For the last 30mins, he showed me the entire office and briefly introduce the staffs.

No matter how humble he is during the interview, he still the BIG BIG boss, and I'll can only find out his true characteristic once I start work.
Thanks all for your kind words. ya, what you guys said are right! I should not be comparing my salary with my singaporean friends who are also in the same industry. Come to think of it, it's better this way as I dont want to create jealousy among my few singaporeans friends.

it really depends on the market demand. If you are in a market with high demand, it's time to jump ship if others are giving a better deal.

Here's a brainstormer of an idea... How about staying in... wait for it... Jurong East??? rclxm9.gif

Loads of flats around the MRT station, if I'm not mistaken. There's a nearby shopping center too.

Emm...well, I feel that if you converts currency to M'sia Ringgit, then ofcoz it's cheaper by RM50 to RM200 depends on spec range. but you might feel it's not convenient when you want to claim warranty unless you have international warranty to cover you.

i dont think the laptop price in SG is definately cheaper than in MY. i brought a XPS from Dell Malaysia laz year, and the totally same specs model in Dell SG is around rm500 more expensive after conversion.

it might be better to survey around 1st.

Generally better to buy dell from malaysia rather then from singapore or other countries. Maybe coz main asean center is in malaysia.

Will be buying a new pc for my parents when dell ships win 7 on their machines.

Hi, I wanted to ask.

If personal income tax has already been paid in Spore, do we still need to pay or declare in Msia? Thanks.

Business Oriented? More like industrial area.

Jurong East is sure far from city. At least an hour to Orchard! But the rental is slightly cheaper.

I thought your brother was studying here. Can't you bunk with him for a while until you find a place to rent?

Plenty of place la, just that you really have to come down here yourself to look for it, otherwise just hire an agent, save all the trouble but be prepared to pay half a month agent fee to the fellow.

not sure if the "2500 posts per thread" rule is still being enforced, but this thread is nearing the end of V2. someone can take over and start a new V3 by copying the info on the first page and other relevant info in other pages to the new thread.

enjoy and stay healthy.

No. Overseas income is not subjected to tax here in Malaysia. But i believe you will have to declare it to Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN) but you will NOT be charged a cent.
