I don't know what you mean by "explosive," but yes, dips are pretty much the only part of my routine that I enjoy.

my dips seems like going worst when my bw increase
last time can do 3x5 reps easily

now only can do like:
1x4
1x3
1x2

anyway to do with it to improve?

No clue. I clench a 20-kg plate between my legs when I do dips these days for 3x10. I'll probably try to up the weight if I ever get myself a dip belt (unless Ego Nutritions has them back in stock now!).

Just had a closer look. If those were my chests, I'd do close-grip bench presses now to grow the inner chest near the sternum. Others may correct me if I'm wrong.

or military push-ups/close grip i think...a variant of push ups can help develop your chest muscle...

Haha actually, the heavier you get, obviously dips are gonna be tougher right? Cause more weight to bear smile.gif

What you can do is on your last rep, when you reach the top, lower yourself down very very slowly, (around 7-10 seconds). This will help improve your dips. It's called slow negatives

Also there isn't really such a thing as 'inner chest' haha. Close grip bench press is usually done to focus on the triceps

OK, OK, I went and dug up the info that connected close grip BP with 'inner chests':

actually there is such thing dude...it hits the triceps AND your chest as well...same goes to closegrip pushups/millitary pushups...the only thing that differentiate them is how you do it...wether it'll hit more on your triceps or chest...

Yeah, I agree that large muscles (such as the pecs) have different 'zones'.
I once tried flexing the pec with my arms in different positions. Different 'zones' of the pec are tighter.

I never understand the grip width for bench press. If you want to get the most ROM and activation, just do close grip.
I don't believe the pecs work less on close grip compare to wide grip. It should be working more due to longer ROM.
Using a wide grip on the bench press is like so not worth the effort.

The only exercise where I can feel grip width makes a difference is push ups.

I'm somewhat skeptical about that bro, I did some research myself about this topic before, and the consensus is that wide grip works the pectorals abit more, while closer grip works the triceps more.

QUOTE
Hand position

    * Varying the width of the grip can shift stress between pectorals and triceps. A wide grip focuses on the pectorals. A narrow, shoulder width grip focuses more on the triceps.

wiki

QUOTE
Grip has an important function with respect to bench press. When you grasp the bar at exactly shoulder width or less, you are forcing most of the angle of motion to occur in the elbow joint rather than where your upper arm meets your body. This means that more tension is shifted to the triceps muscles. A close-gripped bench press is often considered a triceps exercise, even though the chest is still somewhat involved (any movement of the upper arm with respect to the torso will involve the chest).

I find that wide grip benching does work on my pecs and anterior delts more, but perhaps the grip mechanics vary for different people. Dumbell presses are still my favourite chest exercise though (standard grip of course).

while doing dumbbell press trying utilizing a different grip. on a flat angle try using a grip in between neutral and pronated, the lower the angle(decline) the grip should be more toward neutral and vice versa.
i've got this from reading jim cordova's article and i've tried it out. i can really feel my inner chest working more compare to when i was using standard pronated grip.
