no service since last week. lodge report. TM contractor came. replace/rewiring fibre cable. have to pay RM529 (23mxRM23 per metre). said it was outside TM responsibility. contractor also said TM will rebate RM50 per day for loss of internet. Is this true?

Question:- why must I pay for rewiring? contractor claim fibre cable damage (reput?). i am only using unifi for 1 year (2 years contract). before was Digi Fibre for 2 years. possible they didnt change cable when install Unifi? can I report to MCMC? can I report to TM why need to pay contractor?

sounds worth it.. I paid RM159 for 300Mbps 2yrs ago (now RM119 for 500Mbps).
don't compare with the super lucky ones here who gets RM119 for 1Gbps, though..

Good sharing for current SWU offer. Imo if you do not need the speed of 1gbps, the Rm119 plan is more than enough.
Maxis is as reliable as Unifi, can still steadily load websites and do streaming when others are screaming hell about Unifi poor connection at night. The speed cap is done by TM side. for example I subscribed 100mbps can only get around 94-95mbps, whereas same infra on Unifi get 105mbps. Hence sales person always use this point to counter people switching out from Unifi to make ppl feel bad about their competitors.
*
That's scummy.
300Mbps is enough for now but 1Gbps for RM159 sounds worth it in the future. To be able to get that speed with SWU 2 years down the line, I'll need to take the 500Mbps now, yeah? Still thinking about it.

Yes. You either need to take the unifi mobile (6 months) or the TV (3 year contract).
Also you need to be using certain Maxis postpaid plans to be able to get the limited offers.

They of course will not change cable if your existing cable is still good when you transfer from Digi. Just imagine the time and cost involve if they have to rewire cable for all transfer installation. You pay got any receipt or not? Should call up 100 to report about the payment, and ask for rebate if the payment is actually not necesary.
Contractor just boolshiting you, rebate is Rm50 for that whole month bill, not Rm50 per day. You can definitely lodge report to MCMC.

this looks like inside your compound the fiber has issues. If they ask to pay rm500+ it is better to get your own contractor and build better fiber.

If it is outside your compound it is free.

From my experience, TM only cover damage to their cable leading to your house, usually cable inside your property will have to be charged for replacement/repair, that said RM 529 is quite expensive, if it's not a long run, do ask TM if this is standard pricing.

paying same price or cheaper with unifi but again getting higher speed (no matter what reason) surely it will make ppl go for unifi instead. not to mention that if there is any issue with the service, only involve one part which is unifi to fix that's it...

seriously no competitive advantage for maxis at this stage. probably maxis customers on postpaid if there is additional benefits that make real competitive advantage then it is worth it....

Hi Noob here.

Enquiring for my folks place.

Recently got upgraded from 800mbps to 1gbps package.

Unifi came to replace existing modem+Dlink DIR-X3060Z x2 (for downstairs and upstairs) with a black combo box by Skyworth AX3000.

As a result, got okay speed for downstairs, but since only 1 combo box was provided, the upstairs Dlink cannot be used already and now from the upper floor can only connect to the 2.4GHZ channel which is super slow.

I asked for them to provide a upstairs solution as well since previous setup was for both floors. I said a free upgrade should cater for both floors as well.

Otherwise I would see it as a downgrade overall. Anyway they insisted only 1 equipment. Installer also mentioned the exisiting Dlink cannot be used as mesh with this Skyworth box and told to get a Deco mesh wifi system instead.

Just like to check with anyone familiar, if the 2 dlink devices (DIR-X3060Z) that I have now can in fact be used with this Skyworth combo box or not. Or should I just get a Deco mesh system.

Why don't you revert to your prev setup? After the installer left, I just plugged everything back to the way it was.

You mean the previous setup is good enough to support the 1gbps speed?

~940Mbps max.

Max speed is probably the same with the Skyworth ONR.

Also, it's very rare to be able to get the full 1Gbps on Wifi so yea my previous set up with the X3060Z is good enough for me.
