need some advice from 3850 owner here, how was the noise level that produce by the stock 3850? wanted to get a silent system... was thinking should i go for active or passive cooling version of 3850... beside, was it very hot via stock cooling fan? I mean no OC.

None at all...noise was pretty quiete and temperature is low without any fancy cooling(stock version sapphire)...this card uses less power and ultimately generates less heat...IMHO absolutely no point to get a commercial cooling solution if you are not going to overclock... QUOTE(§layerXT @ Dec 4 2007, 01:28 AM) yup i agree coz the performance difference between 29xt and 3870 is not big enough to justify an upgrade..on the other hand, if ure going from 29xt -> lets say 88gt or new 88gts then it's worth it because those two cards from nv sure kick both 3850 and 3870 in terms of performance, and not to mention higher overclocking headroom than their ati's counterpart... |

Thanks for your info, will see how much diff between the active and passive version of 3850 in term of price IMHO absolutely no point to get a commercial cooling solution if you are not going to overclock... |

QUOTE(mmohdnor @ Dec 4 2007, 12:00 PM) yeah, that might not be a 'noticable' upgrade lah .. but the power consumption decrease should be noticeable .. ya...but seriously the colour of the image change oso noticeable |

IMO... ATi vs nVidia in terms of performance... nVidia wins, in terms of image quality, ATi... seriously...
about gameplay... ATi tries keep maintaining good image quality (IQ), unlike nVidia tried keep good gameplay frame rate... actually, it's unnoticeable until you tried both ATi and nVidia... |

haha i tried both ati n nvidia, gf2mx -> radeon 9800 -> 6800gt -> x1950xt -> 88gts, for me, the IQ when i moved back and forth from ati and nvidia were unnoticeable, but what's important for me, is performance and overclockability
