Hmmm, friend told me that he saw lowyat selling SAPPHIRE 3850 256MB at RM599 for this week. Said was promotion.... hope the price drop lower after the announcement for the price slash is truth. Hehe then can consider the 3850 512MB with heatpipe!!!!

need some advice from 3850 owner here, how was the noise level that produce by the stock 3850? wanted to get a silent system... was thinking should i go for active or passive cooling version of 3850... beside, was it very hot via stock cooling fan? I mean no OC.

QUOTE(frags @ Dec 4 2007, 12:12 AM) None at all...noise was pretty quiete and temperature is low without any fancy cooling(stock version sapphire)...this card uses less power and ultimately generates less heat... Thanks for your info, will see how much diff between the active and passive version of 3850 in term of price IMHO absolutely no point to get a commercial cooling solution if you are not going to overclock... |

I'm just wondering, is it very significant diff between the 3850 256MB VS 512MB in term of performance and future game support? I understand for higher resolution, the 512MB will be better, but let said I'll only kept it under 1440*900?
Beside, using a 19" wide screen shouldn't be able to set higher resolution, will the 256MB version good enough for gaming? |

http://www.kkk.com.ua/?p=245 Did anyone ever had any comparison between PCIE 1.0 vs 2.0 on 3850? |

QUOTE(Createmous @ Dec 18 2007, 11:50 PM) Yeah, kinda expensive if compare to normal mobo. But you could find Biostar or Asus mobo that have PCIE 2.0 around RM320-380. So after all, could be extra RM40-60 which was still considerable for mainstream usage |

wow... read some new info.... sorry that I only found the chinese sites.
Look at the heat level.... but strange that the gigabyte HD3850 only have 1.4GHz memory speed.... so was wondering the performance wise as compare to ATI reference card. http://diy.yesky.com/vga/47/7742547_6.shtml http://diy.yesky.com/vga/350/7736850_6.shtml This post has been edited by cvshi515: Dec 29 2007, 02:43 AM |

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Dec 31 2007, 08:50 PM) I prefer IceQ over Zalman anytime haha, honestly, the design wise. I totally agree with you, the ICEQ looks so cool!!!! But gigabyte did put some effort on these Zalman version where it used some low power losses component where you can see on the previous link i sent. Where your system will run cooler and more stable due to less power draw from your PSU.Also, in overall, I did some reading for HD3850 Iceq where the full temperature was around 65-75++ can't really remember http://diy.yesky.com/vga/47/7742547_6.shtml But sure one advantages on Iceq was that, it can act as a cooler blower fan that exhaust big part of the hot air in your chassis, but this can be done by the normal blower fan where some of our friend here did it anyway. No hard feeling, this is just my thought |

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Jan 1 2008, 02:29 PM) Heh, it's alright. I always feel free to receive any comment, suggestion, recommendation and even critic. Isn't this is the purpose of forum and the reason this thread is here? No worries mate, thats why everyone is here I doesn't really know much regarding Zalman's cooler, but one I know that it gives some decent performance and many users like it very much. However for me, due to personal preference, I doesn't fancy much with the design of Zalman's cooler As long as it doesn't overheat and at a very good working temperature, I'm happy with it as most probably I wouldn't go for any OC on the card itself |
