QUOTE(vearn27 @ Dec 1 2007, 10:15 PM) So, yet the 8800GT still p@wn this HD3870 in single-card battle With the RM200~300 saved, you can easily purchase a 3rd party cooler, which would pretty much solve your problems.HIS not releasing IceQ Turbo version for this HD3870? |

I wonder how HIS will representing their Turbo version of HD3870 |

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Dec 1 2007, 09:38 PM) Hehe, if u r amatuer... then I'm noobie found a chart of power consumption between 3870/CF & 88ooGT/SLiI do read the same thing as well... but if the differ really ain't that significant, I may opt for HD3870 which offer lesser heat and power consumption. Nowdays games optimized for Nvidia's, nothing weird if their FPS and score higher than ATi's in benchies ati using lesser power cLick This post has been edited by gengstapo: Dec 1 2007, 10:54 PM |

QUOTE(choyster @ Dec 1 2007, 09:53 PM) Your're comparing a 3850 with a 1000 buck card? 8800GTS has 320bit memory pipeline! Of course it wont outperform a 8800GTS...different category...But it clearly outperforms a 8600GTS which is around the same price range...At the same price range...nothing by NVIDIA beats the 3850...8800GT is about 300 bucks more expensive... QUOTE(choyster @ Dec 2 2007, 05:14 PM) I'm using 19"ws so high reso i think not a problem for me and i dont on AA but for more future proof 3870 would be my choice Well...if you can afford a better card than i would say always go for the better card...As for future proofing it...well you know we all cant predict the future...The life span of a particular technology depends on the consumers tolerance levels(lower details) and the extent of exponential improvement of technology...like this year is perhaps one of the biggest leaps in graphic card technology(software and hardware)..My 7600GS lasted(for me) for only a year compared to the famous Riva TNT2 in the past which lasted longer for me... Go for the 3870...it will serve you well..just make sure you have the requirement for it okay? Its a dual slot solution make sure got space in your PC... |

Take a look HERE.
HD3850 can be overclocked from 670 MHz to 776 MHz for the RV670 (+16%) and from 833 MHz to 1050 MHz for the GDDR3 (+26%). HD3870 can only be overclocked from at 775 MHz to 839 MHz for the RV670 (+8%) and from 1125 MHz to 1270 Mhz for the GDDR4 (+13%). The GDDR4 was certified to run at 1200 MHz in the first place. So...which card has the best bang for the buck? Up to you to decide. HD3870 is roughly RM150-RM200 more expensive. Added on December 2, 2007, 9:27 pmOh, and in case you are even tighter on budget, here is something to look forward to. This post has been edited by clayclws: Dec 2 2007, 09:27 PM |

QUOTE(coolice @ Dec 2 2007, 09:32 PM) not sure about 3850 butt 3870 core can clock up to 900MHz and 1350MHz I'm not sure that is on stock cooling. The article from Tom's Hardware shows overclocking with stock cooling. If you are going to spend RM100-300 for additional cooling, might as well spend the money on a better card like the 8800GT or 8800GTS 512MB or something. You may also achieve higher overcloking results with the HD3850 using the cooling that you are using, assuming that you are not using stock cooling. |
