yup i agree coz the performance difference between 29xt and 3870 is not big enough to justify an upgrade..
on the other hand, if ure going from 29xt -> lets say 88gt or new 88gts then it's worth it because those two cards from nv sure kick both 3850 and 3870 in terms of performance, and not to mention higher overclocking headroom than their ati's counterpart...

not to mention if u oc teh 8800gt..
that shud smoke the 2900xt even more

haha i tried both ati n nvidia, gf2mx -> radeon 9800 -> 6800gt -> x1950xt -> 88gts, for me, the IQ when i moved back and forth from ati and nvidia were unnoticeable, but what's important for me, is performance and overclockability

i used to own x1950xt and when i changed to 88gts i didnt notice a difference in IQ, how's that??

only in 3dmarks it seems
but in prey, lost planet <- games that favour nvidia, it can only catch up with 8800gt but not 8800gtx

anyone still remember the dual chip ati rage fury maxx back in 1999..
if im not mistaken, it's the 1st dual chip gc for end user...
tho, it cannot beat teh geforce 256
