Me try on M3 Pro 5G (signal detected full 5 bar) hotspot, other device wiFi connect only able to get ~30Mbps DL, not worth/competitive to real router! though Phone had higher signal reception quality.

How you can get below RM 400 for M4 Pro 5G? I tried lowest also RM 620. Look forward to your feedback on this also as I am trying to get a cheap 5G phone as mifi.

Due to DNB's bad taste and selection to choose Ericsson, avoid China branded chipsets such as Unisoc, Balong(Huawei) and ZTE if possible.

The most compatible 5G modem chipsets you should lookout for phones and fixed modems are Mediatek or Qualcomm's Snapdragon based ones.

This is until ZTE and Huawei is given the chance to build the 2nd wholesale 5G network in future. Until then avoid modems/phones which uses China branded ones.

They never learned even after TM's failed HSBB network which until today tries to monopolize the entire nation's fixed fibre network. See how our national wholesale pricing for fibre broadband lines unable to progress forward and lower significantly in pricing due to bad monopolistic prices. PH is moving forward by allowing TNB Allo and TIME now to service landed homes instead.

DNB was the same thing dog biting back its own tail move.

Sorry to say I disagree about your opinion.

Bad decision in chosing Ericsson? Based on what? Based on your choice of phones?

To share out as wifi router ? None as all cheap phones come with low end chip, you are not going to get high speed.

My Galaxy S23 has tri-band wifi chipset, that one can get high speed wifi.

Anyone already using the "officially"- U Mobile recognized ZTE CPEs MC8020 and MC801A?

If wanna spend on a 5G modem router, I'd rather go for these two models than those "EE", "3" etc. etc.

Hi. Happy to report I subscribed to U Home 5G and using it with ZTE MU5120 without issue. I can get full bar signal from high floor condo. Average speed btw 200mb-400mb DL. Sometimes can get more than 500mb DL depends on time of the day. Which is more than enough for steaming content and work.

Been reading this topic and at first feel a bit overwhelming on the technical discussed here. So if anyone like me, hope this helps.

I just sign up for this package. On 5G full bar, I can achieve 450Mbps on iphone 12 on fast.com. 4G 3 bars also pretty good experience in my hilly area.

The next problem need to solve is how to bypass torrent block.
My maxsheet 4g no restriction on torrent.

Will monitor this setup for few weeks see will meletup or not.
Else just fork out monies for tp link x50 5g habis cerita.

Hahaha funny
Dont misled ppl
Direct compare apple to apple. Three uk was using zte 801A before change to newer and better 3 branded zyxel 5103e.
801a is using x52 platform while the bew 3 branded router us using mediatek T750 platform

On the other hand, the newer model from ZTE is 888 series, which use x62/65 platform. Therefore, not really savvy if follow umobile suggestions only.
Why umobile suggest obsolete model? Becuase ZTE didnt bring in newer model into malaysia yet and got a lot old stock lo

Therefore, if chossing between 801a and the three model, three one is newer tech
Ee one is using older mediatek chipset i believe

Siram…

You will get better performance on a newer ASUS router

The AC68U USB performance is kinda poor.

But… at the cost of buying a new ASUS router, you can get a proper 5G modem router. Might as well keep it

If not mistaken the other variant of 888 is using Qualcomm X62 modem.

5G CPE that using Qualcomm X65 or X70 modem very hard to find (may be too expansive and not exists yet)

I also noticed from forum Qualcomm X55 modem had issue, what issue I not sure, may be too hot ?

yes…888s unisoc and 888 x62, 888 ultra x65

yes…expensive. ppl rather go for mediatek t750 platform.

u see tplink put a fan inside x50 5g (x62 chipset) then u know how hot it will be for older x55 but higher performance.

so i really recommend those ppl who using fanless qualcomm chipset 5g cpe turn off its wifi and wired connect to another router as access point to offload the wifi chipset heat. of course you can use a fan if u don't want so hassle.
