It has been two weeks now using UHome 5G. Now I have bought the NR5103E 3 UK version, I am quite happy with the speed and stability. I disabled the wifi for the Zyxel modem and use a spare Asus AC59V2 as AP.
Using the Zyxel modem, the speed is around 300-390Mbps but using the Asus router via AP I manage to get consistently more than 500Mbps

May I check if you put the modem indoor? Able to find out how is the signal reception in the indoor setting and what band it’s connecting to?

modem placed on the 2nd-floor hall. This model can lock the 5G band and I set it at N78 for 5G and B28 for 4G

Guys.
Why not just buy a 5g phone then hotspot it to a wifi router?
Wouldn't it be cheaper?

Your phone fried first. Too hot and battery consuming.

if die die want to use hotspot, maybe can use:

1. usb tethering, not all router can support (high end phone only got usb 3.0, else will be limited to usb 2.0 speed)

2. usb-c to ethernet dongle (also limited to usb speed)

The speed shared out by the phone via wifi, will be much slower than using a proper modem. Unless you use high-end phone with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/6e chip

Think depend on the signal on location. I have since upgraded from Asus router to 2 TPlink X50 PoE as AP, one on the ground floor and the other master bedroom. Significant improvement in stable connection and speed

Cheaper Yes. Long run it will impact with battery life span. Cheaper 5g phone usually with USB2.0 connection for device tethering.
So, you max speed is bottleneck... unless market available with 5G dongle. that much more cheaper soon...

originally I also had this idea to buy a cheap 5G phone and used as modem router。But after survey, the cheapest 5G phone costs around RM600。After some thoughts,I dropped the idea。

How you can get below RM 400 for M4 Pro 5G? I tried lowest also RM 620. Look forward to your feedback on this also as I am trying to get a cheap 5G phone as mifi.
