I’ve a 256gb iPhone

Since I do backup every few months, is the 256 ssd package sufficient or should I get 512? I don’t do gaming or editors on laptop, just casual browsing and entertainment

usually my iTunes/Photos app libraries/data are on an TB3 NVME external drive, even for most software like Office, etc.
only certain applications that is directly tied to the default installation location in someway, which requires a lot of symlink/hard link to move them off to external drive are left in its default location.

hence I usually just get 256gb storage Mac, no problem backing up my 256gb iPhones smile.gif

confirmed not enough. if u really need to do the backup on the ssd itself, u need at least 512GB. unless u set the itunes backup location to an external HDD that is in larger capacity.

Hi everyone. Just ordered a MBA and eagerly waiting for it to arrive.
I'm wondering how long will it take to arrive to my doorstep.

My configuration is the 8-core GPU version with 16GB RAM.

Bought from online store? Usually, it will state estimated delivery date when you purchase from Apple online store.

Not required so far as the website doesn't need any proof of documentation to upload before purchase. If bulk purchase using education store, then I believe it would trigger them to ask for validation.

My experience w M1 MacBook Air’s battery usage:
- Started off by charging to full 100%
- Left idle for the night
- Main app: Zoom (total 11-hour classes)
- Other apps used: Firefox, Mail, Whatsapp
- Using WiFi
- Brightness level:(medium) 8 boxes
- Audio: Headphone jack
Left w 24%

Excellent battery life since you are using Zoom application which is a power hungry resources and you use it for 11 hours.

Try use icloud backup and you will your iPhone back up will have smaller size. That’s because all the photo will backup in icloud and it not necessary take a place in your devices.

p/s: the icloud subscription can use across all apple devices including iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Also, it can use for your devices backup, photo backup, email storage, icloud drive, etc across all the devices.

Hi all sifus,

I purchased my MBA M1 end of last year, so far was happy with the performance and this is my first MBA.

I would like to ask any of you here purchase additional charger for your MBA? Any 3rd Party brand that is reliable and won't cause a hole in your pocket? And if I would like to get one which is sharable with my wife iPad Air 2020, what Watt should i get (30W, 45W, 60W)? Appreciate if any of you can enlighten me.

Thanks and have a good day.

Selamat Hari Raya...

This is good. Im currently using this for both my MBA and iPhone charging in office. Original charger i keep at home for house usage.
I bought uGreen USB-C cable 100W for my MBA to pair along.

For this adaptor, both the USB port are distributing different Wattage. 1 is 15W and the other is 65W.
It doesnt matter if you plug in the 65W to your iPad, the device is smart enough to draw only required powers for charging purpose. Wont explode, don't worry.

Hello all.

I am a MBP user since early 2014.

My MBP is the late 2013 model and I am still using it now in fact.

Just that it has been a bit dated, the performance of the mac is not as good as before (of course, it has been serving me for a good 7 years + now already), and that the battery life has worsen.

So I am thinking to get a replacement unit.

question is, should i go with the MBA or the MBP?

Honestly, i feel my MBP has been quite under-utilised over the past few years. I have been doing very little amount of work like photoshop, lightroom, vid editing, etc. my mac is mainly only an entertainment MacBook, which I've been using it to surf the net, youtube, WhatsApp, netflix, etc mostly. (very seldom do gaming on my mac)

I also have a company laptop for my work, mainly on word doc, excel and PPT, etc. so i don't really work on my mac.

I guess the answer is quite clear no need to go for the MBP if i'm going to continue with only these light usage right? what do you think?

Further question is that, if i decide to for go the MBA, does the 7 or 8 cores GPU really matter? for the base model it is RM4399 vs RM5399 for the extra core plus another 256gb of SSD storage. Do you think it is worth the upgrade?

My current MBP is 256gb ssd only. which is just ngam ngam for my use. Won't mind paying a little extra which can benefit me for the next many years to come, right?

My current MBP could still do the job at least for now, guess I will be getting it once it gives up on me. I hope my next mac could last me many years as well.

Thanks for reading my long post.

Just get this M1 MBA would be sufficient for your usage. Easily overkilled for these usages.
Get the 8cores GPU if budget allowed, rather than regret later.

If not urgent, wait for year end new model, second generation ARM processor.
