Was looking to get a Dell XPS 13 but this MBA is looking good as well. The stellar battery life is really enticing me. Despite the slightly larger footprint and b e z e l s on the MBA compared to the XPS 13, I'm willing to deal with it as a tradeoff for the battery life and hopefully the performance matches up. Hopefully the performance isn't too bad with thermal throttling. Will wait for reviews.
Based on my experience on iPad Pro, i think m1 chip can solve the thermal issue at all.
Should be no problem. But my opinion is to upgrade to 16gb for long run usage.😆
I think 8GB is good enough to use for the next 5 years....just my thoughts...
I do have concerns on 8GB RAM especially come to open/working on huge Excel file. Considering the machine instructions are different now with ARM, i think RAM will make less sensitive compare to the X86 framework OS.

This video convinced me to go for the M1 Macbook Air. Currently I am using a 2011 Macbook Air with 4Gb RAM and opening 40-80MB excel files are a pain! Looking at the video makes me think that it is time to replace it with the new M1 MBA.
yeah right? see the speed on open up excel file...damn powerful this M1 chip...
Hmm, what you mentioned about early reviewer is basically showing they are biased though. The Forbes highlighted several incompatibility issues that objectively can’t be disputed. Unless it’s an isolated case for that reviewer.
I guess I will wait out instead of buying this in December. Which part? Some are specific to user preferences (external display etc), but incompatibility with the programs he mentioned look legit.
right from the beginning on the IE installation already not showing logic thinking
The article seems to be very lopsided and may only represent a really small percentage of Mac users - it was widely reviewed as not friendly to non-Mac native app (though performs well with Rosetta) yet he choose to ignore it?
Anyways as someone that uses 100% mac app (Final Cut Pro, Safari) for 95% of my workflow, 5% (photoshop & lightroom), I think I will have no problem with M1 at all! Cant wait!
to be fair, for those who want to use Microsoft Edge/Third party softwares or software that can run only in X86 framework, should just stick to INTEL/Windows pc/laptop....they shouldn't consider Mac at all...

Yup. It's like eating using legs. If die2 must use Windows software, go for Windows OS la. Why wanna make life difficult?
Because they want to prove the balance...many people say good then someone need to point out the bad... but the issue here is the bad not relevant at all

Hi wta anyone here do trading in the stock market? Can apple product use trading websites like Rakuten etc without any problems? Sorry new to mac stuff .
coming from windows user, 1st time using Mac here, this mouse thing is quite different between 2 platforms.
To scroll page down, by maintaining mouse scroll down.
Windows trackpad - push up mouse - scroll down
Mac trackpad - pull down mouse - scroll down
I know there is a setting in mouse/trackpad for the natural gesture. But when I changed the setting in trackpad, it will subsequently change the mouse setting in meantime.
Did I miss something?
I just cannot use a normal mouse after using the macbook trackpad. Mouse become unnecessary. Maybe because I didn’t use my macbook for video/photo editing.

No need mouse. I do my Illustrators and photoshop, mini clip video editings all on my trackpad. Not to mention some office documentations as well. Mouse, its so yester-decade.
seriously? I thought that's only me. I did tried a few mouse and still cannot adapt to mouse....then I gave up to try....unless play games la...
for those whom are seriously consider a mouse for 27" monitor and above, I would suggest you get a trackpad....mouse is just too small in 27" monitor...I dun know how to explain but Magic Mouse work okay in 24" monitor but not 27" monitor....trackpad? yes, it just work very well.
