QUOTE(arshad @ Sep 1 2020, 03:21 PM) For the price its ok. I think for prebuilts with rgb they're one of the top. Non rgb alternatives Leopold and Filco. Haven't touch b4 so can't comment. But YT reviews seem ok. You can buy a custom assembled from AliExpress or Taobao also. Cheap cheap rm600-800. |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « i will stick to this epbt double-shot abs. i prefer the sound and feel of this combo, compared to jtk coca-cola. all standoffs on this tray-mount case are covered with 1mm eva foam, to reduce the hard spot effect. the bottom case is stuffed with 2 layers of typical anti-slip mat obtained from mr.diy. |

QUOTE(PalakOtakHang @ Jul 13 2020, 01:06 AM) i posted here time to time with another account. Now change account because privacy invaded matter How are you liking this board so far? Which set did you buy btw?anyway i just built this keyboard 'gateron brown with springs changed to 55g, switch film added, springs lubed with 104, stabs band aid+clip, 4mm eva foam between pcb/backplate and everything else lubed with 205. A lot of building processes which I thought was easy, turned up to be not. The major mistakes i did were - soldering quite a number of switches without the switches fully touching the PCB. Luckily i realized something was wrong before i proceeded to solder more switches. I learnt that it is very difficult to push the switches 'into' the pcb. My fingers are hurt now because of it. -cutting the foam to put between plate and pcb. I ended up giving up and put nothing in between the plate and pcb. Have to be very precise in cutting the foam to leave enough space for each switch and stabilizers, but I failed miserably. All the shapes i drew by aligning the plate to the foam were all incorrect due to the stretchy nature of the eva foam and also not drawing exactly at the edges using pen. I wasted most of my time here. I feel that Gat browns lubed are indeed overly light for me as oppose to be using MX Blues which I think is heavy. Might have to change all the switches to heavier ones in the future I had bought some 3mm LED bulbs, but havent soldered them yet. The led holes are at the lower part of the switches. I tested the leds through the holes with a lithium bat, but the effect is like very disappointing. All the letters/symbols are floating towards upper part of a key cap. I think last time someone asked the same question, but now how ah? I didn't know because I see the mx switches in razer mkb are all upside down one. XD Also, the taihao keycaps im using dont have R0 1U Ctrl, FN, Alt and numpad 0 & R4 Delete, End and Page Down. If my grail fullsize board doesn't materialize in a group buy in the next few months, I might consider the Melody 96. |

QUOTE(niakulah @ Aug 19 2020, 01:47 PM) Cherry plate mount stabs just arrived. Just an update. I installed these over the weekend.[attachmentid=10555668] Less than 3 weeks to get to me from US. Not bad. Firstly, Cherry stabs are tight in the plate! Zero wobble. No need for any tape. I had trouble getting the sound nice with what I usually do whichi is just lube, clipping, and bandaid mod (I used cloth tape this time btw, not to be confused with fabric bandage tape). So I ended up trying this mod: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmOSSqpHAws I also used cloth tape with this mod. I cut mine to be about 2mm x 11mm. Silenced the wire very nicely. There's a bit of extra resistance to it, which I don't mind since I tend to slam my mod keys down anyway. Very happy now with my keyboard as a whole. Love the sound and feel of all the keys except the numpad plus....that is just the odd shape I think. I f I put other 1x2U keys in there, it doesn't sound as bad. Might bring my keyboard home next weekend to see if I can do a foam mod inside the key to dampen the sound. horns liked this post

Given that I was using Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2013 with MX blues, of course it is better, but dont take my word for it as I dont have other boards to compare with. I want to change the switches and add foam in between plate and pcb. Also relubing springs because bag lubing is inconsistent, some keys got the pik pik sound. If my grail fullsize board doesn't materialize in a group buy in the next few months, I might consider the Melody 96. What is your grail full size board? |

After experiencing it, I wouldn't want to build a keyboard without it.What is your grail full size board? Interesting, I don't have any issues with my current board which is has bag lubed springs. Of course, I didn't have any pinging in the first place. Any full aluminum full size with USB C and programmable PCB would be acceptable to me at this point....maybe if they re-ran TX108SE. Or if HEX.6C ran a non-southpaw version. Or F1oodgate. Whatever, just gimme my dam fullsize. Lol. This post has been edited by niakulah: Sep 9 2020, 01:23 PM |

Agreed with horns, except for the fact that you'd be hard pressed to find full size customs.with the right basic tools, building customs is actually a relatively painless experience. I'm using an IKBC F108 since it is relatively cheaper, but if I'm looking to spend that kind of money on a prebuilt(I'm not), I would go for the full aluminium IKBC MF108 v3 instead of the Steelseries which has a plastic bottom case. Edit: Oh and if you think Steelseries prices are crazy, check out high end custom kits like from Keycult. https://keycult.com/collections/june-2020-p...-2-tkl-preorder This post has been edited by niakulah: Sep 9 2020, 01:27 PM |

QUOTE(gxthelord @ Sep 9 2020, 05:32 PM) Hi anyone know who does mechanical keyboard repair? buy a soldering kit, and switches ? (they are pretty cheap , and you save a lot of money and hassle sending the keyboard to the Repairman , and then wait for repair usually 2 - 3 days (i think) , then another 1 - 2 days for courier to deliver it back to you? or COD but need to be at weekend, or after the Repairman finished his day job...?Mainly to remove and solder few switches. Possible at KL region got any recommendation? I at first also tried looking for people to help remove and replace switches, the charges are fine, but you can never know which switch later start to act up after got the initially switches you found are double chattering. at first it was only 5 switches, then later it increased to other area (alphabets) and just yesterday (spacebar). Before was only the numpad area, only numbers, then later the *, - , + , and ENTER, including NUM LOCK, then /. it kept increasing, so i bought the switches from Shopee, bought the soldering kit too, get some scrap board , practice on desolder and solder, and when i am cofident, i open up my keyboard , Logitech G613, and desolder the switches and re-solder the new switches. Save up the workmanship cost, they charge per switch about RM9 if you provide the switch, and RM15 if you didn't provide the switch, mine was for ROMER-G. ''Typically for Cherry type switches it's RM10/switch (parts and labour) but I do have a minimum charge of RM25 coz it takes roughly an hour to open up the keyboards and put them back together after assembly. So typically it's RM25 for 1-2 switches, and RM30 for 3 switches etc'' , said by GRexer (Puchong) as for KL, i think will be around that price range too... what keyboard btw? I have the soldering kit actually and was attempting to change the switch out of my roccat previously. Somehow the solder just wont melt even changing to new solder pen tip and bought the suction pen as well ._."I at first also tried looking for people to help remove and replace switches, the charges are fine, but you can never know which switch later start to act up after got the initially switches you found are double chattering. at first it was only 5 switches, then later it increased to other area (alphabets) and just yesterday (spacebar).
