Need recommendation on stabs.
Currently have cherry pcb screw ins on a 64.
Thinking of building a 84 quiet keyboard with Sakurios.
Current cherry stabs go down nice and quietly but when it tops out on the upstroke there's a "thocc" on the spacebar which I am trying to avoid if not too expensive.
Durgod, everglide or any other reco?
What does the gold plated stab wire do?

Would say Everglide, but they have an issue with wires popping out sometimes. You just gotta match the wires to the housings to see which side fits better. I would say it's a manufacturing tolerance issue.

As for the gold plated wires? Well, it's like wearing a flashy underwear where it can't be see when you put on pants. laugh.gif They don't really do much, perhaps, a little better in corrosion resistance since they are plated, but yeah, honestly, no difference. icon_idea.gif

Thanks this helps.
(Might get you to solder and lube for me in the future)

Are ducky brand good? planning to get one.. or any other recommendation for TKL mechanical?

For the price its ok. I think for prebuilts with rgb they're one of the top.
Non rgb alternatives Leopold and Filco. Haven't touch b4 so can't comment. But YT reviews seem ok.
You can buy a custom assembled from AliExpress or Taobao also. Cheap cheap rm600-800.

any physical stores or online stores i can get custom/special keycaps? thinking of spice up a little on my rk71!
*
From cheap to expensive (more or less) .
Taobao
Aliexpress
Lazada
Taihao
https://shop.tai-hao.com/products
Ilumkb
https://ilumkb.com/collections/groupbuy
Zfrontier
https://en.zfrontier.com/collections/groupbuy

Be carefull with whats in the kit for the bottom row.
What you have now is prolly oem profile. Other profiles available like cherry, sa, xda...
Generally pbt better than abs except for gmk or maxkey SA keycaps.

Ultimate rabbit hole is geekhack.com

Expensive but creative design thou. shocking.gif
Drop keyboards have double keypress and poor stab issues. And the magnet feet slips off if you move the kb around. But pretty lah.
I feel better build your own with kbdfans stuff.
I got a few pre orders coming next year. Have to tell myself to stop buying kits and keycaps. Research properly, build one and stop. No one needs more than one kb per pc.

Thats how I end up having 6kb and 3 more otw for 2PC and a notebook. Wasting money only. But the last one I 'built' /modded was very satisfying.

Another noob here smile.gif

I have not used a mechanical keyboard before, never tried it before.

I've read reviews that MKB can help in ergonomics. With the COVID around us, I'm currently working from home, and seeing if there's anything I can do to improve my home office ergonomics.

I was looking at Logitech G512, then switched my interest to Ducky One 2.
I read that Logitech MKB are usually more expensive - due to the fact that they do a lot of advertising, which I agree laugh.gif
That's why I started to look at Ducky.

I'm also thinking that it would be good to get a wireless MKB, so I started to look at Keychron K1. Too bad Ducky doesn't sell wireless ones.

Any suggestions on good wireless MKB? I'm wondering if there are any good ones besides Keychron. If you want to suggest Logitech G912/913, IMO they are quite expensive  sweat.gif

Budget wise, RM 500 is a good start I guess, and I'm planning to go for brown switch as a start. I won't be playing games with this keyboard, just for work purpose.

Thank you!
*
AFAIK the ergonomics are the same unless you get ergo mkb,
like this
https://kbdfans.com/collections/diy-kit/pro...eyboard-diy-kit

If you can wait, this seems like a decent rm400ish
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/epomak...anical-keyboard
Loads of reviews on Youtube.

Keychron also good choice but many have stated that the high tilt angle isn't too comfortable.

Try this.

Caution: Too much lube will make the keypress mushy.

400 bucks better top up and buy ducky, filco or leopold.
Or even spend less and get ikbc

RM400 is the max for me. I am still not hardcore enough to buy higher price KB.
*
I understand. There should always be a limit.
What I'm saying is, at rm400 better get a Leopold TKL (rm489) or Ducky SF (rm449) and you will have 180% better product minus the RGB on the Leopold. Maybe next time.
Honestly not much diff between rm209 Tecware Phantom elite and HyperX especially if you lube.

If you still want backlit, in order of quality (comparison is with CM stock keycaps):

https://drop.com/buy/drop-skylight-series-keycap-set
Feels better sounds better

https://shop.tai-hao.com/categories/pbt-dou...backlit-keycaps
Feels better sounds about the same
Also look at their rubber keycaps, pretty good for WASD.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/40002107363...earchweb201603_
Pudding. Never tried but should be about same feels as CM.

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/free-shi...5938372611.html?

https://ymdk.aliexpress.com/store/group/Key...ad_11129997.1_2

Above 2 are from the same company.
Feels and sounds the same as ABS. They're ok to get if you're on a budget and you're really going after a colorway change.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/MYMECHMARKET/
This is worth a look.

NON Backlit
Drop, KBDfans, ilumkb, zfrontier en,

Lazada, Aliexpress and Taobao have more. You slowly look lah. Most will be roughly same quality like from this YMDK company or worse.

If you're going after feel and sound improvement, I suggest you lube instead. Night and day difference. My gamer friend was thinking of changing board for a while till I lubed his CM. Now he's super happy and content.
If you're going for a change in colorway then yeah go for it.

NOTE: I have tried SA keycaps on a CM board before and they dun fit because of the north facing LED. There's a chance thicker wall PBT keycaps might not fit. If you can find used Ducky keycaps, they're actually quite good.

Dude........ I'm gonna need you're help soon for the Mojo75 with either GMK Toolbox or KBTools.
But gimme a week to build first.
ATM I have 6 standoffs but I find 8 holes in the plate/PCB. So I'm slightly confused. Gasket mounted and I guess latest version Mojo75.

You don't need to screw anything on the plate. The accessories kit they've provided is quite confusing. Just apply the gaskets and affix the plate with your switches and sandwich the plate with the casing that's all.

As for QMK, the board is already preloaded with it, try to go through the online configurator at qmk.fm and compile or export your keymap json before going through QMK Toolbox.

Install the needed drivers and go into bootloader via fn+backspace. Toolbox should be able to detect the board.

I saw your post on discord smile.gif

P/S: Are you krayden the pilot? Haha, just curious.
*
So ok, no need to install the standoffs at all.
I can get to the json and export to hex phase. I'll PM you when i get to the Toolbox stage.

Haha yes that's me. How you know? Previously only the ICE guys would know me.

Hi,
Is there any wireless mech keyboard user here ? May i know how is the input lag nowadays except Logitech lightspeed?
*
Looks like Lightspeed really no lag. As for others, I have a Corsair K63 which has a USB receiver. I'm no pro gamer but I never felt any lag. Your mileage might vary. Bluetooth really cannot use for FPS gaming.
