Recently my G613 got few keys starting to not responding, double type, or even triple... ( numpad area ), including the Enter Key from Numpad too... when it's not working, i pop off the keycap, blow into it, and it works for a while before back into not working. same for other keys... what's wrong?

I used Contact Cleaner, alcohol too.

it should be dust. usually. if this is the case you can just repeat the air blowing part when it happens again.

however if you are ok with desoldering, you can just desolder, open them up, then clean them up
*
I am looking at solder kit sold on shoppe...

those one with a bag... inside it has the solder wire.... ( is that what you call them )... will that be okay for use on soldering keyboard switches?

if i remember correctly... i read somewhere that the solder wire has size and must use xxmm on certain soldering on pcb.

Solder you can use 0.8mm or 1mm. If smaller than that, you will have to keep feeding solder to tip; If bigger, you might face difficulty melting the solder. You don't want your solder iron to be too hot too because will damage PCB.
*
This one says adjustable heat..... not sure about the solder wire diameter....

Do i need to put a thin coat on the switches bottom pin before inserting into the pcb?

How hot is too hot to avoid damaging PCB?

you can search this thread with keyword 'solder'. we talked about this just recently, with some reference on which solder wires to use.

about size, i use 0.6mm because it's comfortable for me to solder switches and led.
*
not very versed in soldering terms... lol....

same here hahaha

however, a temperature-controlled soldering iron, good solder wires, and a good desoldering pump allow me to manage my custom builds much easier now. still lack of practice, but can get the jobs done lol
*
those solder kit in a bag cost about 40 - 50 is good?

what you use?

I only done once soldering back at high school , and i think it's been 8 years since then. I not really sure how to desolder and solder.... Youtube makes it looks easy... but i afraid i might mess up and destroy my keyboard's pcb, like the pad (contact hole on pcb ) raised... any idea to avoid that?

My Keyboard is G613, it's mounted on a plate ( i think it's metal painted in black ), and i read somewhere after desolder , have to use some plier or tweezer to remove and gently too....

lol... how to avoid that? how it got damaged? too hot? or the soldering iron touched too long?

and got specific solder wire to use? or the one included in the kit is sufficient?

I hoped you used some kind of blower instead of physically blowing into it. Our breathes has water vapour in it, technically accelerates the oxidisation process.
*
I used Visbella Electronic cleaner, and then used hair dryer in cold to accelerate the drying.

It works fine for a day and then back to no register, double/triple type.

If you had used some form of contact cleaner, it's fine, just don't go blowing our breath into the switches, albeit, it's a common mistake most of us do.
*
Will remember that.... you do soldering before?

May i ask your opinion on which switch is better durability/lifespan? Romer G, or Cherry switches?

if you're worried then maybe can get GRexer's help. I recently got his service to desolder a Poker 2 PCB, the man did a damn great job!
*
Oh... i bought the soldering kit, might as well experience it myself first. how much he charge per key? i also bought a bunch of Romer G switch from Shoppe.....

personally find that the 0.6mm Mechanic solder works great. also tested 0.8mm before and it was too thick

I'm extending the same offer again. I have a lot of extra and I'm not building keyboards anymore. so if you wanna, come collect from me, just return the leftover when you are done.  icon_rolleyes.gif

0.6mm? with resin flux core? i am looking to buy it and keep for future uses if needed.... any brand will do?
Thanks for your offer though smile.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm on the market for new keyboard. Currently using Logitech g513 but this keyboard already double typing, rgb not working, and not registering input sometimes.

Originally want to buy either Logitech g813 or Corsair k95 platinum xt, but reddit enthusiast said both are shit keyboard manufacturer and said only ducky keyboard make the best mech kb.

I want to ask where else to find ducky kb other than shopee and lazada because both brown keys I want to find are sold out. I specifically want the ducky shine 7. Thanks
*
Hi, I want to ask about your Logitech G513 keyboard problems, same as mine G613, except it doesn't have led.... how many keys you have now? Mine have 10 keys.... most Numbers (numpad with NumLock key ), right arrow.

Never heard of that brand so I'm sceptical
Don't understand the question. G513 is a full sized kb so I have all the keys
*
I mean how many keys you have problem with now? I have about 10. Mine's G613

Switches and soldering tools arrived few days ago, soldered new switches in, works okay...

The older switches which i suspect have double click actually is fine, i used greases, and carefully put on four corners of the housing, and some thin layer on the actuator, and carefully not touching the contact pins... and soldered back in, and it's been very responsive like when it's new.

The keyboard now works fine.

I experienced de-soldering and solder it back with everyone who helped giving me tips and guidance , and now i am not that nervous , and surprisingly it's pretty easy.

the switches :

- the switches quality looks totally legit, with different plastic texture compared to factory switches, but they are 100% identical with G Logo and omron logo, no defects of any sort.

Do switches need greases? is it key chattering due to dried up greases over the years?

I lubed with automotive greases on ' double registering switches ' and it's back to okay again... confused.gif so, the switches are actually faulty or just need lubing?

I dissembled the new switches i bought from china and there's seems to be some transparent greases on the actuator... so it must be when over the years, the greases will gone from all the pressings?

I read about the terms ' lubing the switches ' for cherry switches, does that also to all switches of all makes? like Outemu, Cherry, romer-g, Gatereon?

normally, stock switches are pre-lubed at factory. however, the amount is minimal, and only covers few areas in a switch.

key chattering is not really due to the absence of lube, but the presence of dust.

yes, we do lube our switches to have better typing experience. (sound and feel) it's one of basic modifications that can apply to all switches. techniques and lube used depend on switch type, and own preferences.
*
I see.... i opened, the lube is thin and only cover the actuators, the side housing where the friction is none.
