I tried 2x RM30k with Wise to SG Bank before in one day. No problem, no flag, no hold or request for docs.
MoneyMatch will ask me submit doc/bank statement online for savings/salary type though.

Most of the time is just transfer once a day.

Nice. Didn't even know you could send 30k as Wise has a 'RM20k limit in it's account by end of day' which isn't clear so I would transfer 15k each time, convert to USD within Wise then initiate transfer within IBKR. The conversion rates today, Sunday were better than on Friday (although it could simply portend that USDMYR would drop next week)

MoneyMatch may have the lowest fees but can be a hassle

i have done 7 x RM30k into IBKR via wise consecutively, no problem at all.

what you need to do, is in IBKR, deposit fund, via wise, key in amount. OK.

Then go to wise app, review transaction, and do FPX or manual bank in.

Voila, money should be in next business day. I give it around 2 days to have money in.

For those looking at this, in IBKR there are 2 ways to deposit funds through Wise - via Wise Balance and Bank Transfer via Wise. The method outlined above applies to the 2nd method. Also note the banks' 50k daily transfer limit - so 2 x 30k will need to be from two banks

even though 2 banks, it's still the same wise account right? either
  • limit is more than RM30k, or
  • they forgot to enforce it on website

Like how all dividends are paid in IBKR. Paid your account inside IBKR. IBKR can hold multiple currency under one account.

Just update here this afternoon compare to online XE rate. Wise around 0.69% difference. Sunway money and money match around 0.6%. WISE direct to ibkr in usd around 0.6%...I will try Wise to ibkr directly. Do I need to initiate from ibkr or just do it from wise directly? The setup done previously.

this post made me recheck the wise/moneymatch/duitnow rates and surprisingly, Wise is cheapest for 2 days now

Hi, so did you manage to find a solution to this problem? I've been using tiger sg and very happy with their mmf features but looking to diversify using another trading app. Reading this about IBKR is quite a letdown, tbh.
*
No solution for now. Hopefully they'll reduce the minimum back to $1 because it is a ridiculous rule. If a rich man received a $9,999 dividend, IBKR shouldn't say he can't put that into money market simply because of the $10,000 minimum.

Another problem with IBKR is they have a 60 or 90 day hold on any newly deposited cash. Last year I deposited SGD100 for testing purposes. After that I tried withdraw it back into an SG bank and the system doesn't allow because of the hold. Hotel California - you can check in any time but you cannot leave... whistling.gif

Despite the flaws, IBKR's low $0.35 brokerage (US market) is fantastic for high frequency traders. If you trade options, some will say IBKR is better than other brokers. I use IBKR for access to London's VUAA/VUSD and will continue to use IBKR. However for US and SG stocks, Tiger and Moomoo is perfectly fine. Tiger gives so many cash coupons but I rarely trade. Some of the coupons won't expire until 2026. The other day I bought $77 of fractional shares, paid $0.77 in brokerage fees and received $5 cash back! Screenshot below - it is unbelievable. In nearly two years, I suspect I've received more cash backs than brokerage fees.

  • earliest is before midnight east coast time so before 12pm malaysian time
  • you'll pay the same price as everyone, someone checked the time of purchase and the price he paid is not the same as market price of that point in time

lol they have always been manipulated. After 5 years of investing, you realize one thing: Companies delay bad news to be released as late as possible, and good news will always come out first.

So, these days I take company announcements with a pinch of salt. Just buy an index fund in an efficient market like the US and call it a day... Use the extra time that would otherwise have been spent on researching individual stocks to date with girls... laugh.gif Way more "fulfilling" and enjoyable.

Warren Buffet can storm into boardrooms and compete for directorship positions, we lay investors can't do anything except sell when the ship has sailed...

It's never a fair game. You realize that after some time.
