Heyo, I am about to open a directly-registered share account with Air Liquide.

I emailed Air Liquide shareholder service department this morning, and submitted the proof of details for my Wise EUR account and they accepted that!

I am not yet a shareholder but they begin their email with "Dear shareholder" laugh.gif

Lovely French...

Damn, I just realize France has a 0.3% Financial Transaction Tax on purchases of securities... (on top of the 0.1% brokerage fee...)

Hmm anyone purchase French stock before? Can share if IBKR charges the 0.3% FTT on your purchase of French stocks?

Pretty sure there must be some LVMH and Hermes shareholders here... smile.gif

Nice! Mind sharing why you’re doing this? Better to be directly registered instead of via IBKR? In this case you still purchase via IBKR first then do some sort of conversion?

lol just trying to experience French hospitality laugh.gif

There is an alternative actually: buy via IBKR, then convert from bearer shares to intermediate registered shares via IBKR. But I am not sure how much IBKR will charge for this sort of conversion-based corporate action. Probably some hefty penalty...

That said, I like the treatment of Air Liquide towards retail investors. The IR team goes deep enough to show their care about retail shareholders.

This can be seen in their IR page very clearly: https://www.airliquide.com/investors/indivi...ide-shareholder

There are even shareholder factsheets covering topics from buying/selling via Air Liquide directly to dividend withholding taxation etc.: https://www.airliquide.com/investors/indivi...ntial-documents

And based on my engagement with their shareholder support team at CACEIS so far, I am pleased with their swift and professional response.

French standard eh... can't resist laugh.gif

You don't have to pay anything to open a shareholder account, nor is there a need to pay any maintenance charges. Good to explore lah. Best case, buy shares and swallow the 0.4% brokerage fee, hold for years, enjoying free bonus and increasing dividends... Worst case, just leave the account as it is.

As for funding issue, I can send EUR from IBKR to Wise EUR account details via SEPA, then SEPA again from Wise to Air Liquide's CACEIS corporate bank account.

Might take days though the whole process should be entirely free of charge.

(Ahem... check out slide 15 of 18 https://www.airliquide.com/sites/airliquide...sheets-2024.pdf )

What's happening with Wise? I've previously done a content and I clearly remembered its USD 0.39, unfortunately i didn't link up the article regarding the fees of USD 0.39. It seems like they removed it?

I'm uploading both image here for comparison. One was done 3rd April 2023, and another was 30th July 2024

HumbleBF old rates = 0.65% + USD0.39
new rates = 0.54% + USD1.13

so, for large amounts, the new rates is actually cheaper

Time to make money. There's a mispricing on Blue Ocean ATS a moment ago.

Someone bid 91.71 for 100 shares of BIL ETF when yesterday's closing price was 91.60.

Sold all my stake for a handsome profit of some 6.38 USD. Now gonna buy back at 91.59, minus some 0.35 for commissions, there's still 6 USD left on the table tongue.gif

I also notice another thing with Blue Ocean ATS's display on IBKR. The number of shares displayed on the best bid/ask offer columns are rounded up to the nearest 100 shares.

Suppose I intend to sell 58 shares of BIL, the ask size will increase by 100 and not 58. Now I lowball the best ask price by 0.01, reducing my selling price to 91.7, and the ask size remains at 100.
