Hello,

Just managed to open an account, not really familiar how to operate with the interface and thinking to put some money into some ireland domiciled etf to test water.
Wondering is there any minimum amount recommend to convert SGD to USD, and minimum amount to buy a ETF to make it worth? I know Currency Conversion fees minimum is 2USD but not too familiar for the fees when buying.
Thanks!

Use tiered It's USD0.35/transaction.
You can manually count yourself. USD2.00+USD0.35= USD2.35.

So if you do
USD2.35/USD100 = 2.35%
USD 2.35/USD1000 = 0.235%
USD2.35/USD5000 = 0.047%

The above is for us etf.

If Ireland, it's minimal GBP1.00

Thanks for the reply!
I am still a bit confused on this actually. For example if I buy CSPX which is USD Share Class Currency, do I get charged for "USD-DENOMINATED PRODUCTS" under Europe, or I will get charged under "United Kingdom - Tiered" which is minimum 1GBP instead?

And each order can only purchase 1 ETF right, for example if I want to buy IUHC and CSPX at the same time, it will be counted as two separate order correct?

Thanks again.

Just open an IBKR account and transferred about 2k SGD into it, trying to convert it to USD and I got this error.
"YOUR ORDER IS NOT ACCEPTED. MINIMUM OF 2000 USD (OR EQUIVALENT IN OTHER CURRENCIES) IS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO PURCHASE ON MARGIN, SELL SHORT, TRADE CURRENCY OR FUTURE."

Wondering is that because of my Base Currency is SGD or I need to have minimum of 2k USD in order to trade?
Thanks for your help.

Perhaps your transfer not reflected yet? The message states you're trying to buy on margin, which means you don't have enough currency to fulfill that order.

Alternatively... are you buying USD or trying to sell USD when you have no USD?

You need to wait for your currency to clear. Did you see the money available already under cash section?

Second it seems your sgd2k is not enough hence the earning appear. You need to manually add in commission. So always leave few dollars behind for them to minus commission.

I tried with lower amount to be converted and now it is successful.
I pretty sure I leave few SGD for the commission but maybe the SGD not able to cover the 2USD at that time.
Thanks for the help again.

Oh wow. I tested recurring investment for USD 20 trade for LSE ETF (IUAG). The commission is only USD 0.18.
That's almost like free...

Anyone managed to create recurring investment for CSPX? I tried it just now but it shows "You cannot create a recurring investment for CSPX at LSEETF.".

TaiGoh i can't find CSPX in fractional shares list. only fractional shares can be used for recurring investment https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?f=45718.
the list is not directly accessible, u need to click on the link in Step 1, then click on link in Step 2

Would like to confirm divided is not counted as part of unrealised profit correct?
Bought BIL last month then noticed that I am in loss position.
