Do u guys think the 24months contract is worth it or should I just go with sim only? Because I accepted their free trial and got the b618 with me now, but I am only getting +-10mbps on speed test, sometimes even lower than my current streamyx 8mbps.

I am planning to just use it for internet TV, terminate astro. And keep the streamyx for gaming(lower more stable ping). I do have a Huawei E5377 mifi. Would that be able to hit the same performance as the +-10mbps of the Huawei b618 with the unifi air? Cuz it seems like the b618 can't reach its full potential here.

If 618 are getting low speed then probably your area didn't covered for band 40 or 38. If the area only cover for band 5 but not 38 or 40 then it is likely the speed to be low regardless of what router you are using.

You should check what band your area are getting for unifi. If your area support band 38, 40 and your mifi is covered for band 5,38, 40 then should be fine. Maybe someone pro can tell you what band your mifi is covered as the website and spec doc only show frequency and I duno translate that to band. Another possible problem is signal strength, b618 is definitely better in term of get the signal as compared to mifi so if b618 is not getting a good speed then I think it will be worst for the mifi

Perhaps you can try the digi infinite instead if your area digi signal is strong. Digi are using band 3 and 7 if not mistaken. You can look for digi subforum if you interested to get more info on that

If your case, you may apply unifi mobile sim and try on your E5377 first.
IMO U can't get better speed than B618.
Anyway, 10+Mbps seems too low.
Try place it near to the window and test again.

I accepted their 'free trial' also ... actually it's already signed contract, with 30-days cooling off period; that's why the courier need to take photo of your IC when receiving the package. And since Unifi Air monthly billing starts on 1st of every month, you'll get billed even when it's less than 30days, for my case lah; but my area got good TDD-LTE 2300MHz (Band 40) coverage (I think), so I don't mind accepting the 24-months contract after 2-weeks testing.

In your house, to try and confirm where got best signal, can install Huawei SmartHome app for B618-65D, use the Signal Strength(?, forgot name of the function) to see where can get at least green bars. Blue bars are the best, while red are the worst. My upper floor can get blue bars but inconvenient; I just put at lower floor with just green bars but so far stable ... just that recently, at night around 8pm-10pm, maybe too many people subscribed already until network congestion (or could TM throttle the speed, to balance the load?).

If no optimum blue or green bars, maybe you can tell TM that when they ask why you can't accept the contract, on top of the lower than 20Mbps speed.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Seems like the unifi air isn't worth to get in my area. I'm not sure about the billing but the guy calling me offering the promo said I can cancel it anytime within the 30days, which I am gonna cancel after seeing that it can't get any better than my 8mb stimix.

I wonder if one person can install 2 stimix line at the same address? Cuz if can, i'll just go with 2 stimix line instead of fluctuating unifi air (that can only reach 10mbps), one for pc one for TV. Ditching astro for android box. Then if later the fiber line reach here I can just upgrade from stimix.

Plus, when I asked the guy offering me the unifi air, he said if fiber becomes available later I will still be bound with unifi air contract, cannot terminate or upgrade to fiber.

Streamyx runs on copper, which require you to pull another physical cable from box.
Therefore you might need to pay for wiring fees just to have 2 phone line in a single house.
Not sure if result justify the cost.

Same goes for me, speed is worse than someone PMS-ing. I NEVER hit the 20mbps, best was around 10mbps but by evening, it goes to 1-2mbps.
Note, I am using it in my 27th floor condo in Damansara Damai.

Fortunately TIME just called and coming over to setup fibre in a week.
Am going to cancel my Unifi Air

I want to share my experience on Unifi Air.

I have been subscribing to 24 months of contract at Unifi Air since November 15, 2019. Everything is good about Unifi Air. Speed, Band etc. Things change after the second month begins on December 14, 2019. Internet speed is slow. The band that used to be Band 40 has changed to band 5 but the router's position has not changed at all since I started subscribing. I tried to change the router's position and hope to be able to get back to band 40. But I can't find it.

Then I thought UNIFI was trying to cheat by allowing Band 40 in the first month to keep customers from canceling without penalty. So far there are no signs for me to get back to Band 40.

I'd like your opinion. What should I do now? Cancellation with penalty or is it possible to cancel without penalty? Or should I be patient and positive because UNIFI is probably making improvements to the signal tower that may take weeks or months?

FYI, my location is Jalan Balam, Teluk Panglima Garang.

Interested to take SIM card only (with no contract).
How does 'no contract' really work? Is it like prepaid (can top up)?
Is there a grace period? For example - I pay RM79+ for Dec2019.
Then stop for Jan2020 (abroad). Then continue for Feb2020.
Is that possible?
Thanks in advance.

i am taking sim card only.
its more like postpaid method, so its not possible to stop for jan and continue on feb.
i think unifi mobile prepaid is a better choice for u, 1 week unlimited RM20nett

But I think unifi speed is capped to rather low speed.

It's a postpaid plan.
100 ringgit upfront, then it's 79 before taxes.

Unifi B40 TDD frame change from sa1 to sa2
Download speed increase by half and upload will decrease by half.

Since celcom network is ok. Why not using it??
BTW, I start to love unifi air now, slow but stable, I can get ard 6 to 10 mbps download speed which I still can than a bit. Unlike Maxshit 4g, very moody, sometime can go up to 12mbps but worst case ard 2 mbps only

CelcomBB has quota while unifi Air does not.
dont think Celcom's Home Wireless Gold Plus 50GB is enough.
