What is Gunpla?

Gundam Models refers to plastic and non-plastic model kits depicting the mechas, vehicles and characters of the fictional Mobile Suit Gundam universe. These kits have become popular among anime fans and model-lovers, especially in Japan and in other nearby Asian countries since 1980s. The popularity of Gundam models increased in the 1990s with North America and Europe being exposed to Gundam through television, video and manga. These Gundam Models may also be called Gunpla (ガンプラ Ganpura?), a portmanteau of "Gundam plastic model". "Gunpla" more commonly refers to the practice of building Gundam models, rather than the models themselves.

What's the difference between RE and MG?
Is it merely on Exoskeleton?

Ok, so the upcoming Gundam Build Divers Re: Rise design and kits don't look half bad. It's funny that the protagonist mobile suit looks the worst among the full lineup

No, it's the same universe settings but re rise is supposed to take place years after the original. The mecha designs at least looks much better

Yes,GBT has a lot of exclusives to buy - just depends on how deep is your pocket and luggage space.
my advise is , don't bother to buy normal kits even if it's cheap because you can get them anywhere.

I'm not sure if any PG exclusive kits but there's plently exclusive for RG and HG, those are acceptable size that you can put into luggage. Won't suggest buy any regular release like carpathia mention that you can also found here unless you know it is price a lot different. I bought PG kits before and I can tell you it is not worth the hassle to carry it during travel better you should just enjoy your trip.

If you use AirAsia, max out your check-in luggage. Then get a box from somewhere and put them in that box, then register the box as your check-in luggage.

For list of currently available GBT exclusive gunpla, check here: https://www.gundam-base.net/products/

only buy gundam base limited kits there, other kits are just common and are priced at RRP + tax, which you can find cheaper ones in Akihabara instead.

I've been seeing this a lot lately. Is it good?
need to buy the compressed air can though (as it can get used up)
For a marker/brush guy like me, might be worth a shot. but it's priced at 3000yen a can... doh.gif

No, better get proper airbrush. This is fun but kinda aimed for learning younger kids under 15 since the Gundam Marker is less harmful than usual lacquer and enamel paints.

Lazada 11/11 upcoming sale has airbrush set as cheap as around Rm120.

I was there earlier at around 4 pm, it looks like it was restocked. You are referring to the limited edition clear MG, right?

Based on the Expo kit poster on Litt Tak's page (https://www.facebook.com/litttaksdnbhd/photos/a.507421612617238/3687777804581587/?type=3&theater), all the Expo kits were in stock (some were freshly restocked at the time) except for
HG Gundam Astaroth (its possible I couldn't recognize the kit, I wasn't looking for it)
MG ZZ Gundam Ver. Ka.

The poster although states that the price is in $, is actually RM. For example, although the poster says the green Haro is $20, it is actually priced at the Expo as RM 20.

*
Yeah, i think the poster was made by Bandai, not Litt tak, hence the use of $ instead of RM.
stocks are supposed to be replenished everyday (expo kits) and every few hours ( normal kits)

For those of you outside of KL/Selangor and cannot attend GBWC, the video below captures all the entries.

They finally announced the expansion pack for the 1/60 PG Perfect Strike last month....but it comes with the whole set. Sucks for those of us who bought the original PG Strike. mega_shok.gif

https://www.gundamkitscollection.com/2019/0...am-release.html

They did say the expansion pack will also be sold separately under P-Bandai though. Wonder if its made available here hmm.gif

Ya, was referring to the limited edition.

Went there Thursday morning at 10am, they only put one on the rack, straightaway pick it up and bought it biggrin.gif

They did say it will be restocked in the afternoon but I can't stay there the whole day waiting for it sweat.gif

Hi everyone , slightly out of the topic here. Do any sifus here have IKEA detolf shelves for displaying your gundams? i have some issues with the led placement, what products do you guys use for the shelf's lightning? Saw some modelers uses IKEA's dioder but its already discontinued in Malaysia.

Bought a LED Yeelight strip but i dont know how exactly i am gonna split this led into four different strips with appropriate connectors/ cable splitter... can anyone guide me?

Hi guys, was wondering whether there's any one in Subang and Petaling Jaya that provides building, painting and repairing commission work for Gunpla and metal build models (paint repairs)

have a few MG/PG needing someone to customise, and 1-2 metal build units needing some minor color repair.

Apologies in advance if I've posted in the wrong thread bangwall.gif

Appreciate the help!

Hello, First off.
Merry Christmas everyone smile.gif .

So, I'm thinking about coming back to Gunpla building for some period of time.
but this time i will paint the missing paint color draw panal line and definately no more stickers. No plan for air brush.
just the basics, just HGs, nothing big mod.
i have watch some youtube tutorial videos, but there still some question.

i hope i can get some advise from the veteren.

can i use ordinary nipper from the hardware store, instead of Hobby Nipper?

Can i use Hardware store's sandpaper? is there any different from using wood sandpaper and use metal sandpaper?

since i'm just painting the missing color, would gundam marker suitable for me?

can i use those masking tape from the stationary shop?

does spraying matte coating smells? i haven't found a proper area to spray them. i fear i would offend the neighbourhood.
or maybe i'll leave it no coating.

is there a difference if i order from Gundam.my or Shoppe's Gundam.my? i have very little experience buying things online.

Thank you.

In the long run, a branded 1 will get you far far away (more model kits to build). No need to go as far as to the best you can get but a good nipper do you better when cutting parts out, ordinary 1 has that shape that blocks you from cutting parts out especially in smaller runners

Can i use Hardware store's sandpaper?

Yes, as long as you know the roughness for it.

Is there any different from using wood sandpaper and use metal sandpaper?
maybe other forumer can answer for that. i didn't even knew there is other kinds of sandpaper.

since i'm just painting the missing color, would gundam marker suitable for me?

Yes, im a marker user myself. but get yourself a small and large brush depending on the surface size you're painting.

can i use those masking tape from the stationary shop?

Yes, but check glue on it. some masking tape have residual "gam" when removing. try a few (on the runner, not the parts), see whats best for your.

shopee got cheaper vouchers and sometimes free shipping? i've bought something from their shopee store as well.

Thank you gaiachronicler, notworthy.gif

there one more question i forgot to ask,

about panel lines, can i use the lighter oil to erase the excessive panel line ink.

The tin is yellow colour with red letter, think its name Amcor Oil.
some art student claim it can help erase some black lining in their art.

i wouldn't use it as thinner for the colors. Since its gundam marker, shouldn't be needing it?

or the model thinner is able to use for both function, erase excessive panel line AND thin the colour?

went to Japan and had some free time to look at Gunpla scenes there and here are my observations

1) for new release Gundam eg: MG Barbatos, RG NU Gundam with Funnels and the G40 Gundam, you will have more luck finding one in Shopee compared to physical shops in Akihabara (Yodobashi, AmiAmi, Volks, Mandarake, Surugaya Specialty, Bicu Bicu Bic Camera, Softmap, Yamada Denki, etc.) so don't buy common release lah, difference RM10-30 better enjoy your holiday. Funny thing is I can only find MG Barbatos at one random small shop that is not specialized in Hobby stuff somewhere in the middle of Asakusa. Didn't buy it because already bought in Shopee

2) If you're going to Gundam Base no need to go to the common release, more expensive than Malaysia. Just buy the event item and limited item there only. price not bad for the BASE release

3) P-Bandai hunting, Mandarake and Surugaya is based on luck. If you can find one, you can lah. But you need to know that most people around the world will aim Akihabara and Nakano Broadway branch so most stuff there is jacked lol and rare stuff will kena sapu before you arrive. You can get better luck finding some stuff on Amazon JP and send to your airbnb/hotel. Managed to find the JR Train RX78 and the Ichiban Kuji RX78 at Shibuya Mandarake instead

4) GodHands? kena sapu already at shops by mainland and angmoh tourist already. Want to hoard panel line marker and pen? also kena sapu already

so support your local sellers lah XD

Exactly what I feel to those people who went to Japan to get gunpla. Why bother get the regular release kits when they are easily available here? Even if the items more cheap, it is not recommended as you will carry the huge boxes back. Unless the retail kits are somewhat discontinued and rarely reissue. E.g. The 1990 HG RX-78-2 Gundam.

Get the special exclusive Gundam Base. Those are actually in good price in Gundam Base because they are jacked up if buy in Malaysia.

GodHand also easily get here. Its a matter you want to spend RM250 just for a hobby nipper or not. Instead get the similar design at more cheaper price. The Nanye nipper only cost about Rm40..

Been using this one for 3 years. Very good nipper. Only the bad side you don't get the nipper stopper like God Hand.

Or better get this one.
Got stopper knob just like GodHand.

Basically the HLJ and Amiami discounted prices without need to pay shipping fee. Still better aim for rare and exclusive release gunpla first before the cheap retail release gunpla.

Is the waist peg of yours already broken? I've found that just sanding to make the hole slightly bigger to reduce friction makes a world of difference in preventing breakage, and also doesn't affect the stability of the kit.

Is the waist peg of yours already broken? I've found that just sanding to make the hole slightly bigger to reduce friction makes a world of difference in preventing breakage, and also doesn't affect the stability of the kit.
*
it's broken some years back. used epoxy + pins to fix it. works fine so far. didn't know the stein variant had the extra parts. sweat.gif

might as well try buying a complete part if someone willing to sell. anyone? nod.gif

These few days been working on, finally done, look shinning. Of course need to wear latex gloves prevent finger print. Dry transfer decal been long time never touch. At first I through was water decal lol. Overall is very nice elegant display kit and affordable compare to hi metal one that I don't buy. But this kit once you done you feel proud of it.

Love how it looks but my unit stupid spring connector at the leg putus. I cement it back, the moment reinstall the spring then broken again. Now have to use superglue (spring & connector) and cement (multiple pipe unit) to hold it.

Yeah the spring thing is a bit tricky. Mine also kinda bent a little because I used excessive force to make it connect with the plastic connector. I think it got flung over on the floor once and my god I think I spent around 20 minutes looking for that tiny plastic.

i have the older original variant, not the remake anime ver. happens to unit 00, 01 and 03. maybe they fixed the internal mechanism since then. although, i doubt it. same on the torso, i have to nail polish it every now and then, else it can't even stand. rclxub.gif

Price is affordable but you need to count the long run efficiency. Gundam Marker is not cheap. Compared with hobby paint with 10ml/15ml bottle, they can last longer than one Gundam Marker.

Expensive yo. I think it's always in every hobbyist to get the art he wants to make with the least amount of cost.

Here's something I found, tamiya cement is similar to the tamiya airbrush cleaner. Try it

But looks superb still, love the deep blue compared to the HGCE! Haven't decalled only.

In your opinion, the torso, is it durable? Lookin at the design of the bloody orphan, it just look fragile to me.

It's durable enough, to be posed. Allows for some minor movements. Not sure about the MG version though.

I don't know why everyone is jumping to conclusions though. Nowhere was it said that it would recycle old mold.
How come you all are so much smarter than the rest of us that you can already see the final product? hmm.gif hmm.gif

Granted, last few Ver Ka has been mindblowing.. Nu, Hi-Nu, Sazabi, ZZ, FAZZ.. and i can only hope this Wing Zero is as mindblowing as well. In any case, it would be better than the Hi-Res for sure.. that one was a terrible kit

Bro, for me it's not about whether old or new mold. It's the missed opportunity to come out with previously unreleased kit. Even if they come out with G-Self (which I don't like), I also won't be so disappointed

I am also disappointed with the selection, but there has been way too much toxicity over it since the announcement. It's Bandai's choice la, don't like it, let's wait for the next slot. rclxm9.gif

Hi to all the Sifus,

I need help and guide on how to top coat. I am currently just using Gundam markers (GM01~03) and some pour type Gundam markers (301p~303p) for panel lining and applying water decals. What are the recommended top coats that I should use? I know there's a choice of Mr Hobby Top Coat and Mr Super Clear and the Samurai brand.

I'm thinking of upgrading to using Tamiya Panel Line Accent in the future and from my understanding that is enamel based, so what top coats should I use if I start using this?

Thank you for all the replies!

making the model from scratch is going to take a lot of time, not to mention time taken to print and prime those parts for painting.

You need to decide what king of finishing you want ( glossy? matte? semi gloss?) then you buy the paint.
Tamiya panel line works with any top coat, so dont worry.

See video below on how to apply top coat

Hi All,
I'm quite new to gunpla. Just picked up this hobby since Corona Lockdown started.
Looking for a Ver Ka as my next kit. Can I have some suggestions if y'all don't mind?

I don't mind if it is more complex or time consuming. Just would like one kit that does not have parts falling off when playing with it.
Or is that a wrong mindset to have, please don't hold back. Let me know!

Thank you thank you thumbup.gif

If you want complexity while on a budget, go for RG kits. Not very poseable though, sometimes I moved the legs but the arms fell off laugh.gif . Mine was early RG kits though, I heard newer kits have improved on this.

I've tried a few Recent RG Kits and compared it to RG 00 Raiser( I would say middle RG line?) definitely the newer ones are completely different and much improved.

There are many websites which provide open source models to practice 3D printing models, you can check them out: www.thingiverse.com , www.myminifactory.com. Additionally, for a beginner planning to get a 3D printer, you can join in various local 3D printing community on FB in Malaysia. Most of them are very helpful in advising you on getting the proper printers. Nevertheless, most of the users would provide very good support on how to service and maintain one's 3D printer as well.

You can also check out my website as well, www.formventor.com for further reference of what I've done locally for the different market applications using 3D printing tech.

Cheers!

Ver Ka, you can look at sinanju stein too. only bad part is the gun is heavy

for playing or posing, the lesser parts are better for thngs dont fall off, usually zeon kits are solid, but articulation is limited though coz of the design/shape.

I did buy 3rd party 3r metal inner frame for my bandai freedom gundam. Make it feel like metal build. Is just too bad bandai don't want to sales inner metal frame for plastic kit instead they sales with metal build, DX or fix with expensive price. I did buy the bandai fix.. Wing zero snow white.. Just wait for received it because it already released and some Japanese Korea got review already.

Metal frame is expensive to produce at a massive number like plastic model. You will also pay high for it. The High Resolution Model line is already do similar to that.

thanks. i actually have no intention to pimp up the sinanju laugh.gif . just trying to buy some unused parts if available. why let it rot in the box? brows.gif

3rd party kits are always expensive. <a quick googling later>......i might as well buy a new sinanju stein instead. that way i'll have the parts AND another sinanju rclxub.gif laugh.gif

Main selling point is the LED gimmick. The surface detail is still at typical MG(not 3.0/Nu ver Ka level)

thanks. i actually have no intention to pimp up the sinanju  laugh.gif . just trying to buy some unused parts if available. why let it rot in the box?  brows.gif

3rd party kits are always expensive. <a quick googling later>......i might as well buy a new sinanju stein instead. that way i'll have the parts AND another sinanju rclxub.gif  laugh.gif
*
i mean since mg sinanju is known to break at waist part using the original parts. why risk breaking again? confused.gif

the one prone to breaking is only the 1st variant, ver ka. as i understands it, it's the material. which is why the ver ka frame fells more hefty. the subsequent variants don't have the waist issue.

So I recently did the odd looking Kimaris 1/100 Booster Unit. Not that I like the design, but I got it for cheap (damaged box, just a small crease though lol). Given that it's actually one of my first few full length video of a project, please excuse any silly mistakes or annoying part of the video biggrin.gif

Just a tiny channel doing what I love thumbup.gif

Full metal model is always expensive. The old full silver model cost 500k yen before and the 24k gold model cost 20 million yen.

No legs because anime accuracy from 0079 series.
The perfect Zeong is weird for me. I prefer without legs anyway. Even Psycommu Zaku don't even have legs too.

Char is right. Leg is a decoration in space anyway.

Go buy plastic spoon and practice first. Clean the parts with dishwasher detergent and rinse dry it for china brand gundam before airbrush it. biggrin.gif

Thinner ratio 1 paint : 2 thinner
The link below could help a lot smile.gif

PG Strike. Affordable PG around Rm500.. Decent quality.
Or go for PG Exia(non lighting version) around Rm650-700.

I suggest hold on the purchase as the PG RX-78-2 Gundam was announced last January but no official release yet.

get a AirBrush (AB) compressor at shopee (KKMoon). it cheap. 25 PSI is quite strong.
color Paint have 3 categories base: acrylic base, enamel base, lacquer base. so, when u need leveling thinner for mixture, u need to get the same base.
recommend get Mr color (lacquer base).

Anything GFF/Metal build price is insane but then again, when you preorder from your hobby shop, do you think you can ask to check for QC and then say you don't want to buy the item ?

get a AirBrush (AB) compressor at shopee (KKMoon). it cheap. 25 PSI is quite strong.
color Paint have 3 categories base: acrylic base, enamel base, lacquer base. so, when u need leveling thinner for mixture, u need to get the same base.
recommend get Mr color (lacquer base).

Thank you for your advise. Due to the place I stay, Air-brushing is not suitable. Also I am avoiding lacquer or enamel based paints because they produce toxic fumes.

Hi asking for advise from sifus.

Currently doing hand-painting, any reviews or opinions about Moshen or Skull Color paints? Is it better or comparable to Vallejo paints?
*
Try this one.
SM(Sheikmainland). Got good feedback. Good finishing. Prethinned paint.

But as other said. Hand-painting is for detailling small part. Not suitable for painting the whole kit.

Doesn't make sense to compare Metal Build. It is not even a plastic model kit and not even from Bandai Hobby Division.

Also the Gundarium Alloy 1/144 RX-78-2 is the most expensive kit so far. Cost about 220,000 yen.

Hi sir.
Eastern Model does only license product, so it is original manufacturer. The reason why you can't find any info on their products is because they only focus on China, so sometimes a bit hard to get english info.

Their quality of plastic and snap fit is as good as Bandai if their previous Ultraman pla model line is any indication.

The only problem with their kits is their manual, sometimes got a bit typo and typical chinese to english level of translation lol

See their ultraman kit review here

I like it also but I feel I don't have the perfect skill to do it, this model kit not color inject all part include 2b and assistance robot, so have to careful painted with proper equipment and accurate color. Is not a snap fit model kit also not sure about it as detail say on hobbylink Japan. This kit cost about rm600 is local store sales.

-From [NieR: Automata], [Flight Unit Ho229 Type-B & 2B (Yorha No. 2 Type B)] is now available as an assembly plastic model kit!

――The flight unit Ho229 Type-B can be transformed into flight form and maneuver form.
-Many parts are movable, and you can reproduce the pose in the play.
-A special clear base is attached and can be exhibited in each state.
-Decals are included to reproduce the markings on each part.
―― 2B (Yorha No. 2 B type) comes with a white contract, white contract, and pod. Each part is movable, and it is possible to pose even though it is small.
――You can display 2B and pods on a clear base exclusively for characters.

base on the photo i can see it a color separation kit...cos i see some small cutting mark for the grey color part.
but not sure the B2 is pre paint figure or not (not a main issue for me)

On this episode of my custom gunpla build, I moved away from working with plaplates and went back to scribing. I also tried a couple of new methods to customize the look of the hips that involves a hammer lol. Thankfully it came out alright.

I think topcoat gloss is acrylic material so it should be fine on abs/bare plastic.

Mr Hobby Super Clear is lacquer paint if im not mistaken whereas Mr Hobby Topcoat is acrylic which is the friendliest to bare plastic. Then again I have read that Mr Super Clear’s lacquer is synthetic so its not as harmful.
Please correct me if im wrong

PG Unleashed highlights:

-Preassembled frame to save assembly time.
-Layout frame similar to MG Alex 2.0's Chobham frame. Come molded in good metallic color.
-Better open hatches than previous PGs.
-RGB LED in eyes, chest vents. There is also light gimmick on beam saber(they give 3 beam saber holder but I assume only one is lighted up)
-Metal parts for backpack's inner thrusters, and head's vulcan.
-Photo-etching details and also 3D realistic stickers given to enhance the detail look.

Still no confirmation whether we get the waterslides decals or not.
For me worth to buy than MGEX. Just at a bit more money for PG Unleashed and you got beautiful PG

I have the old Perfect Strike PG.

But I cant find any online retail selling the new Expansion Set anywhere? (except few sellers in Shopee)

Not sure if paying for the new full set is worth it or not. hmm.gif
(New Perfect Strike PG doesnt seem to include the huge Grand Slam Sword?)

The old 2004 version is PG Strike. Not Perfect Strike. Perfect Strike was recently introduced in Seed HD Remaster.

The expansion Sword/Launcher set is P-Bandai exclusive. Not easily can find at shop.

Any of you guys build gunpla without topcoat the armor (PS Plastics) , and how long before it takes for WHITE parts to turn yellowish?

I built my gunplas that way, spray the inner frame only, spray yellow parts to Golden. Panel lining too...

My room doesn't have Sunlight at all, and no smoke either.

Your unicorn is what scale? your environment might be a factor?

My MG wing kits that are 8years+ only shows 2 - 5% thin shade on yellow or might be just dirt.

i have 2x PG unicorn and PG Exia that has white parts still in white... only the ' Made in China ' PG Unicorn's antenna/v-fin show little yellowish, since it's not Made in Japan, it's original by Bandai Though. i bought the kit from IT Toys.

Hello.

I sort of got insect problem with HMM Blade Liger. After a while (maybe a really long time), start playing and posing it. Then really small ant or maybe termite comes out of it. There's around 2 or 3 that I see. SHould I be worried and do something about the rest of my model kits?

So, I have some chisel from a hobby leather project. And I was working on BT Liger Zero Panzer. Considering it is a not HMM, lots of work needs to be done. So, instead of using pocket knife to trim the nubs, I tried using the chisel. Much better in cleaning the nub mark. Often, the color remains the same or slightly darker than surrounding. It also helps to 'level' all the imperfection edges of the imitation kits. I don't have any hobby knife though.

Anyone else use non-standard tools for cutting and cleaning the parts from the spruce?

So, instead of using pocket knife to trim the nubs, I tried using the chisel. Much better in cleaning the nub mark. Often, the color remains the same or slightly darker than surrounding. It also helps to 'level' all the imperfection edges of the imitation kits. I don't have any hobby knife though.

Anyone else use non-standard tools for cutting and cleaning the parts from the spruce?

You can get a lot of necessary tools from Mr. DIY. They work decently.

Also my latest video is out with my most ambitious scribing attempt yet.

they say MG DOM is 1.5 not pure 2.0

gotta wait certain irish gunpla youtuber to review that thing

HGCE Dagger is a must buy, to go alongside HGCE Windam

sad the GINN is MG instead of HGCE, wouldve been a neat set thou, but i guess they might reusing MG Zaku Warrior frame

overall a decent lineup, only gripe is RG wing...and the fact that MK-V is >>>>>>pbandai

Well the old frame is decent enough and the old MG Dom can do most of the pose from the anime anyway. It basically another MG Dwadge which is decent kit.

The upgrade is welcomed especially the 3.0 hands.

Hey guys, I'm going to be adding some pla-plates to my kit (tiny sized pla-plate or some extra layer detail) and was looking for recommendations for glue/cement for it.

There are so many type's of glue or cement in the market, I'm aware of tamiya thin cement, but I'm wondering if its good for applying pla-plates as well?

Hi guys,
I'm new to gunpla, picked up this hobby during mco and made some sd and a couple of hg, mostly sd. Just recently bought rx93 rg from damen litt tak thinking it's time to do something more difficult.

Just a quick question, for lining, when do u guys usually do it. Before assemble, during assemble or after assemble? Bought both Gundam Marker GM01 and GM02.

Any input is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I usually only panel line after i have assemble the kit. i would also recommend getting the Tamiya Panel line accent, lot easier compared to the panel lining pen from bandai lol.

Best part about this hobby is experimenting and trying out new things!
Also, since you buy from Damen Litt Tak store, just talk to the staff there la.... all builders and will be more than happy to teach you on the spot bro.

Sazabi is a very big and challenging build for MG, so for a beginner i would recommend you to try smaller MG kits. At least, if you make mistake, it wont be a costly one lol

on a separate note, below is the gundam base limited RG lighting edition available for sale for a very limited time by bandai for Malaysia. Don't think this will be available next year.

Defo RG. MG has slight difference in detail, less holes to show inner frame, but has eye catching silver frame (eg the shoulder armor is the easiest part to notice).

Also the MG is YUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE.

Apology if this has been asked or discussed before. Just wanna ask for opinion on panel lining. I've tried both Gundam Marker gm01(those fine tip) and Tamiya Panel Accent on my experimental sd kit. Needless to say, panel accent is definitely easier to use and it does give a 'cleaner' result. But i have read about panel accent might cause cracks on unpainted kit.
My question, what's the reason for the crack, so that i can avoid it. I also read about doing the panel line while the kit is still on the runner to avoid the crack.
Any opinion is greatly appreciated. My apology again, still very new to gunpla, especially when it comes to detailing

There is huge different between those RG, MG and PG.

Most detail of course PG due to the number of different parts.

While for RG, its a size of a HG (1/144) but with detail of MG (1/100).

How solid are those inner frame? So far, I only have RG and I feel the inner frame is soft.

Yes, RG part due to the size is prone to break if not handle carefully.

Personally, i dont like RG due to this issue. Detailed but fragile.

I still prefer MG, easy to custom paint or custom parts.

I loved the inner frame on MG RX-78-2 ver 2.0.
Many kits using this frame such as GN Sniper series, really solid. thumbsup.gif

Yeah I've definitely read about it too, I remember the dude said the crack may happen if you put too much of the panel accent liner on the surface, as it causes the plastic to become brittle. So far I've never experienced it myself, so I guess you don't really need to worry about that. Just apply the liner moderately.

How solid are those inner frame? So far, I only have RG and I feel the inner frame is soft.
I want to try MG, but not sure if the inner frame is the same as RG.
*
MG Inner frame is stronger

QUOTE(ico12 @ Dec 10 2020, 01:37 AM)
Yeah I've definitely read about it too, I remember the dude said the crack may happen if you put too much of the panel accent liner on the surface, as it causes the plastic to become brittle. So far I've never experienced it myself, so I guess you don't really need to worry about that. Just apply the liner moderately.
*
Bandai plastic nowadays are quite good , never have i had issues with parts cracking due to using tamiya panel line accent.

BTW, this HG Load Astray is surprisingly good.

I've been eyeing up Barbatos as my second try at GunPla (first one was a HG RedComet - nothing special done)
my friend suggested I take on the MG Barbatos, but then googling around says some of the Barbatos models are subpar? (also, i swear there was price increase before this. i thought all HGs were like 50-60, suddenly all 100++)

Does anyone have experience with any of the Barbatos? Or any recommendation for fun builds? Not looking for a "main character" type gundam, just something cool looking

Go to Youtube and search for MG Barbatos video.
Look for videos uploaded by Prime92, ZakuAurelius and Mecha Gaikotsu.
You'll find their reviews very useful.

1 - MG Barbatos is quite a solid kit. If you want cool looking kit, this is hard to recommend as looks are subjective
2 - Yes, prices have increased for HG kits because of better parts separations and quality + our weakening RM currency

The ones with shitty frames are the 1/100 HG kits. MG only got one version and an expansion armor set.

I dunno which variant you're referring to, but I'm working on a FM 1/100 Barbatos Lupus Rex atm and all I can say it is good. I have the MG Barbatos 4th form and heard a lot of praises but I didn't build it yet.

Here is my current WIP on Barbatos Lupus Rex. Still a lot to touch up sweat.gif

Ok. Boight a MG Barbatos plus some clippers because I used like.. rusted dull ones before. We'll see how it goes.

I found a vid that basically took a look at the diff Barbatos models. They mentioned that some of the HG barbatos variants got flimsy joints or not balanced properly. Ah well. Hope the MG one is good

I think at this point, we can confirm these variants
1) Casval
2 ) G3
3) Mechanical Clear
4) Titanium Finish

Clear Colour body option parts already confirmed so im not listing it.

Sifus, regarding panel lining, can you use a marker from like Popular? I forgot to order one, but i saw online you can use mechanical pencils? Or even markers that are not for panel lining?
Do you panel line before or after assembly?

pencil line will be too soft to even see. Suggest you get a proper gunpla marker ( 0.2mm) or just buy the tamiya accent panel line paint.

For GundamBase kit, I think you can try your luck for Zaku kit on Litt Tak. Lazada online store (where they sell Gundambase limited kit), as I believe they will able to get some stock to here. thumbsup.gif

I just recheck their online store again, GundamBase limited product that they bring in is not many and also not the latest released, possible it is due to latest GundamBase Product will have some sort of Exclusive Period (like console game) during release. So may need to check the product listing once per month, as Litt Tak. will change the limited product listing each month.

I am too prefer to buy more antagonist/grunt MS (like Zaku) or non-gundam hero MS due to their free and more creative design. As for Gundam MS, maybe due to their status as protagonist, need to maintain the so called hero image, so their design basically is more restricted and lacking of creativity (at least this is how I feel laugh.gif ).

Btw, I also hope that Litt Tak. can bring the new Gundambase Green Zaku to Malaysia. Its look nice thumbsup.gif

I take it you are referring to the shops in the old Berjaya Timesquare second floor. IT Toys moved to Jalan Klang Lama, Time Machine I heard changed name and moved somewhere else too.

There is a small hobby shop, CKTan in Brem Mall Kepong selling variety of model kit accessories and supplies.

Yeah, I was at CKtan shop few days back, bought a fujimi car model kit. The shop was having 20% sales for almost everything, quite a lot of customers.

IT Toys moved to Old Klang Road, I wanna visit their new premise soon also.

Time Machine still has one shop in PG Queensbay mall if I'm not mistaken.

Hi guys, need some opinion or advice

I'm currently building this 1/144 Barbatos Lupus (Iron blooded coating). I'm getting quite a few black nub marks as shown in the picture I attached. Since the runners are coated in chrome, sanding seem kinda impossible. Is there a way or any kinda similar color marker out there to hide the black nub mark.

Thanks!

Best you could do is to find a similar metallic paint (acrylics/enamel) and patch those nub marks. It's also why I don't think it's a good idea to buy special coated kits... these problems will likely occur.

btw, I unboxed and reviewed something interesting that's quite useful (IMO).

Thanks for the heads up bro! I'm still new to gunpla and just getting those kit that I thought it's cool haha. I'd try to see if I can find any metallic marker to patch the nub mark since paint/air brushing is out of question for me. Mostly just doing OOB build for now

i assume you're referring to the MG? it's p-bandai, limited release.
price will confirm be higher than normal. but you can find them at garage store somewhere here in this forum, or any shopee or lazada (hopefully).
or look around at 2nd hand store.. you could try find it at amcorp mall though.. good luck bro. thumbsup.gif

timesquare fantasy might have them? just probably. they sometimes have those random rare stuff there. price-wise, sweat.gif you must be willing to fork out

you could buy the expansion part instead and get a normal verka v2 gundam though (do take note the supposedly gold part is just flat gold-ish yellow)

someone could correct me if im wrong innocent.gif

Hey, thanks for the reply, yeah i did try out on shopee, lazada i havent try though, i guess will be hard to find as well. Amcorp mall last i went rarely see any gunpla shop. Might need to take a trip to timesquare/lowyat to look for it.

Just went to check, and saw one selling RM445 for it. (update: its actually out-of-stock)

hmmm... yeah or maybe i will just wait for another re-issue. haha

New Year Built.. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
1st time snap a Zaku Ver 2.0, really awesome kit. Nice detail and solid as rock.
On the other hand, not a fan of RX-78-2 ver3.0 sweat.gif .. not much detail and a bit loose here an there.. Still prefer ver2.0 way much better biggrin.gif

but still enjoy building to kick of this new year smile.gif
