I feel something is wrong with my direct debit. I put the date on 31 for January for simple and 1st February for general investing. But till today it just shows in process. So I tried yesterday to do 1 time deposit. This morning it shows then it will be updated in my account with 2-3 days. Felt weird. Any solution?

Either one or more of the below: 1. Panic withdraw during market dip 2. Fear of missing out and pump a lot more during market raise 3. Switch to lower risk index during market dip 4. Switch to higher risk index during market raise
Easy method that works for almost everyone: Consistently 'stash away' a portion of active income and ignore for 10-30 years.

Gold is safe haven when stocks drop like flies. So when ppl sell stocks they move their money to commodities like gold - stocks down, gold up Now stocks going up, ppl selling gold to move back to stocks. - stocks up, gold down Please correct me if I am wrong

Gold is considered a safe haven investment in the past. But due to the number of speculators purchasing GLD etf lately - every time the market dips, speculators will sell off their holdings in GLD to purchased other more attractive shares. So, GLD would fall.

All the above is true. U cannot think of gold as safe haven per se. It has different functions at different times. Sometimes as safe haven, sometimes as store of value, sometimes as inflation hedge, sometimes as alternative to low yield bond etc etc. It's a tricky asset.

QUOTE(rexus @ Feb 3 2021, 07:11 PM) If you have direct access to ETFs in USA via a brokerage, would you still go with StashAway? My main portfolio is self-managed but I've been investing my salary for the past 2 years through SA. It began as an experiment to see what robo-advisors are like, and I really do like how simple it is. Pick your risk index, put money in, monitor performance. They are a lot more disciplined at maintaining portfolio balance than I am by myself. However I'm at a juncture where I will probably stop using it. It's not about the fees, it's more that SA doesn't save me time since I already spend 10-20 hours a month following investment news and doing research anyway, and at this point I'm comfortable taking on more risk for reward.
