why Malaysia broadband price so expensive compare to other?
*
Depends how you see it, but we are cheaper than Australia though.

These are some of the reasons I know

1- Kaotim money else it takes ages to get approval to lay fiber cable and in some cases need to kaotim developer and condo management as well. AIS in Thailand is related to their royalty, nobody mess with royalty over there.

2- Higher overhead (manpower and raw material) and better planning. Have you seen Thailand utility pole?

3- Final and the main reason is Malaysia broadband price is one price for whole country, they need to balance the much higher cost for rural and landed infra deployment. Technically if they allow dynamic pricing based on location, a condo in klang valley can be way, way cheaper than a landed property in let say, Gua Musang.

In fact, based on what I know, they are losing money to serve rural and even many suburban users. And this is sort of forced by MCMC else the telco will just serve profitable areas.

for number 2, singapore sure higher overhead than us but their price and speed better than us.
for number 3, thailand also got rural area.

so no matter compare with small(developed) singapore or large (developing) thailand, we lose to both of them.
Dunno Indonesia, Philippine and Vietnam broadband price and speed better than us or not.

Icic and with that they give rm10 discount per month based on the usual price.

Then ur this rm10 discount is it permanent or just for this 1 year?

If they offer me that for one year I think I will take it.

Just for one year after that if I intend to renew it will be subjected to the ongoing promo at that time.

ONU / bridge mode can be set remotely from TIME side? Is it possible for us to manually do it ourselves without having to wait for their support? Is their phone/live chat slow?

I WFH and it is a huge inconvenience if they would randomly reset the ONU profile like what happened to you and cause entire network downtime.

Is their Wifi 6 router 2in1 as well or does it come with a separate modem? Moving to a new place soon and thinking if I should save RM20 by signing up for the 24-month wifi 7 plan and deal with their 2in1 device or not. I have a full Ubiquiti setup I intend to use so I don't need their router.

You don't really have a choice, even TM is giving the 2-in-1 combo modem router nowadays

What is happening to Time nowadays, same thing just happened to me just now.

Suddenly disable bridge mode and no internet, had to call CS

CS said migration issues causing changes to customer profile

I would say they’re probably upgrading to 10G. Happened to me and my friend nearby a few months ago at 12am. It reconnected after a min.
I set bridge mode myself, it reset back to router mode after reconnection. I noticed that my fibre reading improved, so they upgraded the equipment.

Same here. Have to live chat.

The live chat is rather lengthy, as CS doesn't know what was the issue, keep on asking can connect to wifi or not.
Already told router cannot connect to internet (first I didn't know the bridge mode being changed to router mode on ONU)
Wifi connected to own router, surely have wifi but no internet. All green light on ONU and router except on router's wan port which normally turn green from orange after connected.
CS said keep on saying line is ok from their side viewing.
Back and fore asking and answering almost similar question, and also told and screenshot own router page showed connecting failed, CS still asking wifi got or not. blink.gif
Finally CS asked technical personnel to call back to handle.

Technical personnel call back after ten of mins later.
Told him using own router, straight away he knew the issue (bridge mode being reconfiguration into router mode hence router cannot connect).
And within mins, issue resolved.

After you have successfully setup the bridge mode, you may 'disable' the ACS under TR069. Do note that this isn't 100% full proof as certain batch of ONTs are still accessible.
So far only house units with SoHo/Distribution/ELV Boxes installed will be given a separate ONU.
Thanks.

happened to me too.

Since morning my router couldnt connect pppoe and thought was my router problem,

Came back from work, did some troubleshooting and suspected the ONU setting was changed remotely.

i chatted the CS on evening and asked them to straight check if its was on bridge mode they said nope.

Told them to set it to bridge, told me they need to liase with tech department first.

At same time bam my router connected back and they didnt admit they changed anything nor reset it back to bridge. doh.gif
