Thanks!
Mikrotik not affected since they don't dnsmasq.
TP-Link & D-Link still unknown?
*
OpenWRT, Tomato, even Cisco & Ubiquiti use dnsmasq since it's very efficient DNS forwarder. dnsmasq is disabled on my Edgerouter as I rely on my Adguard Home server, which doesn't need dnsmasq. Besides, my Adguard Home only uses DOT upstreams, no DNS upstream at all. So I'm safe here? 😬

Hi Sifus, which would you recommend for Tenda AC23 vs TP-Link AX20?

P/S: No Wifi6 devices at the moment
*
Just go for TP-Link AX20 since the price is not much different. And, are you planning to change router again once you have WiFi 6 device?

My main concern would be stability and coverage. As for price, looks like the AC23 is at RM169 and AX20 is at RM270-ish.

And no, I don't think I will be upgrading my router when I have Wifi6 devices. biggrin.gif

This RT-AX56U seems having an issue if I enabled wifi 6. On short distance like 1m away, tested using iperf3 on ipad air 4 (wifi 6 capable), averaging around 800Mbps and peak at 900Mbps on 80Hz channel width. But once I enter my room 7m away with 1 wall, the speed fluctuate alot going lowest 100Mbps to 400Mbps.

Disabling wifi 6 giving much stable speed. 1m away clear sight, 600Mbps average & 700Mbps peak. 7m away with 1 wall, 400Mbps average & 500Mbps peak.

Even my wifi 5 devices also perform better interms of speed and stability when disabling wifi 6 sweat.gif Btw, the 5GHz wifi5/6 testing above is using empty channel after scanning the network, so very minimal interference here.

Hopefully this issue can be fixed with firmware update. Running 3.0.0.4.384_9428 now.

DoT is most likely using Stubby with DNSMasq local caching.

Need some advise here.

Condo 1300 sqft
Time 100mbps with stock DLink DIR-805L router
Bad WiFi signal coverage in all 3 rooms, router located in living room (relative near to bedroom but with wall partition and seat beside my "floor speaker", I know it is not ideal with the big speaker beside the router.

Planning to improve WiFi signal.

Looking into Huawei AX3 or TP-Link AX20.

Will above router helps? Or should I use Mesh WiFi?
If not mistaken both model above do support Mesh WiFi.

Have a cable connected MiRouter 3 in room3 for WFH, but it only good in the room, it wouldn't roaming properly when I walk out to living hall.

Kids need better wifi for online class.... please advise...

Quick check on github shows Adguard Home uses its own dnsproxy app, therefore no need for Stubby. No mention of dnsmasq too, so I assume it's built-in too. I'm a github noob so I might be wrong sweat.gif

Just changed to Huawei AX3 Pro recently, this thing rocks! Double storey house, router at ground floor, gaming at 1st floor back room. More than 15+ devices connected

I happen to have both of them.

I will suggest the AX20 from TP-Link. The performance is more stable, signal is stronger, WiFi is faster and it runs much cooler.

Those that don't want to spend so much can try the TP Link AX20. Also well reviewed by Blacktubi.
