Lenovo limits approved Wifi cards in the BIOS, you have to search for a whitelisted BIOS and flash it.

Oh I see, I don't use the wifi on mine. Just use it as a router only.

Can I add mesh wifi to my existing network? Currently I have a wifi router, and would like to extend the coverage. From what I know so far, if I buy a mesh system, it will replace my router? Prefer not to replace it because it has more features such as VPN/DDNS/etc... I dont think most mesh system have this.

Hi, wanted to get some advices on whether to upgrade my router.

I’m currently subscribed to TIME 500mbps plan and using the stock router provided which is TP link ec230 (ac1350). For LAN cable, I can get 500mbps no problem at all, but for wifi speed, I only get around 150-200+ mbps even when standing next to the router.

My plan is to maximise the speed I can get on wifi, I wonder if changing the router will bring great improvement on speed? I watched some reviews and the router I’m planning to get is TP link AX20 and is it worth to spend the money to get a new router?

Saw that too, very tempting but sadly out of my budget. In the end, I just buy ax56u for rm303 after rm5 shop discount and before shopee coins deduction.

Not yet received, seller only ship out yesterday so damn slow. I'll report back once received and testing it, currently still using the stock time ac1200.

If you don't feel confident to do it yourself, maybe you could ask on the Thinkpad forums here. I've never set foot in a PC shop for years and I don't have a very high opinion of their capabilities.

One of my laptops is a X220, it was straightforward to flash a whitelisted BIOS, the X230 seems to be more involved.

i didnt plan to have internet connection on that router, only as a cctv system...

thinking to buy between both the option i stated before ( max rm150)

will it work?

the plan is to convert the router as a nas server by flashing it with openwrt and attached a usb hard disk to it ( saw a video on youtube)

xiaomi cctv ---> router with usb connected to hard disk ---> to my pc ( to view the video save in the hard disk )

sorry if asking in wrong thread... confused.gif
