Xs = 10S, hahaha... Ok, that makes more sense now...

I thought Apple was done with the 'S' phones after 6S when they went from iPhone 7 to iPhone 8. I'm guessing hardware-wise, there won't be any "wow" factor laugh.gif

6 with bigger screen, not so wow
6s, 3d touch. hardly used except for the tracking.
7. jet black? IP rating? dual camera? not really that wow
8, wireless charging....
x. face unlock and notch.....

Well, to be fair, the X was a new design, so that's a step in the right direction. Lost count of how many phones with notches appeared after the X.

Probably because the technology has become quite stagnant these past years.

they already mention iphone X the X is roman numerical, not ur fuking english alphabet. If ppl sohai keep X here and there, is sendiri sohai not aligned with Apple. So the new phone should be 10s, not X-s

True, the Note 9 isn't a substantial upgrade over the Note 8, yet you don't see Samsung receiving as much flak as Apple does for these incremental upgrades, hahaha....

Well, it is in terms of screen size, but maybe not in terms of dimensions since the phone has no bezels vs the thick, thick bezels of the 8 Plus laugh.gif

So far I see no reason to upgrade from x to the next generation or maybe that's just me.
Will probably hold my x until 2019 unless apple comes up with some surprise like 120hz screen.

Can't wait to get my hands on the XS max. Been waiting for this since last year's launch. Got the iPhone 8 plus last year because I didn't like the weird proportions of the X screen.

Also the Apple Watch Series 4. Finally a change.

I think they did a sly strategy. They know they can make alot revenue on Xr due to its lower price. And people who like to show off have to really pay premium and they Don give a fuk about it since they know Xr can oledi bring alot revenue.

Anyway it seems to me that Apple has gone a little overboard with the pricing for the Xs Max. Compared to the Xs it only has a larger screen and marginal better battery life.

Before with the plus and non plus versions at least the additional stuff you get on the plus justifies the extra premium you gotta pay a little more.

Not sure man but at launch the retail price for the X in Malaysia was RM5149 for 64GB and RM5899 for the 256GB with GST. But prices rapidly dropped from then on.

Retail price now for the X after SST is RM4857 for the 64GB and RM5565 for the 256GB now for places still selling it.

The 512GB for this year's iPhone X will most likely take last year's 256GB price point and the 256GB will sit in between.

Pro x vs xr were better build quality of stainless steel vs aluminium (but then xr aren't too shabby, its still an apple product afterall), amoled screen vs lcd, dualcam vs single cam, 3d touch vs non 3d touch, with cons of more pricier, previous gen cpu and maybe gpu too, maybe less battery life, single sim. According to the spec sheet the Xr’s battery will last 1.5 hours longer than the 8 Plus. That about clinches the deal for me smile.gif

I think since the "Raise To Wake" feature and iOS 10 on iPhone 6S and later, you could just rest your thumb on the Home button and wa la! Unlocked without the need to press smile.gif But that said, yeah, farewell, Touch ID, long live Face ID!

It's amazing how Apple keeps on charging these pricing and consumers will still buy them despite all the complaints. Peer pressure helps.

Seem like Apple will be the first on 7nm. I wonder if the battery consumption will improve or they will push more performance since they have more headroom now.

I work in a big MNC and I’ve noticed more fresh grads taking iPhone X than senior managers. biggrin.gif

Priority in life wrong. I have this theory where these millennials somehow need to buy the best and most expensive thing to impress and couldn’t afford the best car, so majority will go for the most expensive iPhone.

Oled screen alone cost over $100. It's the same chip, but still think XS is much more worthy than XR.

Just looking at the Singapore pricing will give you an idea on what our RRP will be like here. I think I'll be staying away from the Xs this round and will probably just go for the Xr.

Dual sim is not the normal dual sim u get in Android phone. Is like one nano sim and one eSim... which doesnt work in Msia.

Only China model will get true dual sims.

Apple does not simply hike their product. So I expect Xs 64 priced rm4857. And 5565 will be minimum price for 64gb Xs Max. Oh well at tat price point I might just get Xs too.. Not really keen on the huge screen. But yeah u get the wow factor since xs max is bigger and ppl may not notice u using xs unless u get the gold color. But I can say I love the new gold color.. Just looks tad classier

another way to look at it is, they are finding it difficult to own cars and houses.

Instead of paying interest to bank every month, they would rather spend the money for things that make them happy.

You still can only fit a single sim card even though it is dual. Once esim is fully operator supported in all countries u will truly wonder why there is even a need for two physical slot in the past.

If they are discontinuing 7/8/X after the Xr is launched it is still pretty much the same thing like before. However, the benefit for the folks on budget is tremendous as they using the new chip rather than the old chip.

Ya, I was thinking it would drop for the following year with the Max taking the price point of the X. Like the price point of then 7/7+. But their smaller screen keeps the price and the Max goes into a more obscene level. Pretty disappointing really.

I was watching the hands on video earlier and noticed the XR indeed have a slightly thicker bezel. All the more obvious since the back color is not black.

I was thinking of that too. I was sold on the ecg macthingie because i need to monitor my heartbeat nowdays. For sure im going to stick with my iphone x for now till i got a sick deal from my telco. If not then i dont mind using my iphone x for a while

Honestly speaking i was eyeing the XS Max for the bigger screen, i read a lot so will probably have a better experience on a bigger screen. It depends on the launch price tho lol

The XR looks good on paper, but after using the iphone x, i cannot tahan the lower pixel density lol (its...really obvious to me).

Yes, I can't believe ppl keep nag about new revolutionary features on S series. S is always subtle upgrade and more processing power and improvement of non s. IPhone x face Id not owes working also but xs improved on tat with upgraded true depth camera.

As if note 8 and note 9 has huge revolutionary diff lol. I am not die hard fan but I think ppl need to chill the fuk down.

Ah well...was hoping that pricing for the Xs Max would start at USD999 as previously rumoured.
Pretty much set on buying the Xs Max before the announcement but now gotta think twice as the 256GB will likely be more than RM6k....maybe the regular Xs will suffice

While I do not oppose newer technologies, I do feel that this Esim is still a way by smartphone manufacturers and telcos to limit and control end users from Telco hopping. I dont see any issues with using a sim card which I can swap out for whatever telco I like, more so when I am roaming overseas. This feature will be an inconvinience rather than a feature that will benefit consumers instead. As mentioned, Telcos has been dieing to implement this feature long time ago.

With Apple hevc and heif thingy u do able to save alot of space. Normally just do backup of older photos and delete those whatsapp junk photo and video which is what takes up most the space.

If not gaming much 64gb shud be suffice. My iPhone 6 plus also never fill up after using 3yrs

But then again, we as consumers would be at the mercy of telcos / phone manufacturers to send us the sim data (we need to have wifi access to do this ) while we can plug in any sim card now on the spot and use the phone immediately. It would be much easier for phone manufacturers to lock consumers from using other telcos not of their choice, something like sim lock in the US. Again, I dont see any issue with having to pluging a sim card into a phone. No trouble actually.

Alright. We will wait and see the implementation and how it runs. Anyway, I roam using my local telco most of the time, if possible (available roaming partners overseas) so that I dont need to switch out the sim card or carry another phone to tether data.

My storage usage already reached 80Gb++ for my IPX. So there is no choice for me except to go for the 256GB again this round. I think Apple must have kept tracked of all our usages to ditch the 128GB so we have to buy the 256GB. laugh.gif

based on 4 years trend, our pricing have been following singapore pricing. Compared to before, we are much2 cheaper than our neighbour. Thus i would expect the price would be almost similar to the current pricing of IpX.


moral of the stories Ive learned from my previous IpX is not to get the phone during launch.And we get our Malaysian launch quite fast. The iphone x still got stocks even after 2 weeks of launch in singapore, and the stocks available in Malaysia after that. And the best thing was lazada having massive discount with iphone x. GG

but the pricing for that scalpers reasonable i would say.

my cost for an iphone x at launch in singapore was

RM5.4k +RM 300 lost for fake Courts Advertisement (refund lost due to currency devaluation) + Park at orchard road RM20 + Mcdonalds meals for three RM50 + toll and ERP ~ RM70 and at that time currency was S$1 = RM3.1, his pricing for 3.2 was reasonable I would say.

And not to forget the experienced I had during the purchased with 100% check over my car at the border, and i was detained for 30 minutes and need to give urine at the narcotics unit for giving the real reason on why i went to Singapore and I said, i came here just to buy an iPhone which was not satisfied by a young rookie narcotic officer.

Thank god, i was not inside the lockup.

Not much changes, but yet in the ads they keep using ‘significant’ and ‘most advance’ word

Price still the same, i wonder why did they discontinue ipX last time if they r still selling with the same price

And now no adapter n slowest charger of all?

I’m trully dissappointed n ipX seems to me now is the best iphone there is, n u can get it cheaper once ipXs is available here

I don't put it as 'dissapointing' as my feelings towards Apple for this launch, but rather I wasn't expecting much from Cupertino. Apple has been squeezing consumers all along with its 'premium' pricing, mediocre upgrades and packages. It's really up to your personal choice to purchase their products, vs so many worthy competitor products from other manufacturers. For Apple, it would be max profits as there will be people who still will buy their products, irregardless.

That's the way Apple rolls. To be honest, there's been not much excitement since they revealed the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 4 before that. Every other iPhone released has been small, incremental updates in spite of the bombastic words they use during the keynotes laugh.gif

iPhone X has been discontinued and retailers are now clearing their stocks at 4,299 and 4,999 for the 64GB and 256GB respectively. It'll probably be sold out by the time the Xs reaches, but you're right, there's no compelling reason to upgrade from the X to the Xs.

Exactly, and to be fair, I think we've reached the point whereby there's only so much you can do for a new phone unless you want something gimmicky like a slide out camera? Right about that. Pay a bit more for the Xs. The display is not even up to the standards of a middle range android phone. But can our eyes really tell the difference? Some claim they could, if you ask me, all flagship phones looks similar in display.

Huawei should be looking at Samsung and leaving Apple alone. Same as how Samsung should be looking over its shoulders and eyeing Huawei with a close eye. Apple doesn't care if they don't make the most number of phones, they just want to make the most amount of profit.

Yeah, exactly this. Everytime I see those S9+ or Note 9 vs Apple phone comparison videos and the fanboys screaming at each other to no end on which is the better or faster phone, I cringe. It's a different ecosystem. Period. No one else makes iOS devices so Apple has been getting away with small, minor upgrades but with exorbitant prices. Some do move to a new ecosystem, but most have their reasons to stay or are just lazy to change.

Yes. Screen size and display is different. Max has a larger capacity battery. Just don't go for the XR. 720i display with single camera for Rm3k++.

My personal opinion is no, unless you go for the Xs Max. Instead of the Xs, an X is a cheaper option and not significantly inferior in any way to the Xs.

Well, some people complained the X was a bit too small for them coz they are used to those phablet sized screens, hence the Xs Max, hehe. For me personally the X is just right size coz like you said, it's single-handed friendly but battery life isn't stellar for heavy usage..

I think I will wait for next year , nearly pre order Xs max from Apple sg, but after seeing all the review and suggestion , will hold back instead .

Probably when it was a "Plus" version it really had "plus" improvements over the non plus version. For starters it had a larger and better screen (higher pixel density), a better camera, significantly better battery life etc.

The "Max" this time probably just meant it was a maximum sized iPhone and that's it. It's basically just a bigger Xs.

I bought PD USB-C fast wall charger and original Apple USB-C to lightning cable(RM83 for the cable), very fast charging, can get as fast as 3% in 2 minutes for <50% on my X.

Their reasons - proven eco system, smoothness , speed , app stability etc. Personally I will not pay more than rm4k for a phone even for such reasons. I had used all the IP till ip8+ ( except 5s) and yet remain unconvinced IP is more superior to other high end Androids. The only exception s it's better battery life but than isn't significantly better. This time I will go for the XR model and as usual will just be my secondary phone. My main attraction to it is solely it's 6.1 " display size

I know willing buyer willing seller but unless ppl stop buying apple will never reduce the price. It’s honestly getting out of hand.

RM5400 for XS Max 64GB is pretty good price for HK set. I might get one if they accept Amex with no extra charge.

When it's official here will be price higher than this. Most of the time.

Yes since iPhone8/8+/X last year. So will be the same onwards. After the official of course.
Let's wait later for double confirm from more concrete answer. But for me, I don't mind AP set with fully 1 year warranty. Not that 1 year motherboard, 3 months screen/battery/accs/etc.

is funny how you guys are rushing for the pre-order and flying down to SG/HK just to get a unit, all I had to do is just walk to 5th Avenue Apple flagship store at NYC on Friday after work and there will be plenty of stock waiting.

i had clarify with Apple Support which can be claim in Malaysia before i place order.. therefore it shouldn't be any problem. worst come to worst, if really can't claim at Malaysia, just go Apple Store Singapore.. LOL that's what i think la..

So maybe that seller doesn’t earn that much? Not sure though, either way I prefer to buy it when it’s locally available, or during my annual Christmas trip to Singapore smile.gif

I think for brighter Color ppl prefer gold than silver. Silver is always the least favoured Color for all the iphone models to date.

Yeah, that stainless steel sides is the reason I picked Space Grey over Silver, coz it looked better and more subtle than the shiny chrome sides of the Silver laugh.gif

I had a Gold 8 Plus and it wasn’t that nice, looked bit more like peach for me. Maybe need to see the Gold Xs first, like you said, maybe it’s more golden!

given the price of flagship iphone nowadays, i think not all will really change it every year unless one is on the some kind of annual upgrade programme unless you are talking about non-flagship android phones. however, it is certainly totally different experience. once you are in apple eco system, it will be hard to go to non-iOS devices.

for me i changes my phone every two years due to my telco contracts are two year. with the heavily subsidy, it is still ok. then the old phone will become my second phone that can use for another 2 to 3 years.

I prefer to put it this way. As the phone is getting morre expensive, so is their resale value. Especially, it's THE iphone.
So I bought the X last year around 4+k. Now it is still commanding 3k+ in the 2nd hand market.
So like you say, you only use the phone for 2 years max, you will lose maybe 1-2k plus when you sell it off later.
Same as Android also, where a galaxy S would depreciate from 3k to 1.x k after 1 year+

In that sense, we are just forking out more in the initial stage. The depreciation values are roughly the same. brows.gif

removing the adapter dongle and making it a separate order..? come on Apple billion dollar company and still no fast charger included.

Speaking as fan boy since IP4 and owned each year the fan-ness is slowly reducing.

Problem is the alternative - nothing much as i feel Android still a work in progress. Have used Samsung, Xioami, Nokia (experimenting you know..) still keep coming back to iOS. Should give a little more to keep the fan base loyal.

Smartphone technology has already reached a level where major improvements and breakthroughs are hard to come by. Manufacturers can also claim so much as better battery life, a faster processor, better screen and resolution, better camera etc where except battery life, you wont really notice a difference in your daily usage of the phone. While I don't blame them for the above, it is the increase in price which is the real issue. Some companies are really over their heads where they dare to price their products exorbitantly without fear of consumer backlash and reprisal. As consumers continue to buy their products, the more bold they become and the pricier their products get. The only thing you you as consumers can do, is to simply not buy. Lets see what is the outcome of the sales of this generation of the Iphone and if they could achieve their targeted sales volume.

I'm currently using 5s and I think its time to upgrade. It has been more than 4 years though. So should I upgrade to X now or grab the Xs later? For me every penny counts biggrin.gif

If every penny counts then just grab the X preused, not much of a diff between x and xs, but price wise yes..

yeah. 256gb is actually right size. my iphone x 256gb still left 146gb free space even i took many photos and 4k videos during my recent trip.

one of the concern is the lighting transfer speed. iphone x is not usb 3.0. hope that iphone xs now has better transfer speed.

For me, I will transfer on my each trip to my laptop as well.. so no points to put it everything inside the phone storages.
That's is why 256gb has a plenty of free speces.
