The names for the new iphones...seriously? Apple is not only out of ideas on improving the new phones, but cant even think of better names for them.

Oh well, mediocre upgrades and a super expensive price tag. Just as expected. No breakthroughs unless someone wants to consider dual Sim as one, for Apple at least.

QUOTE(attw @ Sep 13 2018, 08:10 AM) That's Apple for you in a nutshell these days. For me it will be the X's Max, I would need the bigger screen. Will wait it out though to see if the prices would come down a bit after launch, maybe discounts later from local online resellers. Don't think I will buy from Singapore this round.Just looking at the Singapore pricing will give you an idea on what our RRP will be like here. I think I'll be staying away from the Xs this round and will probably just go for the Xr. $2049 for the 256gb X's Max is like Rm6150. Not going to be an early adopter this round, No. I already insaf |

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Sep 13 2018, 08:33 AM) Apple does not simply hike their product. So I expect Xs 64 priced rm4857. And 5565 will be minimum price for 64gb Xs Max. Oh well at tat price point I might just get Xs too.. Not really keen on the huge screen. But yeah u get the wow factor since xs max is bigger and ppl may not notice u using xs unless u get the gold color. But I can say I love the new gold color.. Just looks tad classier Wow QUOTE(soitsuagain @ Sep 13 2018, 08:55 AM) You still can only fit a single sim card even though it is dual. Once esim is fully operator supported in all countries u will truly wonder why there is even a need for two physical slot in the past. While I do not oppose newer technologies, I do feel that this Esim is still a way by smartphone manufacturers and telcos to limit and control end users from Telco hopping. I dont see any issues with using a sim card which I can swap out for whatever telco I like, more so when I am roaming overseas. This feature will be an inconvinience rather than a feature that will benefit consumers instead. As mentioned, Telcos has been dieing to implement this feature long time ago. This post has been edited by TOMEI-R: Sep 13 2018, 11:00 AM |

QUOTE(soitsuagain @ Sep 13 2018, 11:22 AM) Esim would actually enhance telco swapping, to the point of even making it instantaneous. Think of it like how u would buy a movie ticket these days. It is going to be like swapping ur telco without ever going to a counter. This feature implementation is more on the hardware/OS side. So it is more power to phone manufacturers actually. True to that. But then again, we as consumers would be at the mercy of telcos / phone manufacturers to send us the sim data (we need to have wifi access to do this ) while we can plug in any sim card now on the spot and use the phone immediately. It would be much easier for phone manufacturers to lock consumers from using other telcos not of their choice, something like sim lock in the US. Again, I dont see any issue with having to pluging a sim card into a phone. No trouble actually. |

QUOTE(soitsuagain @ Sep 13 2018, 11:44 AM) Nah, let's say if u r a frequent flyer to say country B, the phone would automatically detect it and instantly switch it to ur previous telco from country B. Absolute. Zero. Hassle. Alright. We will wait and see the implementation and how it runs. Anyway, I roam using my local telco most of the time, if possible (available roaming partners overseas) so that I dont need to switch out the sim card or carry another phone to tether data. That's esim technology. |

QUOTE(attw @ Sep 13 2018, 11:41 AM) Yeah, my point exactly My storage usage already reached 80Gb++ for my IPX. So there is no choice for me except to go for the 256GB again this round. I think Apple must have kept tracked of all our usages to ditch the 128GB so we have to buy the 256GB. 64GB would suffice for most regular users, users into gaming and graphics and videography might want to opt for larger storage options. QUOTE(stevenng97 @ Sep 13 2018, 01:43 PM) Has been use over 2 years my storage still available 23gb I think is better for me to go 64gb right ? Hahaha much more cheaper Im not too sure how much space IOS 12 would take for official release version. But for your case, 64GB should still be adequate, for the time being.[attachmentid=10019171] |

QUOTE(Ch3n_low @ Sep 13 2018, 01:33 PM) I wonder when Iphone XR launch, will it be cheaper than Iphone X second hand price? or Iphone X will still be more premium one Of course the Iphone X would still be the premium model compared to the XR. Only that the X has been discontinued as it would be hard to distinguish the hierachy of the current line up with the new models. |

QUOTE(dino89 @ Sep 13 2018, 03:51 PM) Ahh..... I-ntelligence knows your storage is already 60GB. Thats is why they ditched the 128GB so that you will buy the 256GB. QUOTE(attw @ Sep 13 2018, 04:45 PM) Sudah bertaubat bro! But anyway, these scalpers are fasttttt...... |

QUOTE(bigboyjet @ Sep 13 2018, 03:58 PM) From a reseller here: To be fair, the stated prices are almost direct conversion from SGD RRP. For example, the IP XS Max 256GB is SGD $2049 = Rm6190.38Preorder starts tomorrow evening and the phone will be released on 21/9. Arrival of phones - 28/9 weekend. Phones will be from Australia. Expensive? Fuck ya. QUOTE(fadzly @ Sep 13 2018, 07:35 PM) but the pricing for that scalpers reasonable i would say. Bro you are back! We meet again after last year's fiasco. So when is our planned TT with @attw]? my cost for an iphone x at launch in singapore was RM5.4k +RM 300 lost for fake Courts Advertisement (refund lost due to currency devaluation) + Park at orchard road RM20 + Mcdonalds meals for three RM50 + toll and ERP ~ RM70 and at that time currency was S$1 = RM3.1, his pricing for 3.2 was reasonable I would say. And not to forget the experienced I had during the purchased with 100% check over my car at the border, and i was detained for 30 minutes and need to give urine at the narcotics unit for giving the real reason on why i went to Singapore and I said, i came here just to buy an iPhone which was not satisfied by a young rookie narcotic officer. Thank god, i was not inside the lockup. |

QUOTE(yayiyu99 @ Sep 14 2018, 07:52 AM) Another trick from Apple to make people think it is 120Hz refresh rate. QUOTE(sonypshomer @ Sep 14 2018, 07:57 AM) QUOTE(faiz293 @ Sep 14 2018, 08:06 AM) Im pretty mad and really dissappointed with apple this time. I don't put it as 'dissapointing' as my feelings towards Apple for this launch, but rather I wasn't expecting much from Cupertino. Apple has been squeezing consumers all along with its 'premium' pricing, mediocre upgrades and packages. It's really up to your personal choice to purchase their products, vs so many worthy competitor products from other manufacturers. For Apple, it would be max profits as there will be people who still will buy their products, irregardless. Not much changes, but yet in the ads they keep using ‘significant’ and ‘most advance’ word Price still the same, i wonder why did they discontinue ipX last time if they r still selling with the same price And now no adapter n slowest charger of all? I’m trully dissappointed n ipX seems to me now is the best iphone there is, n u can get it cheaper once ipXs is available here This post has been edited by TOMEI-R: Sep 14 2018, 08:13 AM |

QUOTE(attw @ Sep 14 2018, 08:15 AM) That's the way Apple rolls. To be honest, there's been not much excitement since they revealed the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 4 before that. Every other iPhone released has been small, incremental updates in spite of the bombastic words they use during the keynotes The Note 9 was cleverly marketed by Samsung. It didn't get a huge bump in pricing. There was no major upgrade from the Note 8 except an upgrade in battery life, new stylus to name a few. It didn't change in the design/looks department. But Samsung played it smart and right this round, no major increase in price and there was a preorder gift which was the Gear Sport which was worth Rm1299 which came with the preorder package. This made the preorder package a really good buy as it meant that the phone was being sold for much lower than its rrp of Rm3699. As usual, I got bored with the phone in less than a week after using it, but hey I'm not complaining, I got a free watch which I was unwilling to buy at first at Rm1299, and that makes it a very worthy and value buy.iPhone X has been discontinued and retailers are now clearing their stocks at 4,299 and 4,999 for the 64GB and 256GB respectively. It'll probably be sold out by the time the Xs reaches, but you're right, there's no compelling reason to upgrade from the X to the Xs. Exactly, and to be fair, I think we've reached the point whereby there's only so much you can do for a new phone unless you want something gimmicky like a slide out camera? The Note 9 was in many ways also a very small upgrade over the Note 8 and yet I don't see Samsung getting as much flak as Apple. Probably also due to the ridiculous price Apple charges to maximize their profit, as you rightly put it. This post has been edited by TOMEI-R: Sep 14 2018, 08:27 AM |
