If pay at PTPTN portal, it accepts AMEX.
Not sure PTPTN office.

Is there any difference if I were to use PayPal for US transaction?

I tried to purchase once with Amex, basically it's
Call MB CS to activate > Purchase > Receive email from merchant request security code > Call CS again for the code > Reply email > Payment approved

Does PayPal make it more convenient in any way if I have linked my card to it? Also which currency conversion will be used, MB or PayPal?

Does anyone know with the new RM25 Levy per credit card, M2U holders need pay twice for amex + visa or only once?
*
they allow u to cancel either one, & the RM25 can be paid by using 10,000 TP.

met a guy at 1U card centre who managed to get his RM25 waived after he appealed to MBB CC's management team - his strong point is that he often travels overseas & uses the card regularly.

No charges/
It depends on your usage. We have multiple cards.
Nope. AmEx contactless is still new in Malaysia, I think none of the terminals are ready for it.
If Visa/MC then no issue.
Twice. So cancel your Visa.
You can add but if it is in MYR, PayPal will not choose AmEx to pay with it because it doesn't allow.

I applied for increasing my limit there keep fail than fed up email them manually approved haha

Just wish to reply to your post even though it's an 'old' one.

Then you're considered lucky (a term i 'prefer' when it comes to these credit applications). My experience, credit limit increase applications rejected 5x times (2x manually through staff/branch personnel on separate occasions, 1x through m2c, 2x appeal via email). My emails included long justifications together with attachments of any other relevant income/saving documents i could think of (with the hope that the 'persons' considering these appeals would actually understand the situation before making the final decisions but to no avail). No ptptn loan, ccris and ctos clean, always paid everything in full with statement balances.

A month later, applied for the fcb mbb cc through another bank staff. Got it with an increase to my credit limit. By then the limit increase was 'useless' to me because at the time of my first application for the credit limit increase i had wanted to utilise the then existing 0% 12 months mbb BT for a big purchase (my sole reason for the request). Had no choice then but to use the PBB 0% 6 months BT instead, losing some 'interests' dry.gif . Though some would say 'why don't you 'redo' the BT since no statement is needed', but why the extra 'hassle' of an additional BT? I'm not like the pros or super disciplined ones here who can do that..

So what do i gather from all these? Just apply and fingers crossed.

Hi guys, plan to buy something from USA using AMEX 2 Card, is it is the cash back 5% sufficient to cover the exchange rate? Please advise.

I tried to compare USD : MYR rate provided by Amex (against visa and master), but Amex do not publish the exchange rate publicly like visa & master.

If u fall within the 5% weekend cash back when using AMEX, it should more than enough to cover the exchange rate and charges imposed by bank.

Amex : + 2.5 to 3%
Visa/MasterCard: + 2 to 2.5%

Spend after 8pm Saturday Malaysia Time (GMT+8), the transaction date (local time in US, not Malaysia time) must be Sat/Sun to get the 5% rebate (+5 TP worth 1%).

P/S avoid using the Amex CC on Black Friday.

That is only for New York time which is 12 hours apart.
If you refer to California (Silicon Valley) time, it'll 16 hours apart.

Thanks. You really have a lot of useful info.

Have to cancel my unactivated card.

Edit : 2 cards applied after SST cannot be cancelled separately. Anyone applied after Sept 1 managed to cancel only one of them?

Yes, it is. The officer in The Gardens also confirmed with me, so he asked me to add new card after April which is my expiry month. sweat.gif
