Getting rejected 3 times now. I have the petronas visa card, and salary is banked in to MB too. Should I keep applying or wait for a while first?
*
I understand you, though in my case i applied for credit limit increase (only peanuts 6k now). Because according to the bank staff if you're applying for new cc from mbb, the existing cc limit will likely be revised too.. Then should be somewhat similar right? Mbb is also my income crediting bank..

Anyway, I have applied 5x for cc limit increase from mbb which includes 3x appeals (and further recommendation from manager lastly), very sadly still declined. Ccris clean.. Substantial savings in amanah saham (even gave them detail statements for the year for all funds to prove I'm not using any of the money in AS) in the event they think I'm not 'credit worthy'..

No problem getting new cc from pbb (supposedly very strict too) and their cc limit is 4x my mbb limit (also apparently strict on their cc limit). Also no issue with temporary cc limit increase from cimb.. Absolutely embarrassing.. Lost 1 future client, think I'm not the only one judging from this thread (don't think they care anyway). Ultimately as I've mentioned before, it's just pure luck.. Just keep applying after intermittent period..

If you don't need the high limit, don't bother with it lah. I never change my CIMB limit for 10 years. I did try to reduce the limit when I just got it, but they told me that's the minimum for my card. So.......... smile.gif Just Platinum, not the high end cards.
*
I see.. Yea. Actually I wanted the high limit then because i wanted to utilize the mbb 0% 12 months bt plan, which was reintroduced and i coincidentally also had a large purchase around the same time.. Previously i wasn't too concerned about the low limit given, been using the card for more than 3 years with the initial limit given (more than sufficient for the cb).. So yea, ended up using the pbb 0% 6 months bt plan only.. So you see there's a 'loss of business' (since someone mentioned before, banks hope those who use BT will fail to pay and then earn from the late interest).. Can't also say they don't care about ikan bilis right, otherwise they won't be bothered to offer many types of loan facilities/products to ikan bilis.. Business is business, doesn't matter your financial background..

But at least the experience was an eye opener for me.. So, just apply any cards you like and hope for the best (literally).. laugh.gif

Just called the CS. Got bullshitted twice by the same person ranting.gif .

1. Cannot transfer my BT from the useless Visa card to Amex
2. Cannot cancel the Visa as it's bundled with the Amex under M2c

Will call again until I get the right outcome.

I wonder what action can we do when dealing with this kind of CS since there is no official notice in Maybank website?

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Oct 1 2018, 12:32 PM)
isn't point 2 correct?

#Victor don't think there's much we can do. Just recall and talk to a different CS.

Just called again and managed to get the approval to move my BT installments from the M2c Visa card to the Amex card. According to CS will be done within 5 working days.

Another surprising thing is the CS said I can only transfer the installment if I want to cancel the Visa card rolleyes.gif ..

Conversation with CS:
Me: I want to transfer my BT installment from m2visa to m2amex
Cs: reason?
Me: I plan to cancel m2visa
Cs: when u want to cancel?
Me: next month
Cs: u need to cancel now only I can help to transfer the BT to amex
Me: ok, please proceed to cancel and transfer BT installment
Cs: what is the reason?
Me: I don’t want to pay SST
CS: understand, will proceed to terminate with immediate effect and please settle the outstanding today, BT installment will be transfer to AMEX within 5 working days.
*
Thanks, glad to know that this is consistent with my experience with the CS. Otherwise I'd think the CS was just trying something 'funny' when he insisted that the visa/mc must be cancelled immediately before he can proceed with the request to transfer all oustanding installments to the amex card, since nobody else reported on something similar here..

Last time i called in Maybank to remove the supplementary cards of maybank amex and visa in my wife's maybank2u because i already cancelled it long ago. Few days later they removed my cards in my maybank2u instead of hers. Then called in again to solve this issue, they restored mine but didnt remove hers. Now i give up already la.. So troublesome..
*
MBB at its finest. I can still see my cancelled visa too.. Can't believe we have to call them 'more than once' to get your cards removed from the system in the event that it's not removed yet (and from this thread it seems to be a 'normal' situation). On the contrary, my cc cancellation with CIMB was instantaneous, called CS, logged in cimb clicks at the same time, when requested to cancel, immediately reflected on my cimb clicks. The card was already 'gone' by the time the CS officially communicated to me (same call) that my card cancellation request has been approved.. If CIMB can, why can't they? whistling.gif (afterall it's sort of an open secret that these two 'compete' a lot)..

I applied for increasing my limit there keep fail than fed up email them manually approved haha

Just wish to reply to your post even though it's an 'old' one.

Then you're considered lucky (a term i 'prefer' when it comes to these credit applications). My experience, credit limit increase applications rejected 5x times (2x manually through staff/branch personnel on separate occasions, 1x through m2c, 2x appeal via email). My emails included long justifications together with attachments of any other relevant income/saving documents i could think of (with the hope that the 'persons' considering these appeals would actually understand the situation before making the final decisions but to no avail). No ptptn loan, ccris and ctos clean, always paid everything in full with statement balances.

A month later, applied for the fcb mbb cc through another bank staff. Got it with an increase to my credit limit. By then the limit increase was 'useless' to me because at the time of my first application for the credit limit increase i had wanted to utilise the then existing 0% 12 months mbb BT for a big purchase (my sole reason for the request). Had no choice then but to use the PBB 0% 6 months BT instead, losing some 'interests' dry.gif . Though some would say 'why don't you 'redo' the BT since no statement is needed', but why the extra 'hassle' of an additional BT? I'm not like the pros or super disciplined ones here who can do that..

So what do i gather from all these? Just apply and fingers crossed.

Thanks for all the feedbacks! Looks like I will go for bigpay instead then to lower the currency conversion charge. Don't think swiping AMEX for the 5% and TP is worth all the charges
*
QUOTE(BIGPAY ABUSER BENJAMIN @ Nov 3 2018, 09:13 AM)
You should just use the 5% card since it negates the foreign transaction fee of 2.7%. American Express uses a near interbank foreign exchange rate. It's the same fore Visa or Mastercard. The card associations do not have hidden fees in the form of a wide foreign exchange spread.
*
Hi guys. Sorry to bring up the old posts but I have a similar dilemma now and hence the question. Hoep you don't mind. Seems like there's two views here. I actually plan to do some foreign transactions over the weekend, so should I use bigpay or the Amex with the 5% cb?

Use M2Amex Gold/Platinum if you still have rebate quota for Dec 2018. 2-3% advantage over BP.

If you spend in foreign currencies during 15/11/18-15/2/19, you may win RM100 (3000 winners). T&C...

sad.gif  I apply for Maybank 2 Cards it got rejected for second time after 6 months , I fulfill the requirement which more than annual income 30k . How it got approve easily ?
*
From my personal experience, it's mainly on luck. Doesn't matter if your CCRIS is super clean AND your CTOS rates you as a very eligible customer for credit application from the banks (ie high scores, and bear in mind ctos or other similar credit rating reports take into account your credit utilization, total loans, loan types etc).. They can still pick on the 'minor stuff' and reject you.. You'll find many bizarre examples/cases being shared in many of the credit card threads here..

I mean, come on, is granting say 2k credit limit an unreasonable risk? When you have say a 5 digit monthly income tongue.gif just an example..

Just keep trying.. Apply, appeal, and reapply in a few months time if the initial applications don't succeed..

Or if you must have it asap, you could consider another possible route (subject to bank's acceptance/approval), using fd to pledge and get your cc..

Erm meaning negotiate with the credit card department let say I willing to put 10k FD in MBB , but you have to approve my cc application ?
*
Er, it's still up to the bank's discretion on whether they accept such an arrangement, they don't 'HAVE TO' approve just because of the pledge, but if you really want the cc asap you can consider this option and enquire further from the bank.. Also bear in mind the t&c when it comes to pledging fd for cc..

Hi fruitie starry-starry, hope you don't mind me asking you some questions. Did a search and read through your earlier exchanges in the past but I am still kinda unclear about them sweat.gif .

My m2c gold has an expiry date of 02/21 and I wish to apply for an upgrade to the m2c plat. If i understand you both correctly, can i attempt to apply for the upgrade anytime now and then cancel the gold card (assuming the plat is approved in early Feb), so i only get charged for SST once (or 2x since it comes with the mc/visa) on the plat?

Or is it too late to do it now? Appreciate your feedback..

I think better for you to upgrade on 1st Feb onward, scared now considered approval in Jan...

QUOTE(CrazyGrandpa @ Jan 29 2019, 06:12 PM)
you now can apply the upgrade first. When you get the plat cards, then you call to cancel gold cards.

mine is 01/21 but now yet to charge SST so i guess SST will be charged on monthend.
*
QUOTE(#Victor @ Jan 29 2019, 07:01 PM)
U can already apply no as the SST date for January (15th) already passed.

Ok, thanks ya guys/girl! Appreciate it thumbup.gif

Looks like i hit a big wall for this mbb CC. Everything 'failed'..

1. Got my platinum approved and wanted to cancel the m2c MC that came together with the Amex and was told I can't cancel it at all. If i cancel the mastercard i'll have to cancel the amex.
2. Ask to transfer all outstanding instalment payments from amex gold to amex plat. Denied, was told it can't be done.

Didn't try to ask about the possible TP transfer though since i was already given two negative answers to my requests.

TP possible for gold to plat.

btw, did u ask at the service centre? or called? afair, instalment can be transferred too, as the reason you are requesting to upgrade from gold to platinum, and wanted to cancel gold
*
Thanks.

I called the plat sc. Yes, i've done the instalment transfer before and it was allowed, that time it was from the m2c visa to m2c amex. Wil try again tomorrow, hopefully i don't need to call several times to get everything done.. shakehead.gif

Tell them you are willing to keep Gold cards if you are given with 2xRM 50 cash back every month. We all know it's not possible, why can't let you just maintain Plat and transfer everything from Gold? laugh.gif

Sometimes a little bit of 'logic/common sense' does help in these kind of situations.. sweat.gif

Unfortunately in my case perhaps 'minimal' mental exercise was done with just a regurgitation of the 'standard answers'.. dry.gif

MBB CS is always good based on my experience, probably its service has deteriorating these days.

Thanks, will do.

Yea, probably some 'internal training' for the CS staff to beef up the services would help..

Haha, thanks for the suggestion, only when the situation aggravates sweat.gif .. Will try CS for now.. I was last informed by the CS that they can only attend to my requests when i physically receive my card (this is my second attempt btw).. Will only activate the m2c amex plat though..

My requests = transfer all tp and existing monthly instalments from amex gold to amex plat. As for the cancellation of 1 of the m2c cards (ie visa/mastercard), i was informed that i will still have to pay the rm25 sst even if i cancel the m2c visa/mastercard..
