Dumb Maybank and/or Gov

Since M2C comes by default with two cards and we have no option to keep only one of it, it shld be treated as a single product/card for the purposes of credit card tax.

Now it seems like to have pay RM 50 x 2
*
let's not jump to conclusion first. no final announcement from mbb regarding this.

there are 2 parts most ppl dont understand at all.

1) CHARGING of RM25/card SST is a MUST. so m2cards will get 2xRM25 for sure.

2) WAIVING is not part of SST but from the respective bank. in this case, whether Maybank has formulated a strategy/plan to absorb 1xRM25 for m2card, due to the nature of the combo that disallow users to cancel either card. if either card can be canceled, i dont think mbb willing to absorb, and just let user decide to keep the card (hence paying SST) or cancel (avoid paying SST).

what we are interested now is the part 2.... is mbb willing to absorb or not.

based on my chat with CS, TP redemption is at 12.5k TP to redeem/offset RM25 SST.

If i remember correctly when SST1.0 time this Maybank2kard i was only charged RM50 for both... hopefully this policy still apply as the card comes in 2 even most of us only desire to use/have 1...
*
check back your old statement.

it was charged 2xRM50 for both. 1xRM50 autowaived in Amex card. effective you only need to pay 1xRM50 for m2card.

Well you can't look at it this way. Some banks have loopholes like PB Quantum and also VS if supp card with saperate statement then you can double cash back limit (ie Rm38 for principle and then supp can also earn up to Rm38)
*
m2c has been grilled for yearsssssssssssssss ... no such loophole anyway

even thread here already reached v20 today. pbb only reached its 8th threads.

called up maybank to change my statement date and enquire about the SST charge,

For Maybank2Cards, each card will be charged rm25. No waive as such. So total RM50 will be charged la.

A way to waive is to use 10,000 treatpoints for one card. So if you wanna waive both cards, be prepared to use 20,000 treatpoints :/

10k TP? even lower when i asked few days ago, 12.5k TP biggrin.gif

10k TP, spending with m2c amex for stuffs that gives 5xTP seems doable.

anyone know, if we have multiple cards, will maybank charge SST follow the renewal month on the card or follow their existing system - the renewal month of my first card from maybank?
*
read the FAQ

mbb seems to follow card expiry month for each card

there are few grey areas, especially on the TP redemption.

FAQ Clause #11 has this: The redemption is applicable to cards that are awarded with TreatsPoints or Membership Rewards Points.

1) does it mean only cards with TP features can redeem?
2) each card redeem from its own TP or cumulative?
3) how about cards without TP like FCB VS?

My experient is no, wouldn't get cash back, but you will get cash back for the installment amount if the installement (statement date) is fall on weekend some month.
*
just sharing my recent purchase.

went senq, bought a new laptop using amex @ 25 Aug (Sat). converted directly to maybank 6mth installment (without additional fee). maybank terminal. printed mbb receipt showing installment amount + last month amount.

today, ZERO cashback received for Amex (was expecting full RM50) bye.gif

TP-wise, if i counted correctly, 1X TP credited few days after purchase. i guess the remaining 4X TP after statement generated (?), which is this weekend.

1st installment falls on this weekend. will monitor on 2 Oct if my Amex gets cashback for the installment amount that falls on weekend smile.gif

Same goes to me.

I have transaction on 18 August 2018 (Saturday) option for 12 months 0%, was expecting to see full rebate too.  sad.gif

Rebate for instalment is now changed, few years ago, it will obtained full rebate + 5 TP earned.
*
QUOTE(sj0217 @ Sep 2 2018, 03:30 PM)
Yup, I did call the CS Team

Officer told me that it should be getting full rebate since this is Easy Payment but not Easy Plus Payment.

He then raised a report for me to Rebate Department to check and see, 5 working days needed.

Easy Plus Payment = Meaning card holder call in to the bank and request for instalment plan, offer by bank itself

For TP earn, easy payment only x1 TP given
*
thanks for sharing.

i'll give MBB a call as well.

**update: CS filed a report. she suspected due to some error during SST cutover on 1 Sep. Asked about EPP, the cb is based on the actual full amount, not the installments later. **

Can share where the exclusion for FPX is stated for Visa/Mastercard? Btw, Jompay transactions are eligible for cashback for UOB YOLO so should be applicable for Amex too unless it is specifically excluded like FCB VS.
*
cannot compare with other cards la. each has their own logic.

fpx/jompay not entitle amex cb is not stated, hence you can file dispute and argue the fact. my friend did just that, havent hear from him the outcome.

not per transaction

per month, total earned cb min rm1 to be awarded. meaning 1 month min spend rm20.

did u spend <rm20 per month and gotten cb for <rm1?
