Just being turbo-ed 2 days ago. Restarted the modem and on back after 10 minutes. But facing a weird issues here. Every time after restart the modem it works fine but the next day, it will back to the previous speed again, for me is 800 mbps back to 100 mbps.
Then if restart again will get back to the turbo-ed speed. Is this consider normal as I saw many are mentioned about the pilot phase for this turbo-ed plan.  Is anyone here facing the same issues also?

Shouldn't be. What BTU? What router?

You happy or not? Your room to router is like Pudu to Puchong.

BTU: Alcatel Lucent I240G
Router: Asus RT-AC58U

Now even worst, after restart 2 times still the same. Guess they just run some test this few days and then turbo down the speed afterwards to wait for more stable release? rclxub.gif

Hi, i just got turbo'ed to 800mbps.

Currently still using the dlink DIR-850L provided by tm.
I understand the this model won't be able to deliver the full speed mentioned on wifi but able to do so on wired.

I tested when connected directly to the router, i get 800mbps+- speed, but problem occur when i try it via my tplink home plug (av1200), supposedly it supported up to 1200mbps (on paper) on gigabit lan, but when go through it i can only reach a maximum speed of 100mbps++.
Im not quite sure it is due to the structure of the wiring of house or it is the limitation of the said homeplug.

Is there any way to test it ?

*The cable that I used with it is CAT5E, tested can get full speed if connected directly at the router.
*
It is the structure of the wiring of the house, and the fact that homeplugs are very sensitive to electrical noise, and NOT recommended at all, as data travel on electrical wiring, and any disturbance on the line will severely impact the speed.

Maybe the location from your house to the cabinet quite far (more than 2KM) albeit your address was under SUBB which supposed the maximum attainable speed is 10Mbps.

What do you mean? It's better than not connected at all and speed below 5 Mbps.... I guess it's okay for now until i get DIR878 or higher ones .

Nice stacking idea. I use notebook coolers to cool the hardware.

Once you reboot your router, it went back okay?

just use network analyzer apps on your device to see what is your wifi speed coming to your device. remember if you get 80% of your wifi speed, you are good already.

Have another question:

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Sep 14 2018, 08:11 PM)
Your BTU could be capped. Did you try connecting directly to the BTU and see the connection speed on your PC?
*
Never tried this setup before. If I connect my laptop directly to the BTU, I can immediately surf the net? Any setup required? (eg. need to enter username and password manually like in the router page)

Nope. You can’t surf the net, and you still need a router. It is just mainly for testing purposes to see if your BTU supports gigabit speed for now.

Still waiting for turbo upgrade to 800. Checked my latest bill and been charged 139.50. The rate is reduced to 132 instead of the usual 189. Seems like they are upgrading their billing system with the new package coming in. Good to see they are reducing the price in accordance with new plan.

Going to get new router/mesh network system/something to upgrade the house infra today (Refer here for original setup) with some options in mind:

(Mostly based on suggestion on first post and some other sources)
1. TP-Link Archer C3150
2. TP-Link Deco M9 Plus
3. TP-Link Archer C5400
4. TP-Link Archer 5400X
5. Netgear Orbi RBK50
6. Netgear Nighthawk X4S R7800
7. Netgear Nighthawk X6S R8000P
8. Netgear Nighthawk AC3200 R8000
9. Asus Lyra Trio
10. Asus Blue Cave
11. Asus RT-AC86U
12. Asus RT-AC5300

Any better suggestion would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi Richard,

I am as well looking for a solution due to the turbo'ed speed of 500 Mbps but doesn't have as much budget as your listed suggestion but eagerly to know what is your final solution.

Anyway, I did come across with this link analysis-wifi-asus-aimesh-performance that testing the performance in an apartment layout with the following:

Standalone - ASUS RT-AC88U
AiMesh - ASUS RT-AC88U -> ASUS RT-AC86U
Standard mesh system - TP-Link Deco M5

I am interested mainly to improve the WIFI signal/performance on a normal double story terrace house thus looking into such solution but at current of local scene perhaps not that many having the above test scenario tested with Unifi Turbo'ed speed and it seems a costly setup too.

If you already go ahead with a good solution then much appreciate you may share it to me smile.gif. Thank you.
