LAN is 1Gbps. If your max speed is only 280Mbps, try with a different RJ45 cable, preferably Cat 6. If it is still low, it could be that your connection is still pilot phase.
*
I'm on cat 6 on port 1, however I have 3 more cat 5e on the 3 remaining ports. Does having too many LAN affect the speed drastically?

Update: I noticed the 4th port is actually connected to an ethernet extender which has another 3 more LAN ports. But in actual use only the first two ports (from router) are for PC purposes.

Would getting a Cat 6 cable helps if the connection from my BTU to router is still Cat 5e?

My BTU and router are situated at different floors, so the cable goes through the wall via wall socket (using CAT 5e), it would be near impossible to replace it, unless i shift the location of my router.

If I were to use Cat 6 cable for connection between router and devices, would it help in the speed? Or would the Cat 5e connection between BTU and router bottlenecks it so the Cat 6 cable is useless?
*
It won't help significantly. Cat 5e is actually more than enough.

i just ran a speedtest on my pc downstairs (dlink cat 5e) at 257 mbps
while my pc upstairs is only 203 mbps (CK-LINK cat 6)

does that mean i got a cheap cat 6 cable? theoretically cat 6 should be better than 5e right?

hey guys,

i am very confusing right now, bcoz there are so many version of story about the RM129 100MBPS plan. i went to TM point and the lady told me the pro plan 100mbps RM129 is just a basic plan which come with free call 600min, if you wan watch unifi TV through big screen on TV, then you need add-on another RM30 for that. Although i tell her i currently own a STB under 30mbps plan. She said the RM129 only can watch unifi TV using mobile app, i wan the basic channel for my mum and dad but i dun wan fork out more money on that, so who success change to this plan can you tell me does this true ?

so far waiting durian runtuh for turbo like forever........
*
suppose you can use the older STB back... based on the FAQ, even unifi lite can use back STB...

check at faq, under upgrade/downgrade, para 5...

QUOTE
5. If I am an existing unifi VIP subscriber with unifi TV Set-Top-Box (STB) and I have upgraded to unifi lite planâ„¢, can I view unifi TV content from my existing unifi TV STB?

Yes, if you have upgraded your broadband package to unifi lite planâ„¢, you can still experience the unifi TV content from your preferred unifi TV pack whether it is Aneka Plus/Ruby Plus/Varnam Plus/Ultimate pack using your existing unifi TV Set-Top-Box.

It should be better thereotically, but there are many issues why it is different. Length of cable and other factors with your individual PC configuration does play a part too. I would suggest waiting to see if you will eventually get full speed, as TM is currently on their pilot phase, and testing things out

Just being turbo-ed 2 days ago. Restarted the modem and on back after 10 minutes. But facing a weird issues here. Every time after restart the modem it works fine but the next day, it will back to the previous speed again, for me is 800 mbps back to 100 mbps.
Then if restart again will get back to the turbo-ed speed. Is this consider normal as I saw many are mentioned about the pilot phase for this turbo-ed plan. Is anyone here facing the same issues also?

Nope. TM have to upgrade the physical infra in your area.

It is indeed pilot phase so things like that could potentially happen.

Hi, i just got turbo'ed to 800mbps.

Currently still using the dlink DIR-850L provided by tm.
I understand the this model won't be able to deliver the full speed mentioned on wifi but able to do so on wired.

I tested when connected directly to the router, i get 800mbps+- speed, but problem occur when i try it via my tplink home plug (av1200), supposedly it supported up to 1200mbps (on paper) on gigabit lan, but when go through it i can only reach a maximum speed of 100mbps++.
Im not quite sure it is due to the structure of the wiring of house or it is the limitation of the said homeplug.

Is there any way to test it ?

*The cable that I used with it is CAT5E, tested can get full speed if connected directly at the router.

Screw the homeplug. Run your own cat6 around the house or get a more powerful router

I had a friend who bought a six antenna tplink WDR7400
from taobao which was only released for the China market and asked me to configure it to replace his crappy trashcan unifi router at his house.

Turns out the this router's  firmware had no option to change the native Chinese language web interface so by translating whole pages of the UI using Google translate I found no support for vlan tagging which made this router unusable for unified.

My friend was lured by the six antennas and fast wifi specs coupled with a sub rm200.00 price tag.

So make sure that you check the specs carefully before you pull the trigger on these Chinese market routers.

7400 is fast ethernet...

Good for you. Finally solve the speed problem. I think it's sufficient. No point in spending unnecessary money.

The password should be on a sticker somewhere.

As for AC, if you're some distance away and behind a door or a wall, you can pretty much forget about high speeds. If you really want the speed, it's better to pull a cable and install a 5Ghz AP in your room.

The cable is probably just bad. I have a bad Cat5e which refuses to link at 1Gbps all the time and I have a Cat5 cable which links at 1Gbps but transfers at a max of 350Mbps.
*
I see.... One question though...

tommorow i am going to Thundermatch to check out AC USB adapter or Cat5e ( Do i need Cat6 ? )

found the password , logged in, just checking out it's interface and didn't change anything. Just want to familiar with it.

I see, they tried the Blue Cat5e and they get only above 90+ and won't hit pass 100Mbps. The red is Fine as the other day i tested it with Alcatel 1240G by directly connecting to my PC Lan Port ( 1219-V ) Gigabit. Now it's connectin the Router and BTU.

There's Harvey Norman beside thundermatch , and i will check and compare pricing before buying. ( Cable or USB ) Need to measure how long i really need should i want to route from the router to my room.
