hi all network sifu
i just got turbo-ed from 30mbps to 300mbps (technically speaking)
got SMS from TM and i tested but speed only 80-90mbps feel like capped
user posted image

modem using TM Alcatel I240G
router using ASUS RT-N12 should be able to support 300mbps (on the spec)

is there anyway to solve this? setting on pc/network or something?
another thing i can think of is my lan cable change to cat6? (currently on 5 or 5e)

Did you do speedtest on wifi?,Please read the green text onfirst page
*
yes i did on my phone same result as posted around 80-90mbps

yes i do read the green text on the 1st page and?
like i say all my hardware should support 300mbps (other then lan cable will get cat 6 tomoro)
mobo using msi z270 gaming plus the lan port power by intel also should be able to support +

and my link speed if i set it on 1 gbps i would get connection
so i wonder if other then the lan cable will there be other problem making the slow in speed (80-90 mbps)

Your router port RJ45 for 10/100 BaseT for WAN x 1, RJ45 for 10/100 BaseT for LAN x 4... So max 100mbps.. When you check about speed, please check the port limitation first... Data rate doesn't equal to internet speed...

Checked your Router spec look like your router doesn`t support gigabit ethenet, Time to upgrade to new router sweat.gif
RJ45 for 10/100 BaseT for WAN x 1, RJ45 for 10/100 BaseT for LAN x 4
*
i see
as im not good on network, what does "RJ45 for 10/100 BaseT for WAN x 1, RJ45 for 10/100 BaseT for LAN x 4" really mean?
my router max support only 100mbps?

so which is the cheapest or best bang for bucks router that support gigabyte speed?
and how to know/check if the router support gigabyte speed?
not need super highend as im only 1 user

The cheapest I can find are Tenda AC 15 or AC 18 and PROLiNK PRC3801...
*
so to read router spec that support fast speed is
RJ45 for 10/100/1000 BaseT for WAN x 1, RJ45 for 10/100/1000 BaseT for LAN x 4
so must have the 1000 meaning can support up to 1gbps?

sry abit blur on network

so if i choose the "RT-N800HP - 100Mbps" but im on unifi 800mbps
i wont get more then 100mbps? but it does have a gigabyte port no?

It does, but I only meant that for wireless, not wired. Will add a description later. Lots of newbies like yourself is getting confused.

so u mean the speed on the router 1st page only mean for wifi speed?
if i pick the one on 1st page saying 100mbps but if i use it via lan cable ill still get my full 300/500/800 or which ever package im on?
so lan cable does not matter even if i choose on the 100mbps but im using 800mbps?

so if i want higher wifi speed then choose accordingly to 1st pages?
