hmm.gif Never heard any beeps from either my modem or router.. Both are TM supplied equipment.. Not even aware if they are supposed/capable of making audible noises..
From this features comparison page, it seems like the Asus RT-AC86U is the better choice... It has faster speeds (theoretical) on the 5Ghz band & double the available flash and RAM memory than the RT-AC87U.

Purchase wherever you feel the most comfortable.. Best prices is to buy from overseas, but you lose out warranty wise.. Because, in most cases Asus Malaysian prices can be as much as double what we can get elsewhere... Up to you to decide if warranty and peace of mind is worth the added cost of purchasing local or not.. smile.gif

I believe my previous response stayed which is the better buy and why... More memory tends to equal a more stable performance. Anyway, since I don't have personal experience with either.. Here..reviews..
86U and 87U
Both are respected reviewers and so reviews can be trusted. Especially Blacktubi.. He's well known for networking equipment and tests for real world usage.. Not just theoretical speeds.

I’ am using AC58U now and working smoothly never lost connection. Like tp link previously have to reboot. If using upper version of this should be better. Fast 5g connection.

Additional memory for a router isn't just extraneous features.. It's extremely vital. If you'd read any of the reviews or did a light googling you'd see that both routers can support beyond 500Mbps. Additional features aren't important until you find out about them, use em and see how much improvement. Besides, high-end routers tend to have these additional features.. Most of which can be turned off and you don't have to use it. Ultimately, the decision lies with you. smile.gif

Same case like me. Was rm179 for 30mbps ( still on contract) offered rm10 for 50mbps + 600 min + jumbo pack ( ruby package maintain). Tried to call and ask for 100mbps since quite a few ppl here got the offer but was rejected many times. Those that manage to get the 100mbps was fr the thank you campaign.

Hi Guys,

Is there a lot of difference between ASUS 87U and ASUS 86U router. Experts please advice...

Where can I get a good deal for ASUS 86U please advice ...TQVM
*
AC86U currently has the fastest Asus router CPU and the newer Broadcom BCM4366E chip.

Always buy unopened factory sealed set as you may not wish to risk picking up an exchanged unit. No experience with overseas sets at half the price as you would not know for certain whether they are exchanged sets. Also note there are discussions on snbforums around the Broadcom driver used in the AC86U. Its pretty much the best router in terms of specs from Asus at the moment just some issues with the firmware which Asus will fix. None of the issues will afffect normal usage,

Currently monitoring, the IOS device on 5GHz from router wifi log showing connection over 120 hours. Be prepared though for minor issues though. Its stable if you tweak the settings although it was a painful experience at first.

Before ranting, check to see if this is genuine. If it is, I have nothing to say except express disgust and resentment.

ASUS has many high end routers which is the right router to go for ASUS68U [some claim is the most stable UNIFI router ever] ASUS 87U, ASUS86U,ASUS 88U [are designed for gamers ]. Basically router are designed to last longer..

Is always the best to go for the latest router etc ASUS 86U ....
