ASUS has many high end routers which is the right router to go for ASUS68U [some claim is the most stable UNIFI router ever] ASUS 87U, ASUS86U,ASUS 88U [are designed for gamers ]. Basically router are designed to last longer..

Is always the best to go for the latest router etc ASUS 86U ....

You are looking at either GT-AC5300 or RT-AC86U which has the Broadcom BCM4366E wireless NIC. AC5300 has tri bands versus AC86U which has dual bands. Otherwise it looks about the same specs wise.

If you want serious gaming stability and prepared to get a bit technical, Mikrotik/UBNT is cheaper on a similar setup. If you want a simplified setup and management then its any vendor gaming routers with faster CPU and gaming priority QOS.

Even 300Mbps wireless connection on 5GHz is more than enough for gaming and it does not drop on 5GHz since relatively no interference. Of course wired is the best for gaming always.

So now you already know which to buy between the two and is quite satisfactory.. Else, you can always spring for the beasty Asus ROG Rapture GT-AC5300.... Sure zero complaints then.. tongue.gif

Asus ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 is really good but I think is overkill for normal users its designed for gamers only AC86U should be ok.

Turning off Air Fairness is probably the main thing. Game priority QOS. WTFast turned off as gaming latency is better without it (unless for those days latency is off the charts WTFast will help). Most of the other settings keep defaults recommended by AiProtection scan. Do not run the new router and your old Asus in AiMesh mode, its unstable.

That should get you running fast. Other settings you can tweak once you get to understand the AC86U better.

Need to apply TM first.. Once approved and confirmed installation date and time with installer.. Then go terminate Maxis.

I will give you the advice for free, courtesy of bro patricktoh, from this thread:https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4452440/+20

And further discussions from this thread about the same topic: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4488408

It’s not the same, but something similar.

Received ZTE H267A today. What I did after the installer completed the installation.

At Internet > WAN > DSL tab > DSL Connection
1. Create new item (Internet bridge VLAN)
- Connection name: BR_VLAN_500
- DSL Transfer mode: PTM
- VLAN: On
- VLAN ID: 500
- Apply

2. PPPoE set to Off

3. Click VLAN Trunk tab
- LAN1 set to On
- Supported VLAN number: 1
- VLAN ID1: 500
- PVID: N/A
- Apply

4. Once done connect own router WAN port to ZTE LAN1. HyppTV connect to ZTE default LAN4

Optional>>
5. If you want to pass the HyppTV to own router then
- At DSL connection > BR_VLAN_600 set to On (default is On)

6. At VLAN Trunk
- LAN1 set to On
- Supported VLAN number: 2
- VLAN ID1: 500
- VLAN ID2: 600
- PVID: N/A
- Apply

2 minor observations. I will try to fix it when have time. smile.gif
1. ZTE system time not sync with time server. Suspect it can't pick-up internet traffic
2. Internet LED is off. Should be related to above

Wow nice bro, ill give it a try ya! many thanks.

trying to understand the above ( am no network guy tongue.gif ) will the netis be used still as a modem, or replaced fully with the new modem router? its a AC750 ADSL2+ by dlink.

Not mine bro, but bro patricktoh is the one that came up with this. I just pass along his knowledge to you, so all credit belongs to him.

Anyway bro, if you mean this model: http://www.dlink.com.my/product/dsl-2877al...s-modem-router/

Then you can disregard my earlier post as your modem router is capabke of handling VDSL without using the netis as a bridge, which is what the steps above are trying to do. It should be straightforward for your case.
