With e-invoice implemented in banking, it seems gov will have first hand info on our spendings in credit card which offer cash back.
*
Firstly, how do you understand that from what you posted? That is talking about e-invoice for the cashback (which is a transaction where the banks pay us).

Secondly, anything you transact using a credit card is already tracked by the bank, and they are NOT hiding that trail from the government. Don't want government to know, use cash.

Third, what exactly is your concern with 'gov having first hand info on our spendings'?

QUOTE(borgyang @ Oct 3 2023, 05:38 PM)
Hi all, I'm going to make a big purchase (RM20k to RM30k) on furniture (bed mattress, sofa, wardrobe, table, chair, etc.) and home appliances (air conditioner, ceiling fan, lighting, refrigerator, washing machine, smart tv, etc.) for my new house. I'm looking for a credit card that gives cashback for my spending on furniture and home appliances. Preferably no cashback cap, but I don't mind applying multiple credit cards to maximize the cashback. Thanks in advance!

u gotta plan when to buy these, how long to get new cards, etc

1) mostly from big chain shops like Harvey norman or senheng? or each item diff shop? online stores?

2) does the shop accept amex? can try MBB amex gold Cashback with no cap.

3) if majority shops cannot cover from cards, for me lah, I prefer do flexipay/balance transfer lumpsum.

sometimes for me, simplest approach is more practical and easier to manage later.

of course I try to maximize my current cards first, without applying new ones. remaining do lumpsum.

just my 2cents

For physical contactless big spending, is MBB amex gold unlimited 1% cashback still recommended in 2025?

Yes, it is e-invoice for cashback paid to cardholders and i had no issue with that. However, the statement "which includes the amount owing by cardholders as well as payment / credit to cardholders" stated more than that. If my understanding is not wrong, bank are require to include the outstanding balance cardholders owe to bank in the e-invoice as well, not only cashback.

Of course, all the transactions performed using credit card are traceable. But for me, most of my credit card transaction are to top up ewallet for the cashback or campaign cashback and with cards from multiple banks, my total "spendings" with credit card exceed my salary. With these records (total spending > salary), I can foresee every year will trigger audit from LHDN. Even though I can explain and show the records but who would like the hassle of having yearly audit with them.

And yes, I will start to reduce top up into ewallet. Credit card for actual spending only.

Not entirely sure what your concern is - none of these amounts are opaque to government or LHDN even before this. It is cash spending which generally triggers LHDN, precisely because of non traceability. I would say there are plenty of spend>salary people in these forums, and there's no indication this is a reason for LHDN audit.

Of course, since less competition for CC campaign cashback means higher chance for the rest of us, please do feel free to reduce spend so that you can sleep well at night (this is more important than a few more ringgit cashback).

On the subject of eInvoicing, member - do you have in depth knowledge of how eInvoicing works as you raise this subject here in this forum ? (e.g Detailed eInvoice, consolidated eInvoicing, etc) FI regular reporting system to BNM, etc.

Clarity and accuracy of the information shared is crucial least raising unnecessary panic and anxiety among members. And there's nothing to hide if everything is in order with LHDN.

Hi everyone, I accidentally booked a hotel room on Agoda using my credit card, but I chose the wrong date. The booking is marked as non-refundable. Is it possible to ask my bank to cancel or reverse the transaction, or is that not allowed in this case? Has anyone had experience with this?

Thanks in advance!

What kind of details required? Just contact Agoda CS or hotel directly. If the new date is not peak period and still have room, Agoda will help u to liaise with the hotel or u think u have more negotiation power, then u liaise direct with hotel.. depend how u talk nicely to the hotel..
