Hi guys question about limit, whats the requirement to have an islamic credit card with more than 50k credit?
Can apply online or need to go to branch?
Must it be a premium card?

no, not specific to card type/premium-ness

you dont get to dictate how much credit limit you want from the bank. only bank decide how much they willing to give you (i.e risk exposure).

the only way you can get your desired credit limit is through FD pledging/collateral.

do ask the banks around and see what they have, and apply accordingly lo

target those banks which focuses on islamic products like cimb or bsn, bank rakyat, bank islam, affin, etc

i am a Singaporean. i have rental income and dividend income in Malaysia. but i do not have salary in Malaysia.

is it possible for me a apply for a credit card in Malaysia?

i frequently go Malaysia so the purpose is to earn rebates using the credit card

i check from Chat GPT and it say i can apply for a credit card by placing a 10k FD to get a unsecured credit card. some bank like standard chart, Maybank may offer this option. is this true?

if yes, which malaysia bank give good rebates (cash rebates) without much criteria

Thanks

May i ask why you indicated Islamic Card?

Credit limit does depend on a plethora of criteria. A very high steady income from a credible source is a good start. Banks Will give as much as they think you can pay.

RM50k is a minimum if You have the Right credentials. But its an unassailable mountain if you dont.

A lot of premium cards starts from 20-30k.

Also wasn't really sure if conventional vs islamic banking have different way of giving limit for credit cards that they are offering. hmm.gif

most banks accept non-MY salary for cc application. but CL will be 1:1 ratio.

your other income may be supplemented together with your SG salary slip during card application.

as for rebates, what kind of rebates? post in this topic https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4161836 using template from post #2.

possible to support rental income with form B/BE
previous post suggested that some banks are willing to accept SG salary but you have to find out yourself
FD pledging is possible but by definition that would be credit card secured by FD
cash rebate depends on your spending category and amount

Ok Bro. The major differences on an Islamic compliance card is that one can’t use it in several MCC establishments. Those dealing with gambling, liquor and various others.
As long as you meet the criteria, the ease of getting either is the same. At they end of the day, it comes down to
Your own financial credentials. I have both conventional and Islamic from Ambank and CIMB.

Imho to qualify for a RM50k limit, annual income of 150k to 250k would greatly increase your chances. This is with the proviso that all other aspects is normal.
Debt service ratio (DSR) less than 20% from your revolving credit limit is advantages. Some banks are more risk takers on certain people than others. There is really no one formula that fits all. Only thing is to try.

Which bank do you think would have more leeway requirement in giving such high credit limit?
Tbh, the reason I'm asking because apparently you can buy big bikes with EPP.
So wouldn't be it a good deal to pay with 0% installment laugh.gif

If for buying big bikes, don't think you need to restrict yourself only to islamic credit cards. More options for you is better.

In my experience higher credit limit given by banks like UOB. More stingy is banks like Maybank/Public Bank. In general the local banks more stingy than the foreign banks.

local bank i think Affin appears to be granting more limit that Public; Maybank would probably grant the lowest
UOB granted about 6x of my salary about 6 years ago, unfortunately, they do not issue islamic cc here
for EPP, u might need to check the banking partner as some may offer up to 36 months interest-free
