Not necessary you must get a Credit Card.
You can have Mastercard / Visa debit card instead.
Credit card and Debit card are equally accepted.

Seem all here are high income resident to get those premium card such as visa infinite. May i know most of the banks judge a customer by looking at their ctos & ccris or based on their annual income document when giving out those premium cards?
I consider new to my credit record, own credit history about 1yr+ not more than 2yr.
I have made my payment on time ( second day of every statement released )
I dont have any property and car loan. Only credit card.
I check my ctos score monthly but it seem wont be increasing. I wonder why!?
I have few hundred k of fd in my main bank. But they still very strict on my credit application.

I have alliance priviledge debit card, hlb priority banking debit card. But for credit card just at platinum level. ( upgrade from gold to platinum after 1 yr usage of gold ) now only 5 months for platinum with CL not more than 20k.

I see people who doesnt have savings/fd like me still very easily get offer by bank for premium cards and easily approving. Sometime feel frustated and not puas hati. Really confuse how they judge? Hope someone giving advice here.

Credit card is always an unsecured loan. Credit card issuers prefer you not to pay in time and in full so they can make money! It is likely you will not accept their cross-selling items including personal loan, easy payment scheme, property loan, hire purchase or other credit facilities. You are not attractive as you are "cash rich"!
For CTOS score, don't hope for perfect score, it is a bit misleading. If you do not have term loan AND hire purchase, you will never get full mark (I am in this dilemma as well)! At green zone is already good for loan application.
To get a premium credit card, the most basic requirement is your annual income. Make sure your Form BE/B 2017 (to be filed by April/June) showing your annual income >RM80k (Signature) or >RM120k (Infinite). This is the most powerful documents for you to get the premium credit cards.
For Maybank, apply at the card centre (1U or The Gardens), don't use online application.
For Public Bank, apply at the branch, the officer and manager will be helpful as they have monthly target to meet.

Thank you for ur reply, its very informative. I have mbb credit card, its just a gold card. I don have any casa with them. Main bank i using is alliance bank for my business, casa and fd. So i hope they issue me at least visa infinite card with higher CL for my emergency use, at least at a sufficient level but not only 5k/10k. This kind of CL is insufficient for enter a private hospital(touch wood). 50k is a minimum limit for a 7yrs priviledge customer like me. (The limit i wish they give me)

They issue me a gold card with 6k CL at first time. What i was think in my mind is what the heck, what can i do with 6k limit? My fd is 100x more than the limit they grant me.
After a yr of usage i reapply for addtional card and complain about the limit. I would move my fund to another bank if they don appreciate their customer. Then only they slightly increase my limit. I will request to increase limit again with my latest BE form few months later.

There are 2 ways to get premium credit cards.
[1] By Application: Show our income and wait for approval, most of the people here are doing this to get the credit card, eg Maybank Visa Infinite, CIMB Visa Infinite, RHB Visa Infinite (minimum credit limit RM50k).
[2] By Invitation: Be a Premier/Private banking customer and you accept/reject the card, Eg Maybank Diamanté Visa Infinite, CIMB Preferred Visa Infinite, RHB Premier Visa Infinite.

You should qualify to be a Premium/Private banking customer.

In CIMBClicks, I can search for Lazada Credit Card if put income less than 1k, but it will not be able to click into to apply.
Is this normal? Cannot apply it online for Lazada CC?
*
CiMB Lazada Mastercard is not a credit card. It is a prepaid card. Income is not a requirement.
You go to CIMBclicks to register for another ID+Password, then you "apply" for a Lazada Mastercard and you will get the new card number+expiry+CVV instantly.

Hi guys!

New credit card user here. Started using credit card since last month (Feb).

So, I received my first credit card statement last month (Feb) totaling around RM300. I've paid the amount in full on early March. Today, I received March credit card statement and there is still the RM300 listed in the previous statement balance. Shouldn't it be 0 if I already paid it in full?

Going through the March statement transactions, I noticed there is RM300 credited in the card around early March. So, probably I've paid the RM300 to the card instead? How should I go and correct this? A bit confused here. rclxub.gif

Thanks.

Your Feb statement balance (RM300) is always there, then followed by a credit of RM300.
So your new outstanding balance is RM0, not RM300, assume no debit transactions after Feb statement was issued.
There is no way can can amend the Feb statement balance.

Anyone have any ideas why banks reject my applications?

1st - CIMB, rejected when my income was 24k p.a (2 years ago).
2nd - Applied for PB Quantum, rejected when my current income is 40k p.a

I did missed a few payment on PTPTN loan. But I've already cleared all PTPTN loan more than a year ago. I'm debt free, no car loan, still CC-virgin.

What should I do? I'm totally lost.

Spend RM26.50 to get a CTOS credit report (incl. your CCRIS etc) and tips how to improve the CTOS score.
If your score is good, you will be offered to apply for a credit facility from Alliance Bank.

Is the free CCRIS report from BNM not enough?
*
CCRIS only shows your debts and your payment behaviours in the past 12 months only.

CTOS report can tell if you have court cases (litigation/bankruptcy etc), directorship, and credit rating (CTOS score), all your correspondence addresses from various sources. If your CTOS score is green, you are financially healthy, but subject to your income. Free CTOS report & CCRIS records will not have this information.

So it is up to you if you want to spend RM26.50 for the financial check-up.

how does bank count the credit limit or qualify criteria ?

example lets say pbb visa signature requirements =70k

lets say salary is basic 5000 allowance 500 = 5500*12 = 66000
property rental income = 1500*12 = 18000

Total up is 84000
which mean i qualify for it ?
but i still got car loan , house loan , ptptn etc but all pay on time

or there is other calculation around behind ?

currently is on visa gold from pbb thinking for an upgrade or cancel go for hsbc visa signature
*
Please make sure you report your net rental income in your Form BE 2017.
Rental income cannot help much if the housing loan amount is still high.
Even you qualify, it does not mean the bank shall give you the card. It is their rights.
Also, a good paymaster is not good for a credit card company, the credit card company will prefer you can afford to pay the minimum only so they can charge you interest!

PB VS you cannot spend too much (max RM634 on online, dining, groceries)

*
PBB VS: 12 swipes to waive AF. 6% rebate on Online, Dining & Groceries. Max Rebate RM38.
PBB QV: No AF. 5% on Departmental & Entertainment. Max Rebate RM30.
PBB QM: No AF. 5% on Online & Dining. Max Rebate RM30.

You can have 3 cards at the same time and they share the credit limit granted to you.
If you want Petrol rebate, then ask for Petron card as well.

I heard if applying at the Maybank Card Centre in 1U for example, it's easier to get approval for other ccards, if already have a ccard from Maybank.
I just found out there are these Regional Merchant Centres listed in Maybank's website for Borneo branches too.
Are these the same as the one's in 1U/Gardens?

Merchant Centre, not card centre! Go to your local branch and apply -lah.

hopefully the RM50 stuff won't come back anymore as this is implemented by our greedy PM najib on Budget 2010 to get more money through 1MDB and money laundering activities
*
Najib reinstated (not really introduced) the Govt service tax on credit cards in 2010.
The RM50 tax on a credit card (including supplementary RM50) already existed till 2000.
As the borrower shall pay 0.5% stamp duty on approved credit facilities as per Stamp Duty Act 1949, but it didn't work on the banks issuing credit cards, 0.5% stamp duty on approved credit limit. So the Govt charged a flat rate.

oh is it? i can't google any information about government charging RM50 on credit card before 2000...
any link for that fact?
*
I got my first CC in 1999. I paid RM50 Govt tax on each CC (incl supplementary) in 1999-2000.

Till 2000: Principal RM50, Supplementary RM50.
2010-3/2015: Principal RM50, Supplementary RM25.

after this may have to consider to cancel few cards which are less used or with less benefits.

anyway, Rm25 is lesser than the previous RM50 tax

And

hope bank will help us, by crediting RM25 into our card smile.gif
AFAIK, M2Cards is considered as one card (subject to only one service tax) when it comes to government service tax for credit cards
*
Pre-GST, both M2 Visa/MC and Amex were charged RM50 each, but a credit of RM50 will be given to the Amex account.
