FSM Fund Choice: KAF Tactical Fund [June 2017]

As Malaysian economy continues to show sign of improvements, we continue to see the potential of small cap equity and we would like to highlight one potential local fund that is skewed towards toward Malaysia small cap segment – KAF Tactical Fund.

Key Takeaway
With the strong rebound in the local economic condition supported by the bundle of decent macroeconomic data,
Malaysia’s equity market is likely to continue its uptrend in the following quarters of the year.
Hence, for investors with greater risk appetite, they can consider investing into KAF Tactical Fund as supplementary part of their portfolios,
with not more than 10% allocation of their overall portfolios.

Hi All,

I have been holding AmDynamic Bond for the past 7 years. Is it still worth holding or better to switch to other bond funds that can perform better? Looking at mid to long term.

Thanks in advance.

What did u buy exactly? If you read what the fund managers write recently, most of them would conclude Q1 was really good and they don't expect the rest of the year would deliver anything close to that

You need to consider if your fund choices and allocation matches your risk appetite. It sounded to me that you have rather unrealistic expectations. UT is not ponzi scheme, it would not deliver consistent superior returns; it's designed to deliver reasonable returns over mid-long term with minimal effort required from the investor
I think that iportfolio site died....
Use FSM's portfolio simulation function lor; but xuzen already indicated past returns and weighted volatility

Just wasn't happy with my portfolio earlier because i didn't have the capital to get into more funds. Now that i have some spare cash, i could play around with my portfolio and diversity more.

U on cari forum?
Actually the only reason why the fund is doing well is because it's a equity exposed bond fund; they have about 20% equity holdings. And we all know MY equity did well beginning of the year. Their FI holdings is quite consistent with the other local bond funds

Btw, my managed portfolio fund holdings are updated.... less than FSM SG MAPS, but so many funds that I don't particularly fancy. We see how it goes

p/s: Not going to post the funds and allocation %; it is afterall FSM MY's proprietary rights

Also take note that he does not have transaction fees so he changes the components of the port a lot. If you don't have a wrap account it might not be feasible to follow him, the commission would just be too much of a drag.

Just updating my port for some shiok sendiriness.

I have been tracking my port for the past 11 months.

In this eleven months, 3 months gave negative return whereas 8 months gave positive return.

Average return is MYR 2,XXX per month.

Hi,

Any other suggestions? Should I put into Esther (seems to be a popular choice) instead? Looking at better performance with mid to long term view.

Thanks in advance.

Balanced suggest 50 EQ: 50 FI or so

The fund mandate for AmConservative is maximum 30% EQ but up to 100% FI; that's why they call it equity exposed bond fund. Cannot compare with 100% bond fund lor

Most important part, you must be comfortable with it, otherwise you will be tempted to sell everything first sign of trouble.

It is comparable to a typical balanced fund performance.... this is where my risk appetite is. I am most comfortable around this range of risk.

Dear Xuzen sifu.

Congratulation, btw can I ask are you a medium risk investor or a high risk investor?

Planning on venture into risk 8-9 level fund (using my spare money) but have not studied about any fund, any recommendation?

or maybe if u are comfortable can you share how you pick fund? or maybe share your current portfolio?

When to sell ? (making losses but how do you know it will bounce back, some would have sold when they start making losses)

Sorry for the long question.
