I mentioned this issue before.
Strange that Zen 2 3950X idle power consumption (including SOC and CPU, see below) is way better than Zen 3 5950X (Same as your results of 25 - 30 watts) sad.gif

edit:
You can compare my HWINFO screenshot here https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...ost&p=100111954
*
It's better silicon for 3950x . and has better idle wattage than 5950x.
what's more it's more stable than 5950x
remember that 3950x was released months later allowing for better binning
i had one earlier bought just after it was released.
My experience with 5950x was a disaster. Poor binning chip that Bsod at bios default settings.

Hi, kindly ask anyone running Windows 11 Latest Dev Preview and fail to update the Gigabyte Motherboard Bios using @Bios apps?

I getting Update Bios Failed using any Bios Firmware directly from Server or manually download.

Edit: send feedback to Gigabyte CS and reply they not going to support Windows 11 until it is final release. The only way is using Q-Flash.
Done flash to F35 using Q-Flash instead.

how do you guys pin point WHEA Uncorrectable Error?

i limited my PBO max temp to 75C purposely and it BSOD and restart to bios with CPU OVER TEMPERATURE ERROR.

it stays at constant 77C while trying RDR 2. doh.gif

Oh....this? It is your 75'C fault.

First, the boost algorithm is too agressive.
Second, when the CPU tries to boost to high clock, let say 4.8Ghz, but your temp limit is set too "low". The cpu is supposed to throttle the clock first before the the voltage. I discovered via HWINFO logging that the CPU actually throttles the voltage first instead of clock rate after temp limit is breached.
When the CPU is getting insufficient voltage at 4.8Ghz, ta daa, WHEA Uncorrectable Error.

Don't believe me?
Set the temp limit back to default 90'C and ensure your cooler can handle it, then set the PBO to reasonable level like 500 PPT, 200 TDC and 215 EDC. You will never encounter that WHEA Uncorrectable Error while playing RDR2.

I also recommend you to update the bios with AGESA 1.2.0.3.B if you haven't.
AGESA 1.2.0.1 made some changes to the throttling algorithm.

It is unnecessary to set the temp limit as low as 75'C when the default limit is at 90'C. Normally i will disable it if i really OC.

drop the power limit PPT instead of the target temp if you want to cap the temps.... but of course that will simply make your AMD much slower than intels of the same range because ryzens need all the boost to get up to speed. laugh.gif

Ryzen are design to boost high and aggressively, gets very unstable whenever you try to tame the boosting behaviors. So better to just upgrade to a better cooler. Go custom WC.

Out of curiosity, do you guys recommend a 5900X on a B550 Mobo? Itching to get one but dont plan to change mobo.

some say, with correct VRM, B550 is better than X570 motherboard
I am running a 5800X on a MSI B550 Gaming Plus

oh smack. i follow a youtube guide thinking it will throttle the CPU when the temp reach 75C instead of limiting max temp at 75C doh.gif as the max temp is set under PBO settings page.

How high was that? I switched from i9-9900KS with the core temp reach as high as 98'C during all core 5GHz boost, so this Ryzen to me is alot.colder and i don't worry at all.

88'C? What thermal paste u use?
FYI, my 1st thermal paste application 2 weeks ago using pea method on the center is 4'c hotter than 2nd application few days ago using spread method. Also i tighten my water block all the way down.

Did u try undervolt using curve optimizer?
I set -30 all core in CO, PBO +200Mhz, and manually offset Vcore by -0.1V, so far stable and no WHEA. I think default Vcore is very high @ >1.4V during full load

thats the thing, i'll need to reset the CPU cooler mounting i guess. last time checked is PPT very high but not its almost the same as with you guys sharing here.

i'll just reset the CPU mounting once the front panel arrive for the OD-11XL.

My G.Skill Trident Z NEO Series 64GB (2 x 32GB) DDR4-3600 ordered from Amazon arrived today, it resolved the cold boot issue when DCOP enabled in my Asus B550 board.
