AMD Ryzen Hype / promotional/ marketing aside.
Issues still plague AMD with these new cpus.
So, they are targeting the Enthusiast / high-end segment/market with Ryzen 7. But there's no REAL high-end / cool motherboards to match with these new "high-end cpus" unlike intel e.g Asus Rampage V edition 10 / Maximus 9 Formula / Aorus Gaming 9.
if i am the "Enthusiast", i will think twice on the 1800x/1700x as the mobo is also part of the package/decision. "Flagship" Asus board : Crosshair VI Hero. (that's only a mid- range mobo)

Just assembled my new Ryzen setup 3 weeks ago. haven't fully test it out yet. yep, waiting for new bios and chipset driver releases to fix those bugs. now to flash to latest bios.
Coming from using Intel CPU's , this Ryzen CPU temperatures "see-saw" behavioural effects something hard to get used to. 38-40 at idle, then shoot up to 50-60, next nearing 70 or 70+ and back to 40 when idle.. and that's using AIO cooler.
Maybe Ryzen CPU's temp readings are different from Intels?

After trying out Zen 2 + X570, I must say it's a much more robust platform than it's immediate competitor. Never regretted in buying it. I m impressed with AMD. Let's hope upcoming bios n chipset updates will squeeze out every potential of the platform
As it always applies: you gotta try it to experience it fully

QUOTE(edmund_yung @ Nov 1 2019, 03:57 PM) I think the only reason someone wanted to get X570 today is for the faster NVME drives, which is pointless for gamers. Like you said, that money is better spent on other components if there is limited budget. If there's no limit, heck, why not just go for the latest~ It's not really that "expensive" . What makes the local component prices we are seeing today is the sickening exchange rates. It totally erodes the purchasing power of the RM. Bottom line is we have to pay more for hardware now . That's the reality of life here, whether you like it or not.

Just want to share with you all fellas, if your system ever encountered Bios Post code 90 and won't boot beyond that, that means high likelihood the CPU is dead. Not even clear CMOS will help. That's what happened to my 3900X. Luckily I have a spare CPU , a 3700X to try it on. Boot back to normal and system working like a charm on the 3700X. 3900X off to RMA.

Speaking of RAM, I have this 3950X match with Aorus Xtreme and paired with Gskiill Trident Z 3200 (Hynix chip), older version. The darn thing wouldn't pass Bios boot-up (Ram OC failed). Setting it down to 3000 , Win 10 with random BSOD.
Just went to the shop and bought a new Trident NEO 3200 (Hynix chip also). Pop it in and it works fine now at 3200.
saw the 3600 version, not worth buying with such lousy timings. 18-22-22-42
BUT the older Trident Z works well under MSI Godlike
Just that Gigabyte boards are more choosy/picky on the RAM

RYZEN owners , REJOICE !
Look at comet-lake just released. Still stuck at an old architecture (5 years and counting). And look at the actual street price; Platform cost , that is CPU + MOBO, U re better off with Ryzen for the time being and on the long haul.
(if u think X570 is expensive, take a glance at Z490)

QUOTE(Cold|Drawn @ Oct 9 2020, 12:59 AM) ah, okay. I was converting the 5900's price @ USD549 to MYR and comparing it to current selling price of 3900XT. It's about the same compared to 3900XT & Intel's 10900K I believe most users would not mind paying for what AMD is charging for its new cpus Much more modern cpu design and platform support than intel can provide.

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Oct 9 2020, 01:06 AM) That 5600X pricing though The 5950X looks interesting considering the fact that the 3950X already obliterated a 10980XE in most tasks, except gaming. The lower TDP mean it should work reasonably well on a midrange B550 board Yup, Zen 3 pretty much destroyed Intel's last bastion - gaming supremacy If Zen 3 is that powerful on a mainstream platform, I can't really imagine how a Zen 3 powered Threadripper perform Yeah, the 3950X is already a very competitive cpu. can't imagine what the 5950X will do. Plus they don't really suck more power than intel cpus

QUOTE(sai86 @ Oct 25 2020, 09:06 PM) True as well. Just gonna wait for the retail pricing to be release here in SG for the 5900X and 6000 series. only realize Hero in SG cost $693.00 for mobo alone QUOTE(llk @ Oct 25 2020, 09:21 PM) Wow more expensive than Msia, then maybe u buy here better. So far this is the only x570 refresh mobo. Haven't seen any other new mobo announced for 5xxx launch since. Not bad since it ditch the pch fan and comes with WiFi as default.

QUOTE(latios507 @ Oct 27 2020, 06:54 PM) I did I ask him but he only said "will update you again later boss" I guess for now, I'll just give Idealtech a benefit of doubt and assume the pricing would be as per what is stated on their website as a benchmark for other shops, with a plus/minus RM100 difference. I was under the same impression as you are, but prices would still differ region to region. I tried looking up for Australian Dollar pricing and boi, the markup is even crazier (RM2.6k+ for 5900x). Poor Aussies Poor Aussies ? They earn in AUD and pay in AUD. It's not much considering wage level there. M'sian earn in RM and pay in RM. That hurts.

Wait until the official prices, then we might comment further. No point in paying excessive mark- up by re- sellers.

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Nov 5 2020, 11:11 PM) Only if you compare the 5800x with its other 5000 series brothers, then it looks a little stupid value wise. But against Intel? 5800x is good value as it outperforms even the 5900x in low thread workloads. Cos it has only 1 CCD with all the 8 cores in it.
