i think we should let the manipal thread die, so i am transferring this info on the best practice principles for medical school student selection here.....

===============

1. Selection of medical students should firstly be based on academic merit. There are more than adequate number of potential candidates with interest and passion in the profession from a group of top 5% students in any cohort. (in msia, that is 10,000+ students)

2. From this group, final selection should be done based on applitude, attitude, interest, compassion and other attributes.

3. money should NOT be a factor in the selection process. The practice of buying places is bad.

4. developed countries are consistent in their selection and training process, based on 1, 2 and 3. and thus has the best record of consistent, quality med education....

5. ipta/ipts and many (not all) 3rd world schools suffer from selection and training (mostly assessment) issues, resulting in inconsistent quality of students and graduates.

6. Exceptions occur, but cannot be used as justification for allowing poorly qualified students to 'try' medical education.

Hence forth, we should call it the rukun limeuu.

It's fine to post your opinions, but posting the same thing over and over again? Dude, don't you get sick of it?

I am not sure what are you trying to achieve. It's like a propaganda to me.

Hmmm, i agree with all the points. However, many students whom qualified for medical studies are not being offered a place. Therefore, they can only resort to IPTS or 3rd world schools if they cannot afford 1st world.
Hence, my point is, dun assume students from IPTS are bad. Judge a person for what he is, not where he comes from.

Btw, i think someone from the 1st world school was more emo than me. brows.gif

if you are someone who got ter 85 and your rich parents bought a place for you in an ipts or russia, or whatever.......i will tell you bluntly, you should NOT have been allowed to........the worst i have seen personally was someone with 3,6,7 in spm sciences who went to india.......i kid you not.....but i am told it gets worse in russia.....

please respect people's privacy.......
