I just noticed my Journey card was charged with SST on Monday and I swiped my card yesterday as I forgot to bring credit cards with me and I used Apple Pay. Chatted with their CS and as expected I won’t get any rebate this year. They wanted me to get a 4.99% BT to get the SST rebate so I rejected the offer. I will cancel the card then. Lucky for me is that they allow me to pay off my charges yesterday and excluding the SST before I cancel the card. Once I redeem my miles and my yesterday’s transactions are posted and paid off then I will contact them again to cancel. I gotta do it before my AF being charged next month. Adios SCB, it has been a wonderful ride of 12 years. willaw and wongmunkeong liked this post

My best memories of SCB is when they give RM300 sign up offer for each of their cards more than 10 years ago. I remember signing up multiple cards and get nearly RM2k free money.
From one of the best card to one of the shittiest service within a decade. Should just exit consumer banking for good like CITI. You won't be missed. |

Requested to cancel my Smart Card via the app. Also redeemed the miles in the Journey card, waiting for it to be reflected in my KF account then I will contact CS to cancel that card.
Hopefully it won't take too long to redeem miles, first time using SCB to redeem miles. |

I cannot cancel this Journey card via the normal channel as they need to write off the RM 25 first. I had a screenshot in case another CS told me it is not possible. My AF will be charged next month and I know I won't get the waiver anymore after failed to get SST rebate which I have been getting every year in the past. I guess, that's the end. Smart Card is now cancelled and removed from my view. Yesterday's miles redemption is also reflected in my KF account, I paid off the outstanding this morning but not yet been posted, so the CS not able to proceed with the cancellation for my Journey card. I can only do it once my payment is reflected. Last step for my Journey card before it is cancelled, feeling pretty sad but nothing can be done. Gonna move on from SCB and focus on other banks.Hopefully it won't take too long to redeem miles, first time using SCB to redeem miles. |

Has anyone tried their "Cash on call" program where can get cash and convert to loan 1 to 5 years ?
Call center person said no hidden charges and if u pay off earlier, they will calculate back all the interest saved and offset that from when we close it out Anyone who has used this maybe can share if any issues ? Thanks |

Basically, what u paid in first 1 year is mostly interest. It's called rule of 78. Can Google it. Don't have to know the maths but basically the interest is not prorated based on the time but you pay a bigger portion of it in the earlier years. And yes it is a lousy method I agree. |

QUOTE(adele123 @ Jul 20 2025, 09:52 PM) It's called rule of 78. ya so u paid early u actually paid maybe 20-30% of the interest. But yeah u pay ur principal earlier than u don need pay leftover interest. But then u oledi paid up so many interest lol. They say 5% pa but is calculated the whole duration already. Effective interest is the one u looking at if u pay early. But rule 78 if u wan pay early, the so called breakeven is like half of the duration. Can Google it. Don't have to know the maths but basically the interest is not prorated based on the time but you pay a bigger portion of it in the earlier years. And yes it is a lousy method I agree. |
