why dont you take a step back and think about what you need/want. Do you want a small car to make parking easy or do you need a large car to drive ur family/parents around?? Do you drive long distance often?, Does the car need to be new? (used cars = maintanance will be higher but, one; you dont really suffer as much in terms of depreciation if you intend to change to another car in the near future. and two; it widens your potions), what kind car do you like? many things to think about...

Prefer small car coz I hv been driving sedan all this while so wan to try smtg new but sedan also no problem. I dun drive long distance often, only around kl and weekdays only go work from Mt Kiara to midvalley. Nop doesn't need to be new but if used car prefer low maintenance car d, else later lik my current Volvo one time masuk workshop min 1k. For wat kind of car I lik I dun really hv any preference as long as it's safe and maintenance not high.

edit: so i think i will go for persona, is the premium spec worth it? or is exec spec enough already?

normal price, i think you should negotiate alittle if you want it. (a dealership would pay your friend close to 40k or less for that car)

frankly speaking, am not a big fan of the almera..... would rather get something else e.g. forte, elantra, inspira, suprima with that kind of budget (though ofc, running costs would be higher)

That's a cosmetic issue only  laugh.gif
Camry also tongek nobody bat an eye  rolleyes.gif
I'm not going to talk much about the Preve because I'm not familiar with the upkeep for his car, however I do know among the two variants available the non-turbo doesn't really cut it due to poor fuel consumption and performance, while the turbo does have "some" performance but fuel consumption isn't any better which is kind of strange since it is not a performance orientated turbo it should give better fuel consumption.

Mazda 3 would actually be the most expensive to maintain among the group as most of their parts prices are locked by the sole distributor especially big ticket items like aircon compressor, gearbox and anything from the engine. This is an economics of scale issue because for parallel importers to bring in compatible or cheaper originals from other countries to sell cheaper locally they need some sort of volume or else it doesn't make sense, which is why smaller items and compatible items like fuel filters, absorbers, etc. can be found because higher chance for people to buy it but bigger ones can't because it doesn't make sense for them to bring it in and sell cheaper because customer base small and warehousing cost isn't cheap to wait until someone breaks a cylinder head to seek a replacement. That is why they usually refer you back to 3S or authorised dealer.

Inspira/Lancer would be similar situation as Mazda3 except because both of these cars create enough volume I have seen importers bring more than just the usual minor service items for these cars.

2010 Toyota Camry 2.0 - looking at your budget have you ever thought about something like a Camry? Upkeep wise it would be around or slightly more expensive than the Inspira or Mazda3. Of course being a D-segment the comfort is better.
Well, even Myvi doesn't have the updated safety features of the top spec Bezza.
Infact at around this price point the only other product which has is the Persona and Saga.
However, personally I feel Perodua has better customer service and maintenance for the Bezza in the long run would be cheaper.
2009 Swift Sports 1.6 - if you're into cars that are nimble and fun you should consider a car like this. A very nice sorted chassis. Powerful engine but not too powerful until driving it is difficult. Near perfect gear ratio's. A driver's car for sure, you can bring it to the track or Genting Sempah for some fun although there are more powerful cars but if based on engine capacity probably only Proton Satria GTI or Proton Satria Neo R3 might give you a run for your money else you'd be cutting corners overtaking most other 1600cc cars unless heavily modified. Always remember an original SSS only comes with a 1600cc engine and manual gearbox, everything else is just bodykit version of the standard model.

2008 VW Polo GTI 1.8 - however if you want something more powerful but not a big brute like Evo's and WRX's then maybe you can consider the Polo GTI. It uses the more stable 1800cc turbo which was in Audi A4/A6, VW Golf GTI, Skoda Octavia 1.8T, etc. It is stable hardware plus connected to a manual it is pretty much bulletproof.
2000kms per month on average.
It is on the higher side.
When looking at such mileage on used car lots you can probably think it is true as sometimes they cheat by putting a lower mileage.
But for a private sale it is on the higher side.
The price range is around 37k for the manual and 39k for the cheapest auto.
If you like it then squeeze him for more discounts since if he sell to used car dealer he won't get 43k anyway.

Wanna ask small question. Is it true getting attention-grabbing colors will reduce car thief chances? Like Myvi 1.5 Electric Blue, or Orange. Logically a car thief would target common cars as it can be drove easier.

Provided of course la the owner also need to be smart and install some safety feature like Brake lock, park in more visible area instead of alley. I'm talking about local cars especially.

i duno if theres been research done on this... but i think the more 'common' colors get stolen more often. My reason would be, its easier to get away in a common colored car than one that stands out.
Now if you are talking about those that load their cars with the attention grabbing goodies (meters, displays, branded addons, whatnot).... those probably have an increased chance of getting robbed.

Hey All,

I have a budget of about RM80,000- 90,000 an really am looking into the Mazda 3 2015.

I don't mind getting a second hand card in the C segment, but what would you guys recommend?

For day to day city driving and some outstation rides. I understand the Mazda 3 is a great drive. Do we think it is feasible to get it at my budget - Lets say i wait till 2017 to buy a 2015 model?

Thoughts?

Brand : Any
2. Budget : 80- 90k
3. New/Used/Unreg : Doesn't matters.
4. Specs : Mid/Full
5. Transmission : Auto
7. Type : Sedan
8. Remarks : City driver

Add ons:

I've been quite tunneled vision into getting the standard affair Jap C segments. My budget is about 80-90k and a friend mention at that range i can very well get a 320d 2012.

Pros are that its good on fuel, powerful, a conti and has the tech.

I'd like to know your guys thoughts on the matter. Is maintenance really that expensive? what are the major milestone maintenance cost and what will they run on average?

Will it be less as to buying a 2nd hand Mazda 3 for example? I'd appreciate the help or if someone can pm me for a conversation

Wanna asks quick question. Yesterday my cousin got offer me Toyota Vios E 2012, they willing to let go at RM830/mth (They used 4 years, 5 years more to go), compared to a new Myvi 1.5 Adv (Which I can afford at RM590/mth) which should I choose? By logical, Vios E 2012, right? but I according to 20% of net salary, I can afford Myvi 1.5 nia. In what way shoud I evaluate my decision? Help pls notworthy.gif

why logically the vios??

i have strong opinions about the (older) vios-es.... theres nothing good about the car other than its reliable as hell... and imo, its one of those cars which isnt really worth it used cause its resale is so high. Compared to the myvi, its prettymuch something similar just bigger.... built quality is around the same level, nvh same thing, handling both crappier side..... basically the same brand too... (myvi is a diahatsu which is basically a toyota whistling.gif )

mazdas are not the cheaper jepunis cars to maintain but it is in no way going to be more expensive than a beemer unless you get an absolute lemon....

Thank you boss for your opinion notworthy.gif

My cousin advise me to get a loan (re-financing?) because it could be cheaper. If I pay RM830/mth for 5 years, it could end up RM49.8k, if I borrow from bank using loan and use the $$ to pay 1-lum-sum, I just pay RM40k (Interest should be higher, right? like 4.0 ~ 5.0).

Based on your word, everything is the same. Safety also same as Myvi 1.5 Adv Icon? no Vehicle Stability Control? Then in this case better opt to Myvi 1.5 Advance new car?

- parts xde issue getting.... its more about how much they cost, not crazy high, but slightly higher than jepunis cars of the same segment
2. Honda CRV-(Reliable, Honda, SUV)
- much older ? maintanance costs also higher, minyak minum also higher
3. Kia Forte-(Decent specs even 1.6, Safety, but what about spare parts cost and availability?)
- owners say its like a jepunis car  whistling.gif i think its about there +- here and there
4.New Perodua Bezza Advance (Brand new car)
- lari budget? anyway, decent car. frugal, clever only just very small and has no power to speak of
5.New Persona
- same as bezza, just larger, more planted, as horribly slow, more safety features (throughout the range)

Any advice?
*
since you have already narrowed it down... well cheapest and easiest to jaga will almost always be the new car... also applies in this case. The bezza and persona will certainly be easiest to jaga of the lot (spare parts will also be cheaper than the rest given that 1)its a smaller car and 2) they are designed to be budget local cars.

Sifu notworthy.gif notworthy.gif , now I can aim with another condition.

Brand : Toyota, Honda, Nissan (Prefer Nissan)
2. Budget : 70k~80k can afford up to RM800/mth loan
3. New/Used/Unreg : New
4. Specs : Mid/Full
5. Transmission : Auto
7. Type : Prefer Hatchback, but if Sedan provides more safety, I'll choose Sedan
8. Remarks : City driver mainly, but occasionally drive back KL->Perak//Kelantan/Penang to once every year

Cheap to maintain, low fc is a plus
