Seem like Samsung Android 6.0.1 encounter Exchange Server intermittent disconnected issue and require manual trigger the server connection for multiple times per day. My corporate IT already inform Samsung and they did acknowledged it but still unknown on the patch release date.

yeah, i noticed some samsung phones has them added automatically.

I've searched around, and they say i should change the language region to English (US) to make it put dashes and space automatically. But it doesn't work for me.

Could you help me check what language region do u have it on your note 4 ?

While waiting for my Ultimate Shield Protector to arrive. Gonna write my review about the phone case that I used yesterday.

1. Nillkin Nature Case

- A transparent case which is very slim. Like this case because it's transparent and can show off the phone colour. There are cover for the charging port and earphone to prevent the dust from going in. There is some protection at the camera.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

2. Replica Spigen

- A more protective phone case. Behind is rough and does not slip easily. Does not seem to be that bulky and the side metal and TPU makes the protection better, No cover for the charging port and earphone.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

3. Rock soft TPU case- RM25

- Also a transparent case and is a little slimmer than Nillkin nature case. There are cover for the charging port and earphone to prevent the dust from going in. There is some protection at the camera.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

4. Basues soft TPU case- RM25

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

5. Transparent TPU - RM10

- A typical soft transparent case. No protection for the camera.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

6. Transparent Case With Camera Protector (Version A)- RM15

- Transparent case with some protection at the camera.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

7. Transparent Case With Camera Protecto (Version B)- RM15

- Transparent case with full protection at the camera.

It seems that the plastic cover at flash module is easily scratch. Some hairline scratches are already visible under room lighting. Only wipe gently with wet microfibre cloth before. Need to be careful when put your phone without casing on any surface.

that is why the self-service form method instead of random posts 500 proud owners and yet 1st pages full of names, we need more proper info like which apps to install and some tips or tricks or warranty stuff. You do have a point but whether people wanted to participate in the form is another story.

Coincidentally, my phone also hang on Sunday. I reboot it myself and that fixed the problem. Yesterday, my brother's phone hang also, but rebooted itself.

When I say hang, I can't interact properly with the phone. But still managed to select restart.

Normally this is caused by rogue apps running in the background, slowing down your phones to a crawl. If you are very sure that it is not caused by rogue apps / updates, then it may be reason to worry.

So far no issues for me on my S7 Edge. Let's just hope it's just software bugs / running background apps and NOT hardware issues for those experiencing hanging issues. hmm.gif

I guess we should use the auto restart feature now? Could be useful in avoiding potential problems if the phone reboots automatically everyday.

I guess we should use the auto restart feature now? Could be useful in avoiding potential problems if the phone reboots automatically everyday.

Haha.. Waze always consume lot of battery, but I think this is depending on what app we using. The S7 Edge indeed has a good battery, my phone still have about 40% battery left at night before I sleep.

I've use the iPhone 6S Plus for a few months too. In that period, comparing the same usage patterns and my current S7 Edge, the S7 Edge is far better.

Of course, we have to factor in that the 6S Plus, there are two different processors for different production batches. If you are lucky enough to get the TSMC processor, your battery life should be good, perhaps nearly equal to the S7 Edge. But if you are unlucky and get the Samsung processor, your battery life will be much worse.

In the market, majority of 6S Plus use Samsung processor unfortunately, and 6S uses TSMC.

Came from iphone 6s plus, personally I think it is about the same.

iPhone 6s plus can stay at 100% for very long whereas s7 drop to 99% in just 5-10 minutes of usage. But total SOT imo is about the same.

But fast charging can compensate that - I don't have a S7 but having fast charging is very important. icon_idea.gif

Now I don't need to worry about forgetting to charge the phone overnight... Waking up and your phone battery is low? Just plug them in to fast charge for 20 minute = enough battery for a day icon_idea.gif

My Moto X Style can charge very quickly thanks to a 25W charger - very helpful when you need to juice up your phone urgently icon_idea.gif

Exactly. thumbsup.gif

The Doze feature in Marshmallow is still behind iPhone's superb standby low-battery drain. But when it comes to actual usage of the phone, both are quite similar. The IPS display on the iPhone also tends to save more battery life for web-surfing which is mostly on white backgrounds, as compared to the Super AMOLED display on the S7 edge.

Have you considered the Spigen Crystal Shell? Apparently the lips at each corner are more pronounced than Ultra Hybrid so it may provide even better protection against drops.

I'm considering to get this at the moment.

One more bad stuff about iPhone which made me left, which is it shut down the internet connection from the whatsapp when using web whatsapp while the phone is locked.

I think Marshmallow doze is following iphone suit because the last time I use android in 2015 doesn't have this problem whereas this s7 have slightly delay web whatsapp notification.

G935FXXU1APC8 ROM is out in Sam mobile.

I wonder how long do we need to wait for it to be out OTA in Msia.

Maybe a month LOL.

I honestly don't see a reason for them to call? Perhaps because many owners are constantly naggin them about it? laugh.gif

Samsung FB did mention in one of their comment replies that we should be getting the 2nd SMS for the extended 1 year warranty within 1 month after S7 edge Msia launch.

So just be patient guys. biggrin.gif

Came from iphone 6s plus, personally I think it is about the same.

iPhone 6s plus can stay at 100% for very long whereas s7 drop to 99% in just 5-10 minutes of usage. But total SOT imo is about the same.
*
The thing with iPhone battery life is the amazing standby time and consistency. Losing 2-5% per hour is usual on Android.

Not to mention that it can be really inconsistent. At least now Smart Manager will warn us about rogue apps draining the battery.

You need to blame some app developers for creating battery sucking apps - Facebook anyone? icon_idea.gif

The Facebook app is one of the worst apps when it comes to battery usage - the app is so badly coded that the whole app could suck up a significant portion of juice in no time. sweat.gif

Not to mention the Facebook app is hopelessly bloated too. sweat.gif

I got rid of the FB app and use Metal, and it's a much, much better experience. whistling.gif Too bad I have to keep Messenger otherwise I won't be able to reply FB messages... sweat.gif

I thought this is not bad? 161 mins for 35% of battery usage. Interpolate it to 100%, you get 460 mins = 7 hours 40 mins!

Ah...no wonder. I was wondering how did you get such SOT. I have not get past a full cycle but from what I gathered so far, it seems like it's hard to get past 5 hours of SOT.

Yes, Google Now does have a noticeable effect on battery drain. I normally turn it off for my Android phones cause of battery hit. But with S7 edge's superb battery performance, can consider to use it again. innocent.gif

I am not sure whether the settings are polished. As there are 2 app battery control settings. one is from the cleaner master called app power saving and the other is under the advanced tab of battery usage called optimize battery uasge.

I bought Rm100, but the adhesive on the tempered screen protector is not strong enough and it keeps popping out. Also the screen got rainbow effect, I contact the seller and he said he is willing to send me a new one. Now just wait for his new stock arrive.

Yes, Google Now does have a noticeable effect on battery drain. I normally turn it off for my Android phones cause of battery hit. But with S7 edge's superb battery performance, can consider to use it again.  innocent.gif

Clear coat screen protector works perfectly. Put the phone inside the spigen clear case hybrid also the SP won't lift up, stick to the screen tightly. And to be honest, I don't find the clear coat sticky.

I bought Rm100, but the adhesive on the tempered screen protector is not strong enough and it keeps popping out.  Also the screen got rainbow effect, I contact the seller and he said he is willing to send me a new one. Now just wait for his new stock arrive.

is temper glass type or PET type, i'm using the PET type, the soft rubber case make the screen protector pop up, if without case was ok.

Nah I just got the SMS today after buying the phone on Friday and Sunday respectively.

I guess the seller (Celcom and another Samsung store) helped me to register warranty and this is their courtesy SMS to inform me that it has already registered.

Not sure. I normally charge when the S7 edge is at about 30-40% battery level. I reckon perhaps it will take 3 hours to charge from zero to full with fast wireless charging enabled.

Not matte SP bro. This is Clear Coat (clear version). It's using some PET film thingy (IIANM) so it does give out a semi-matte look. Not as clear compared to tempered glass for sure. No colour degradation, though. biggrin.gif

And the back also using the same material.

RM 279 from Samsung outlets. But you can always find cheaper ones online (be careful of fakes though). thumbsup.gif

Actually if I compare my other phone with tempered glass and this Clear Coat, the reflections in the tempered glass are razor sharp but the Clear Coat's reflections have some jagged edges. But what I like is that it's very easy to wipe off dirt and grime from the Clear Coat surface. biggrin.gif

Only one official dealer in the whole of Malaysia at Pavilion KL. Haha. But some people may not like it as it doesn't feel nowhere as good as tempered glass.

Not sure. I normally charge when the S7 edge is at about 30-40% battery level. I reckon perhaps it will take 3 hours to charge from zero to full with fast wireless charging enabled.

Congrats! Read good reviews about Choetech. Supposed to charge even faster than the Samsung Wireless Fast Charger (Flat-type) which is rated 7W (IIANM).

But the latest stand-type wireless fast charger by Samsung is more than 10W I think.

customer service from 2 separate centre told me that the waterproofing warranty will be gone. Means they cannot guarantee that the phone is still IP68 complied. since the phone is disassembled. Learnt few things today

1. Hardware warranty all will still be carried on according to the warranty period
2. If the screen does happen to crack or shatter again, (warranty for everything will be voided)
3. After screen replacement, IF YOU wet your phone and water sips through. Samsung DOES NOT cover the warranty.

Sharing my DIY wireless charger stand. Not fast charge type, but come with motorised charging coil. It will search for the phone and initiate charging when the phone is parked. Been using it for Nexus 4, 5, Galaxy S6 and now S7 Edge.

May I know which SC you went?

My battery life was quite poor on this phone. I am planning to send it in for inspection.

My concern is the waterproofing since they may teardown the phone to inspect the battery. sad.gif

My battery also poor compare to my previous note 4 and note 5, full charge at 8am, until 6pm, left 35%, SOT less than 2 hours, probably 1 hr 40m, AOD disabled.

My note 5 easily last me till 11pm and left 35%.

However, my wife's S7E is much better than my earlier note 5.

I believe if the seals are replaced properly, waterproofing will be retained. It depends on the competency of the technician I guess. smile.gif

Luck? Or maybe Samsung is using battery cells of differing qualities - some better, some worse? This reminds me of the Apple 6S / 6S Plus processor fiasco - different processors (TSMC and Samsung) gave vastly different battery performance.

After almost dropping my phone several times while trying to pick it up from the table, decided to use a case already sweat.gif
The phone sides too thin and slightly slippery to hold

Looks like we have to wait for for an S7 edge's user to claim warranty and see what happens.

Yup, and also the batteries in the refurbished units are not new. As long as they are still of at least 80% functional capacity, then the Apple service centre will deem it 'valid for use' in refurbished units.

I think without proper tools its hard for them to have waterproofing again. If you watch jerryrigit, you wills ee their waterproofing mostly based on some sort of rubber or glue to seal it. Which I believe its not that easy without proper equipment and tools.

Yes, no issues when using cases. As long as the case isn't too thick (like those leather flip cases with polycarbonate plastic holder inside).

*
If you were to get the Clear View case, always make sure you have a screen protector first. There's various cases of the hard plastic flip scratching the screen for previous Clear View cases (for S6 Edge, Note 5, etc.)

Anyhow, the Clear View is indeed way more beautiful than the S-View cover. The S-View actually spoils the look of the S7 edge, to be honest.

1. Hardware warranty all will still be carried on according to the warranty period
2. If the screen does happen to crack or shatter again, (warranty for everything will be voided)
3. After screen replacement, IF YOU wet your phone and water sips through. Samsung DOES NOT cover the warranty.
*
Thanks for finding out more about this.

Since you mentioned "3. After screen replacement, IF YOU wet your phone and water sips through. Samsung DOES NOT cover the warranty.", so does this mean that Samsung WILL cover the warranty for wet / water-seap damage for S7 edge units which have not been repaired before? hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif

In this regard, Samsung should actually do both the rubber glue / seals and fully nano-coat the internal electronics such as Liquipel or using Motorola's proprietary nano-coating to make the electronics water-resistant.

But then again, nano-coats alone cannot really provide full IP68 performance (IIANM) and they may have their own shortcoming too (e.g. heat dissipation may no longer be good).

That's good to know. rclxms.gif

Another thing to ponder. If someone submerges their S7 edge inside water beyond the specified depth-limit and for longer than 30 minutes, and water does go into the S7 edge, will Samsung still cover the warranty? I'm not sure if Samsung can detect such 'misuses'. hmm.gif

Sony probably learnt their lesson on this too and that's why they are no longer mentioning that their phones are waterproof.

Since Sony waterproof with glue, probably they can't honor the warranty anymore.

But I do find it weird that Samsung can't honor them as well. Why?

Personally I replaced my S6e screen before and one of the item that was charged into the billing was a repair kit. According to the service advisor, it's those tapes that glued the back glass to the unibody chassis. If they clean it up properly, then reapply a new layer of the tape on the S7e chassis, theoretically they should be waterproof it. I don't think there will be different from manufacturing except this time it will be done by hand instead of robot.

That tape and waterproof is totally a different things. the tape is just to assemble back the screen but it do not have waterproof function. The only explanation I can think off is they do not have proper tools
to redo the whole waterproofing, after they fix but this does not mean it's not water proof it might still waterproof but there is chance of water go in. That's why to save theirself they will state to customer that after fixing no warranty for waterproofing anymore.

Pretty sure the waterproof is using glue that cannot be applied by the technician and they do not have proper equipment to test it anyway.

And from my experience in electronics mfg industry.

The quality is best from factory. Anything repaired outside is going to compromise the longevity of the device.

I bet that the repair technician did not even wear a glove smile.gif

Different? Jerry video took the back cover apart and there's nothing that sealed it except the tape. Of course the S6e is not water proof and I'm not referring to it. I'm just saying regardless of the repair, once they open the back cover, they will change the tape. Why they can't seal it back properly? More like excuse than anything.

Unless if you dropped the phone and the aluminium chassis is so badly deformed that it would compromise the water proofing.

Probably service centre doesn't have the proper tools or skills to seal it. Maybe the assembly is done by machine in factory during production.

Those are not double sided tape.

Those adhesive need special material to cure for instance UV light etc. And how are they going to test the water proof?

Repair is easily. Testing and debug is the hard part.

Yup, and also the batteries in the refurbished units are not new. As long as they are still of at least 80% functional capacity, then the Apple service centre will deem it 'valid for use' in refurbished units.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bw0f0IDVCE...ExPN3JZNjA/view

from http://www.androidcentral.com/batman-super...-justice-themes

you can follow the guide and do the whole theme setup but for me I just prefer to have the wallpaper

Of course, same as Sony. They will blame us for not taking care the phone carefully.
Btw, you can ask SC to test the waterproof, whether it still capable to be under water or not. Maybe every 2 months or frequent if you always bring in to swimming pool.

*
My main concern would be that I would be able to see who is calling and answer or reject call without having to open the flip cover. Apart from that would be auto wake/sleep feature which I trust both of the cases has. I have screen protector installed on the screen too.

Actually, I'm not a fan of flip case but this time I'm not going to take any risk of getting scratches or be it hairline scratches on the screen smile.gif

Nope. Before shipment.

Product testing is 100%

Each and every part is 100% test.

And, no. It is not as time consuming as you thought.

And yes. The production line is running 24/7.

I m now using a cheap Goosperry flipcase to protect my phone when I am out
It is cheap ( only RM 28 from lelong)
The phone edges are well protected and access to the edge is unhindered
It adds a very slight bulk to the phone but I love it as the original phone itself is too compact for me. I feel great using it with the phone
And I don't believe in using any form of SP on my phones
I am still waiting for my Spigen Rugged Armor backcase from Ebay. I will use this only at home

The best protection for s7 edge against drops would be to use those bulky flip cases as in your photo but with a buckle or clasp for the flip to prevent it from opening by itself when dropped.

Due to s7 edge's extreme fragility, I'm not sure if the Spigen Rugged Armor or Otterbox back covers can actually protect it from drop damage.

Actually you could order a cheapo glass protector off ebay before the pre order even began and it might reach u before you receive the phone. I've ordered mine already (including cheapo case) but yet to get the phone laugh.gif Call this a pre-emptive measure to avoid cases like yours.

Anyway, what do you mean in your previous post by "hardware warranty still applies" ?

for me is good enough, by the way, my phone have exchange sync active every hrs for email, calendar & contact.

so background apps is keep running but it still can hit more than 4hrs SOT, I'm happy with it.

some more while playing games, it only feel slightly warm, way better than my old S3 phone which is hot.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. notworthy.gif
What I mean was, to be called great efficiency in power consumption, it has to hit 6 hours of SOT with 3.6k mAh of battery capacity.
I myself can only hit 5 hours. doh.gif But I have not finished a cycle yet.

Just discovered that if you long press the "back" button, it will activate in-app menu function. Just tried it and it works on Nova home, Internet and Setting. Not sure if that's the case on s6edge but definitely not on Note 3

Assuming everyone's battery is in good condition and not defective, different users will have different SOTs. SOT is not exactly a good comparison because surely, a person gaming on the phone from full charge to 0% will have a lower SOT than a person who only uses the phone for emails or Web browsing (Wifi) and screen brightness at minimum.

I beg to differ. Vanilla android is "too simple" or empty. U dont get many features as on Touchwiz. But then again, everyone is entitled to their preferences. rolleyes.gif

Yes but it should not be too far off; especially comparing with the same user and usage pattern but different phone. My benchmark is Xperia Z3. 3100mAh but FullHD reso. Can easily last 5 hours of SOT for 3G browsing. WiFi will increase it past 6 hours.

Nope.

The Saving Power model limits your phone processor's performance to save power, turns off unnecessary display on physical buttons, restricts data. You can configure settings you prefer inside the settings.

Sorry. Missunderstood. rolleyes.gif

Manage app power saving: In settings > battery > app power saving > DETAILS you can see which apps are optimised for power saving. This is based on how regularly you use them. You can opt to always save power on apps you rarely use. They may not update or give you notifications until you open them again.

Nothing can be better/faster/safer than original.

Aukey if can output to 2 device then ok la.

Edit: just checked samsung on Adaptive Fast Charge.

Seems like 0 to 50% can be achieved in 30mins.

Of course after then it is normal rate about another hour to charge it to 100% to protect the batt.

SOT and battery life vary according to people and depending on each usage pattern. Some people are using power saving with 0 background sync, not using any location app like weather or waze. Some using with min brightness level.

S7edge battery is pretty optimises I would said. My location is always on, Bluetooth on 2.5 hour during my driving time, background sync for weather and 2 email account 24/7, waze for 2.5hours since my last unplugged. Other usage is Web surfing, whatsapp, line, wechat, fb and etc

Pretty sure it is stored in bookmark folder in your phone system file.

Need to do some digging. But you can easily google the exact folder name that you need to copy.

But still, any qalcomm quick charger 2.0 can still charge our exynos S7 faster than normal right?

why not sign a data plan?now all the data plan is quite worth.
telco are having price war now, we can get more data with very low price.

I do have a mobile internet plan. I mean I set my network to 2G only when I am on WiFi.

The signal on 2G is better, better signal = lower power consumption.

TQ for your reply bro.

Im planning to buy AUkey that come with 5usb slot, but if samsung stock are better than dont need to buy it.

But still, any qalcomm quick charger 2.0 can still charge our exynos S7 faster than normal right?
*
I just bought an Aukey charger with Qualcomm quick charge 3.0 from beanboy. In Aukey website it stated that 3.0 is 38% more efficient than 2.0. Not sure but will try to compare to stock charger later tonight.

My idea was getting another spare charger to put in office rclxm9.gif

As some shown here. With waze and background sync and all the heavy duty work. 6.5hour is achievable

QC3.0 is backward compatible with QC2.0, but S7Edge only support QC2.0, if future you buy a new phone that support QC3.0, you can still use the QC3.0 Charger, but if you exchange now for QC2.0 Charger, your future QC3.0 phone can't benefit of it.

I see many ppl compare the battery life with each other. I don't see the point by comparing. The battery life for each of us is very subjective. Different ppl different usage, and this lead to different battery life. Unless u are saying that ur usage of the phone is EXACTLY same with the others, then. U can compare.

I personally dont like to disable this disable that in order to get longer battery life, that spoil the purpose of having a smart phone. When battery runs low, just charge it

+1.. Very well said. This phone is already one of the best battery life android phone with excellence performance. Pay so much just use to the max. Quick charge also helps very much here. I am having tough time to deplete the battery for a day usage. lol

Yea, you do have a point, but tweaking and disabling stuff is the benefit of using Android, unlike iOS which most of the things default by the ecosystem. tongue.gif

I let all my WiFi, BT, Location, Data, Sync, AOD turn on.

And on the another side, those freaking bloatware by Samsung are annoying, for example, S Health, Microsoft Apps, Facebook, Instagram! Because they make it System Apps which I can't Doze them!

Do you see the point of posting in forum? Compared to just google for answer?

How about people rooting the phone to make it the way they like it?

Dude, calm down. I was referring to those ppl who are saying the battery life or SOT is not on par to the others, coz the battery usage is very subjective. Unless u want to change the way how u use the phone to how exactly other ppl use it.

Simply because i don't like restrictions.
Plus my phone is linked to my official "clean" account.
Don't want to link it to some of my "unclean" bookmarks.
Just some stupid OCD.

OK, did some testing.. I think only the "Application" storage will be transferred to External SD card, the "Data" part is still remained on the Internal Storage..

Then this won't help much on saving the Internal Storage spece, coz for most of the app, especially games, the "Data" portion is the one consumes most of the storage..

lol, they add the s7 and vr price
if you look carefully, the price is RM 3558, which s7 edge cost RM 3099, gear vr is RM 459
discount 13%, is a nice deal if you want gear vr
3099 discount 10% should be 2789.1
their maths is sucks devil.gif
should be gemfive cheaper bah
see this >> http://www.gemfive.com/my/electronics/mobi...atinum?___SID=U

before discount RM 2899, after apply code (TECH280) = 2619
but only got gold colour lar whistling.gif

Actually you could order a cheapo glass protector off ebay before the pre order even began and it might reach u before you receive the phone. I've  ordered mine already (including cheapo case) but yet to get the phone laugh.gif Call this a pre-emptive measure to avoid cases like yours.

Anyway, what do you mean in your previous post by "hardware warranty still applies" ?
*
what im trying to say is after the screen replacement by Samsung, your phone is still covered under warranty with the exception of water damage.

Just bought my clear view flip cover today. I would say it does attract finger print while it leaves a little portion of the edgy screen left uncovered. Otherwise it would be a good and stylish case. smile.gif

To my doorstep.

When i go thru the items... it will not be a simple install.

What they give is 2 piece of plastic sheet which one for the front and one for the back.
the Back portion has cutouts for sides, top and bottom. even has for camera.... for sensors - don't have.

A squeegee. Lint cloth and instructions printed on A4 paper.
Mind you - no packaging was given at all - its' just all within an envelope backed by hard cardboard.

Installation scale for noob like me - scale 1 to 10 (10 hardest) - it will 8 for me.

they advise to use a soap and water with wet fingers and wet the surface of the phone and sp - and apply.
squeeze out the water on one side first - to confirm the placement is right, before proceeding to next. always keep fingers wet to prevent from fingerprints - then wait from 2 to 5 days to dry and clear.

since the phone is waterproof, it will be no problem...

hope for the best... icon_rolleyes.gif

You can try AliExpress. I ordered this Choetech wireless charger (T518 White) for USD 15.70 with free shipping. Item in transit so I have not received it yet.
The Seller has now changed the price to USD 19.19 and for the AliExpress 6th Anniversary Sale that starts on 29 March, the price will be USD 18.14. Suggest you search through the AliExpress as you may be able to get a better price.
