QUOTE(alvin ong @ Mar 22 2016, 09:02 PM) customer service from 2 separate centre told me that the waterproofing warranty will be gone. Means they cannot guarantee that the phone is still IP68 complied. since the phone is disassembled. Learnt few things today1. Hardware warranty all will still be carried on according to the warranty period 2. If the screen does happen to crack or shatter again, (warranty for everything will be voided) 3. After screen replacement, IF YOU wet your phone and water sips through. Samsung DOES NOT cover the warranty. |

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Mar 22 2016, 09:24 PM) May I know which SC you went? Ipoh, Angsana mall and de Gardens. still waiting for my friend to ask Sunway. My battery life was quite poor on this phone. I am planning to send it in for inspection. My concern is the waterproofing since they may teardown the phone to inspect the battery. Mine can easily last 1 day with 30% plus left by the end of the day. This post has been edited by eugenetwh: Mar 22 2016, 09:32 PM |

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Mar 22 2016, 09:48 PM) I only manage to get 3 hours+. That is not much better than my Note 3. i got a feeling it will be. since tear it down does states that they have to remove the back case which will affect the IP68. not sure if samsung will be doing it right or not. Sony used to cover my Xperia Z with full warranty even with screen replacement(yea tough luck again)BT, NFC, GPS, Rotation disabled Thanks, do update us about the waterproofing. I afraid that our waterproof seal will be affected even for warranty repair. |

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Mar 22 2016, 10:04 PM) I I guess it is pure luck. Tried that. No difference. I hope Samsung is able to provide a 1 to 1 exchange like Apple. I believe if the seals are replaced properly, waterproofing will be retained. It depends on the competency of the technician I guess. QUOTE(alvin ong @ Mar 22 2016, 10:05 PM) If they reassemble it the same way they took it apart, I'm sure the waterproofing would still be there right? Provided they use the proper seal QUOTE(Underwood @ Mar 22 2016, 10:08 PM) QUOTE(K1d0 @ Mar 22 2016, 10:20 PM) I think without proper tools its hard for them to have waterproofing again. If you watch jerryrigit, you wills ee their waterproofing mostly based on some sort of rubber or glue to seal it. Which I believe its not that easy without proper equipment and tools. Correct based on jerry and other tear it down vids. the phone's water proofing it just being glued together on the front and back to the chasis. theres no seal or nothing on the glasses. (only the ports) Sad but true.Yeah will do |

QUOTE(shockk @ Mar 22 2016, 10:29 PM) Thanks for finding out more about this. should be it. since if water seeps through with all the (ports sealed nicely. it should be waterproofed.) if water does seeps through, it would be some manufacturing defects. like my Xperia Z. yes.... first day itself. masuk air. LOL 1 to 1 exchangeSince you mentioned "3. After screen replacement, IF YOU wet your phone and water sips through. Samsung DOES NOT cover the warranty.", so does this mean that Samsung WILL cover the warranty for wet / water-seap damage for S7 edge units which have not been repaired before? |

QUOTE(shockk @ Mar 22 2016, 10:38 PM) In this regard, Samsung should actually do both the rubber glue / seals and fully nano-coat the internal electronics such as Liquipel or using Motorola's proprietary nano-coating to make the electronics water-resistant. You dont say i dont say. who knows. But then again, nano-coats alone cannot really provide full IP68 performance (IIANM) and they may have their own shortcoming too (e.g. heat dissipation may no longer be good). That's good to know. Another thing to ponder. If someone submerges their S7 edge inside water beyond the specified depth-limit and for longer than 30 minutes, and water does go into the S7 edge, will Samsung still cover the warranty? I'm not sure if Samsung can detect such 'misuses'. Sony probably learnt their lesson on this too and that's why they are no longer mentioning that their phones are waterproof. dont quote me |

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Mar 23 2016, 09:39 AM) Actually you could order a cheapo glass protector off ebay before the pre order even began and it might reach u before you receive the phone. I've ordered mine already (including cheapo case) but yet to get the phone what im trying to say is after the screen replacement by Samsung, your phone is still covered under warranty with the exception of water damage.Anyway, what do you mean in your previous post by "hardware warranty still applies" ? |

QUOTE(Haruji Sora @ Mar 23 2016, 07:13 PM) There is a thing call Smart Switch not sure why but i cant use it with my flex2. they even say my phone is not supported. force to use wondershare.http://www.samsung.com/us/smart-switch/ Apparently it can work over iOS as well. So most probably easy to switch most of your contacts and pictures and media. I doubt apps can transfer over though for obvious reason. Whatsapp can backup to Google Drive and restore again for chats. Wechat I dont use, so I dont know. |

Guys. finally sent my phone to repair the shattered screen. A different Service Assistant told me. That after they replace the screen assembly. they will test it to make sure everything is working like new including IP68. yes, they have the tool to test it in the service centre which i assume (washing it and soaking it in a small fish tank)
They wll make sure it is water resistant IP68 complied before giving us the phone. |

QUOTE(Tun Mahathir @ Mar 26 2016, 01:11 PM) RM1148.80 i think. 500 deposit. sent in at 12+- ready to be collected tonight at 9pmQUOTE(shockk @ Mar 26 2016, 01:11 PM) Lets hope so because its a 2 v 1 situation.... 1 being it will still be water resistantQUOTE(shockk @ Mar 26 2016, 01:15 PM) What if it is not owner's negligence? If water damaged the phone from usage within IP68 specifications, will Samsung still claim owner negligence? It's very hard for them to know also, right? This im not sure. i assume when the phone is tested and it is properly sealed. any water damage after that would be deemed as owner's negligence gua.. I do not wish to find out about this after my display incident This post has been edited by eugenetwh: Mar 26 2016, 01:19 PM |
