Thanks for the input guys. I'll put subwoofer into my study room as my living room occupied by my wifey to watch Korean drama which I felt no need for subwoofer there. How about dual sb series? Suitable for movies usage?
*
Yes. Dual sub good for movie & Music. This will improve sound quality of all channel.

2 sub will better one sub.   With front & back opposite corner placement.  For Small room no need powerful subwoofer, unless you got very good room treatment to handle. For example, My velodyne subwoofer with 1250 watt RMS at living room of small apartment . The room EQ only allow my subwoofer  open sound volume until 5 only. BUT  My sub max volume is 99.  If I increase volume to 6. My other channel will start become blur.
*
corner loaded ppl just want loudness... nothing wrong if this is the objective, quality bass usually takes a back seat

ideally a 2-sub set up should go towards minimizing room node hot spots... a single sub + dsp can only help so much but a dual sub will manage it way better... they are placed at harmonic distances different from each other... obviously dual sub + dsp will be ideal

op's room doesn't look problematic... if it's my room I'd start with a single sb1000 or sb2000... and add a second later if required... a sb with gradual roll will give a much better flat and extended sub-20hz frequency response when factored in room gains

Yes. Sealed subs are absolutely great for movies too.

I have 4 SB3000s and a pair of crowson actuators, no ported subs for me eventhough I can fit them in my room. For movies I have output down to 5hz. Without the actuators, the subs themselves go down to 14hz. So definitely more than enough output.

It's important to understand that you MUST time align and level match multiple subs, so that they play in phase with each other. You must use an appropriate crossover (80hz is NOT always the best setting contrary to popular belief). You should also EQ out big peaks and add a nice house curve. All this is made easier with a minidsp and REW.

I'm biased to sb... but I also have pb... wink.gif

anyways action movies have plenty of music too...in fact much more than explosions and earthquakes...

It's not that bad. I have tried Hans Zimmer Live in Prague at reference volume before, neighbor can feel some rumbling but it's not too annoying they say.

I purposely reinforced and minimize as much as possible for my HT room. It's not entirely sound proof (no rooms are, unless you're in the middle of no where), but good enough I guess. I don't listen at reference volume very often anyways, the pressure from all that low frequency is insane.

Hello, I plan to setup home theater system mainly for movies usage.

Budget around RM1.5K to RM2K.
I can stretch the budget until RM2.5K

My house living room size around 10ft x 10ft and live in Condominium.

Any recommendations? Wish to get Edifier S360DB or S3000 Pro.
Any other recommendations besides above?
Plan to connect to TV, don't need DVD player.

2.1 or 2.0 system is fine.
If got 5.1 then consider as a bonus.

not the correct thread for the question bro.. here the discussion is more on AVR setup.

you need to check first if your tv support 3.5mm line out or optical.. most modern tv uses hdmi and optical. some had ditches 3.5mm or rca out.

Both S360DB or S3000 pro supports optical and 3.5mm but not HDMI in. For normal usage i think it can enhance ur tv audio for sure.

For alternative, the best u can get is those sound bar with your budget if you prefer HDMI connection. Or you can invest on airpulse A80 (2k+) or airpulse A100 (3k+) where it supports for subwoofer out where you can buy a active subwoofer to enhance ur experience. One day when u r serious into HT and wanted to plan for dedicated system.. these airpulse u can downgrade it for ur music listening and they will still able to do a good job if you are not too demanding.

Oh, I'm sorry.
One of the member to ask me on this thread for home theater setup. Apologies on the wrong thread.
Which thread should I ask for recommendations?

Wish to ask on home theater thread but that thread only for showing as clean thread. Afraid cannot ask there.

Sorry not much help sweat.gif

Since you mostly for movie, 5.1 system would be better than 2.0 or 2.1
You can get AVR + speakers. Example are like this seller stuff
https://www.lazada.com.my/shop/style-laser?path=index.htm

Or get all in one like this. But I think less popular choice for this kind of setup nowadays.
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/panasoni...7906284144.html

Now more popular are soundbar because it's compact and also can simulate surround sound. There are very cheap one with not great sound and there's model with ATMOS but not cheap.
Last time I think this is one of the popular model when I was thinking to buy soundbar. Don't know if there's newer and better model now
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/samsung-...0087327547.html

AVR + speakers can easily go way above your budget, especially if you want to get AVR with more features or branded speaker.
If soundbar, you can try read this thread to see if there's useful info for soundbar that suitable for you.

Thank you for the information. Already ask there before also.
Someone recommended the creative stage V2 but in Malaysia only got V1. Probably get the 2.0/2.1 or 5.1 soundbar or 2.1 with atmos. Will take time to decide. Thank you again ya.

Maybe myself thinking to get either Sony S20R or S500RF.
That Samsung Soundbar someone bought around 3K during 9.9 sales. Or the Edifier S360DB or S3000 Pro.
Try to make it simple if without cable around to the sofa area.

This mean your ears are upgrade to another level. You need to start invest some 5.1 or 5.1.2 av system to enjoy better sound quality.

I think this depend the sound quality of the Movie or TV drama. Some movie I also hard to hear surround sound even I am using 5.1 system.
I like to test surround sound of UHD movie 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) . I can feel monster run at top of my head, even using 5.1 non atmos system.
