Frm my view, Atmos soundbar with rear speakers cn be slightly better than Atmos soundbar w/o rear speakers but it can't surely trump a true surround 5.1 Home Theatre system. You can surely notice the difference when testing out these 2 setups. Soundbars in general is just an upgrade over TV speakers and suitable for people who don't want too many wiring in and out around the TV area.

No soundbars will ever be able to outperform or will be comparable to a dedicated 5.1 system...
But there are some which do a very good job, e.g. Samsung Q90R (And their newer equivalent models)

Hey guys, can recommend soundbar price range from RM400 - RM800
Use for movies only or sometimes music.

I am currently looking at Vinnfier BTR 800. Is it good?
Can recommend any other model. Might get in three months time.

Just wondering I had a old philips soundbar with Wireless subwoofer, the subwoofer always drop the bluettoh connection which very very annoying.. Anyone got solution for that ah?

Move the soundbar and the subwoofer closer. If it still happens, then electronic components in either the soundbar or the subwoofer are dying. Send it for repairs if possible.

The alternative is doing it yourself by finding the subwoofer signal from the mobo of the main unit and connect it directly to the subwoofer using wires.

Is samsung q600a rm1.5k worth the rm500 over samsung a650 rm1k?

Reading review etc spec wise diff is q600a 3.1.2 dolby atmos while a650 3.1 no atmos.

Im not audiophile and have no idea what atmos bring and if it worth that rm500.

Actly prefer to get Sony bar to pair with my sony x90j tv...but couldnt find any sony 3.1 bar within budget.

Since you are not audiophile and prefer Sony, you can get HT-S40r, 5.1 with wireless rears speakers.

Surround sound starts at 5.1 where 5 is Left, Center, Right, Left Surround and Right Surround channels. .1 is for the subwoofer channel. 7.1 adds Left Rear and Right Rear channels.

Atmos/DTS-X starts at 5.1.2 where 2 are the Left and Right Height channels.

The A650 is a 3.1 system while the Q600A is a 3.1.2 as you noted. To get the full surround/Atmos effect, you need to buy the Wireless Surround Kit that Samsung sells separately which I think is about RM500.

Realistically speaking, at the price level you've budgeted, the differences between Samsung and Sony would be minor.

If you have a reasonable budget, and want something compact and want to enjoy a good true sound , always buy a Soundbar with Atmos, a budget 2.0 soundbar with Atmos or a better one with a sub-woofer.
The ones without Atmos are cheaper, but you dont get the good surround sound.
This experience is worth the extra money, that is if you have the money to spend.

This might be the best Speaker system ever !!
Recently i am exploring the world of Soundbar for my living room, my priority was simple look with decent sound quality . After doing some research in various shop and stores , I was stick to either Sonos or Bose system.

However when i went to Sony center at the Curve yesterday, the Salesperson show me this latest Surround system . At first i am rejecting him as i think this is beyond my budgeting, yet he insisted me no harm to try.

And guess what , once i sit in to try , voila ! This system is freaking amazing that let me feels like inside the cinema, the details it presenting are giving me chills ! The quality are simply outstanding and the Bose 700 or Sonos Arc are totally dethroned when competing against this Sony !

When play some Dolby Atmos film, this speakers delivered with superb 3D surround effects . When play some dialogue, every words are crispy clear even without the center speakers !
Currently its only available at Sony storeThe curve , Im strongly advise everyone to experience it ! Do not deceived by the noob looking appearance.
