All those complaining about content, it's not as simple as you think. For one, Netflix being official here is already a good start.
Publishers, studios, sub-productions all need to have a new license deal for their shows/movies to be presented here. You think these deals take 5 minutes to sign? You think there aren't hoops to jump through with our oh-so-amazing government? Give it time. UK netflix didn't became as good as US Netflix overnight either. Lucky enough that nothing is censored first and foremost. This post has been edited by SSJBen: Jan 7 2016, 12:37 PM |

It's quite common for foreign online transactions to be declined for some credit cards. You will then have to call your bank to have them allow the transaction for that merchant, and you have to try again.

I've a strange situation though for the clock content. eg: I can play Penguins the Madagascar: The Movie using my laptop chrome browser and android app. However when I cast this movie to chromecast using my android phone, it says content not available in malaysia. Use my sony blu ray to open the same movie also shows content not available in this country. Strange..

From our experience, the best content is Netflix Canada.
Change our VPN region to Canada, login Netflix, and vava-voom! Example of content:- Hannibal Suits Transformers Revenge of the Fallen The Matrix Reloaded |

QUOTE(llaw @ Jan 8 2016, 08:47 PM) Do you managed to get Dolby 5.1 surround? I only get stereo despite streaming HD Yes, If both your setup and the movie or TV show has DD 5.1, the option will definitely be there before hitting play. Its actually enabled by default. I.e. Netflix app on supported Samsung Smart TV + BD-HT.Also, there's no option to select Dolby 5.1 |

To be able to download Netflix from Store, you will need to set your Windows region to US and you must logon to Windows Store with a Microsoft account. |

So guys, with Netflix now in Msia, im thinking of getting a sub for my parents so they can watch it.
But our tv is a normal HDTV, not smart TV. Whats the best/cheapest way to be able to get Netflix/Iflix on this tv? Chromecast? Means using phone as a remote, right? Will it drain Phone Battery? Sorry new tech for me. Any input or links go read up more is appreciated. |

i just played with local netflix a bit, just to share...
i tried to get 4k stream failed. my 4k android and 4K uhdtv not listed in the support lists. impt read: QUOTE Can I stream Netflix in Ultra HD? https://help.netflix.com/en/node/13444]https://help.netflix.com/en/node/13444 .. no 4k content label displayed on local netflix. .. if direct on tv, not all models of major brands support it. .. if using other devices, only a few support it now, more may come later. .. content seriously lacking, only 40 tv shows. .. almost zero asian content but... very easy to navigate, fast, smooth, good subs. i tried just to learn something. as it is, i will not continue. will reconsider when there are significant changes. one thing this local netflix shows - if gomens can control less and corps make less profits, streaming hd/uhd videos is a piece of cake! QUOTE(alucard89 @ Jan 10 2016, 09:22 PM) Bro, on those android box/stick certified by Netflix AFAIK, Nope.. However, those test videos are accurate enough.. You play the test video, give it about 5+ minutes to average out. Make sure you are not torrenting. Besides, a 1080p image on a 1080p TV is quite unmistakable... Here's the thing, on my Samsung Smart TV, while watching any video and at any point, pressing the info button on the TV remote brings up a small info window at the top left showing the time spent over time left and the current resolution being streamed. So it is possible... To summarize, Approved device + sufficient bandwidth + HD subscription = Win!..Is there an easy way to get some quality indication settings on the display? Other than viewing Netflix test video that shows the resolution/bitrate https://www.reddit.com/r/NetflixBestOf/comm...st_your_netflix Edit: Sufficient bandwidth being minimum 10Mbps for full HD & 30Mbps for UHD. Yeah, I'm aware that Netflix's recommendations are 5Mbps & 25Mbps respectively, but since when does minimum = okay.. It's like buying a PC, just because Microsoft says Windows needs a minimum of 1GB RAM, doesn't mean that it's sufficient in the long run. Netflix Internet Connection Speed Requirements. this local netflix is easy, smooth and reliable.
works on androids (all, i think), pc windows, ipad and probably all other popular devices/machines. u can watch a show on tv in living room, move to pc in yr office and then finish up on ipad in the toilet continuously! well very done for that. big problem is very limited content. |

IMO not worth the monthly subscription fee with those very very limited contents compared to original US content
I think not even 10% of it is available in term of price per content, iflix won the race by miles |

QUOTE Netflix to Block Tools That Flout Local Copyright Restrictions January 15, 2016 — 9:31 AM MYT Move comes after Netflix expanded to 130 new countries Netflix Inc. will step up its efforts to block subscribers from watching TV shows and movies not available on the streaming service in their home country, a nod to copyright holders who have long expressed frustration that customers were illegally viewing their intellectual property. Netflix will stop people from using virtual private network proxies to access the service as if they were in another country, the company said in a blog post. Customers have used VPNs to access Netflix in countries where the streaming service wasn’t available. Netflix introduced its service to more than 130 new countries last week, extending its reach everywhere but China and three territories where U.S. law forbids the company from operating. Netflix can offer customers a localized version of the service in all 190 countries, though the variety of programming available can vary depending on its licensing rights in each location. Netflix's Plan for Global Domination “In coming weeks, those using proxies and unblockers will only be able to access the service in the country where they currently are,” David Fullagar, vice president of content delivery architecture, said in the post. “We are confident this change won’t impact members not using proxies.” http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/201...ht-restrictions |

Doesn't matter to me, I am going to cancel when trial ends anyway. The movies available at Netflix are outdated and besides I already have most of them anyway in full HD and 5.1 sound.
Currently Netflix with my wireless hotspot 3Mbps , I can only get SD streaming and only stereo sound because I am using Browser to watch. Even KODI , with some movies, I can at least get 5.1 sound on my Optical cable to my AVR. |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jan 15 2016, 12:42 PM) Nah.. It's nothing new.. It's a cat and mouse game and the mouse ALWAYS wins (TPB/PT/KickAss T vs "Big Media"). .. There are much more private ways to access such content and with the way most VPNs (proper ones) are setup, it's impossible to completely block access as the internet doesn't work that way. There are legitimate users in say the USA who work behind encrypted connections, be it for work or so as to maximize the full bandwidth they pay their ISPs (remember last year's Netflix drama with Comcast etc). It's like the great firewall of China, things still get through for those who know |

But too bad Netflix is going to block VPN users.. they will fail in their quest to block. or they simply wanna create headlines as to assure content providers that they're doing something to ensure those contents are not viewed outside agreed locations.

Out of curiosity I decided to try out Netflix's Dolby 5.1 sound on my PC.
Since Netflix has a dedicated application for Win 8 (without the need for using browser), I booted to my Windows 8 (My PC is Dual Boot Win7 + 8), downloaded and installed the App, and set my Windows Default sound to SPDIF output (connected to my AVR). Then started the Netflix app, and tested one of the movies with DD 5.1 and compared it with the same title (in MKV) with DD5.1 on my Media player. (Both showed Dolby Digital 5.1 on AVR as expected) However I noticed the Netflix 5.1 sound was inferior quality. The surround is much softer and less clear. My guess is that Netflix re-encoded the Dolby sound to lesser quality to save bandwidth. This post has been edited by Ngto: Jan 16 2016, 09:20 PM |

The highest quality Netflix can provide is no direct match against a Blu-ray disc or properly encoded rip. However, the end product also relies on the post-processing done by display screens (Monitor, TVs, etc), media players and sound systems.Since Netflix has a dedicated application for Win 8 (without the need for using browser), I booted to my Windows 8 (My PC is Dual Boot Win7 + 8), downloaded and installed the App, and set my Windows Default sound to SPDIF output (connected to my AVR). Has anyone tried Netflix with Apple TV 3?
When the Audio is set to Dolby Digital (DD), there is no sound output. The sound output is fine when the Audio is set to Auto (Stereo). |

Just as I was wondering what devices are available to stream Netflix at high quality (I own a Himedia Q16). I found that PS3 is one of the best device to stream Netflix. I actually have a PS3 collecting dust in my living room. Time restore it to its glory days again!

Its been discussed earlier, only Netflix certified devices like your PS3 will be able to stream full HD or UHD (depending on device). The rest including tons of android boxes/TVs/Players out there will only be able to get 480p res max. |

Ok, i tested netflix on my ps3 and it was awesome, managed to get 1080p for most shows. Earlier there were complaints that the content is lacking, but when i signed on yesterday, the content was quite plentiful. In fact the content should last me a year of viewing. Jessica Jones, Orange is the new black, Narcos, Daredevil etc.......

So i guess it depends on individual whether the current content will keep you happy for at least a few months before more titles are added. I read that in US there are more than 6,000 titles, not sure if we even have more than a few hundred. |

"SINGAPORE: Despite launching with relatively smaller library in the Singapore market, Netflix has promised that more content will be added to its service gradually.
Results on search engine Filmefy shows that Netflix offers approximately 650 TV and movie titles in Singapore, just a fraction of the 5,654 titles available in the United States. In Malaysia, 695 titles are listed, and in Hong Kong there are 540 titles on offer to be streamed. Responding to queries from Channel NewsAsia, a Netflix spokesperson said on Wednesday (Jan 13) that the gradual ramping up of offerings is to allow the company to “better understand what its members want to watch in each region”. “In most markets, the size of the catalogue doubles in the first year,” the spokesperson added. For 2016, Netflix said it plans to release 31 new and returning original series, two dozen original feature films and documentaries, a wide range of stand-up comedy specials and 30 original kids series - available at the same time to its members everywhere." Extracted from Singapore news. We have 695 titles here. Apparently you can e-mail customer service to request for titles, they may add it gradually. |

SG also has a fibre broadband "No Contract 1Gbps at $59.99/mth (under RM200)".. This is bolehland and Netflix has barely settled and already the talks of censorship has begun. IMO, I'll believe it when I see it. |

QUOTE(voncrane @ Jan 21 2016, 05:31 PM) How do you drive a vehicle? I'm using a Sharp 630x with native Netflix App built into its Android TV and optical out to Anthem Mrx 500 AV Receiver with 5.1 speakers. Hint: Need more specifics.. What devices are being used? Are they officially supported by Netflix? What have you done so far? Does your sound system support DD 5.1? etc... Can't read your mind. For starters SG ≠ MY. SG also has a fibre broadband "No Contract 1Gbps at $59.99/mth (under RM200)".. This is bolehland and Netflix has barely settled and already the talks of censorship has begun. IMO, I'll believe it when I see it. Just hooked it up yesterday, able to watch 4k Netflix with Maxis 10Mbps, but how do you know which show is able to allow 5.1 ? |

QUOTE To adjust subtitles on most Blu-ray players, Smart TVs, and set-top boxes: Launch the Netflix app. Select the movie or TV show you want to play. Select Audio & Subtitles from the options panel. Select your preferred audio or subtitle options. Press Back to return to the options panel. Select Play. Audio & Subtitles options are also accessible while a movie or TV show is playing: Play a movie or TV show. While the movie or TV show is playing, press the Down arrow. Select Audio & Subtitles. Select your preferred audio or subtitle options. Note: If you are unable to complete the steps above, subtitles are not supported on your device. |

Hmm, not supposed to. So begs the question, sure you are getting 4K and not up-scaled 1080p? Is there like an info button on the remote/TV you could press to check? Or just search and play the Netflix speed test video titled "Example Short 23.976". Give it a few minutes to average out and watch the top left corner for the streaming bit rate and resolution. This post has been edited by voncrane: Jan 22 2016, 01:43 PM |

QUOTE(DannyOP @ Jan 22 2016, 01:56 PM) If I'm understanding you right, you've noticed the 4K icon from Netflix's library itself correct? Netflix then streams to the quality your bandwith can handle which it auto-detects. Vonframe is pretty much right, you'll need to test independently with Netflix's demo loop or if your TV can give you some info on the current source. I personally don't think you're getting 4K on a 10Mbps connection, time to upgrade! |

Ok guys. The news that netflix is going to clamp down on unblocker is not just lip service. I use unblock-us to access US netflix and i could not access some shows, error message popped out " it seems that you are using an unblocker".....just like what some Australian have reported. I fear we may have to live with netflix Malaysia content moving forward...sigh..

They have started blocking alright. Expect to see error such as 'Youre using proxies yada yada...' soon.
But relax people, there are already walkarounds too. |

QUOTE(DannyOP @ Jan 23 2016, 11:11 AM) There’s even a way to test your Netflix performance in real time, thanks to a little-known 11-minute short on Netflix titled Example Short 23.976. Once launched, it will play back a series of unconnected clips—a gurgling fountain, a guy dressed in black moonwalking with a laptop, a time lapse of an evening sky, and a shot of the Netflix office in Los Gatos, among others. |

For ps3, if press the select button, it will show the reso of the movie playing i have tried netflix on both uhd tv and q16.on the q16 (or any uncertified device), the selection is not even labeled as "hd". which means it is sd (<720p). if the avr or tv has upscaling, it comes out not too bad, almost 720p. this video quality is probably the one for "std package" on whatever device or tv used. on a certified tv, every show is labeled "hd" or "ultra hd". the hd is 1080p, ultra is 4k. pretty sure about that. above is, of course, for "uhd package", rm51. safe to assume for "std package" (RM42), only hd will show up. checked a bit more for 4k contents... there are a no. of tv shows and a good no. of documentaries in 4k, incl netflix originals. |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jan 24 2016, 01:16 AM) unfortunately, local version has limited 4k stuff. Shops like speedy have to innovate or die.. Though there are still people who buy the occasional DVD/Blu-ray disc, mainly for keepsakes & to show support. It's the law of business.. See Nokia & Blockbuster.. Now, failed companies... Netflix started out renting DVDs & sending out by mail. Now they have about 75 million customers, with 44 million in just the USA. With their current expansion, the numbers should grow larger. Netflix USA & Canada has the good stuff, but even that is still limited. To me 4K media still has some ways to go. Good thing is that, it will improve & it's only a matter of time till it hits a decent adoption rate worldwide. Based on past actions, I don't think Netflix will increase the price much, except the RM drops even more, can't blame them there. Unless the cost of releasing their entire library to the Malaysian market is too much for them to bear, then it's only natural they adjust their prices. Even then, probably no more than say +RM10 - RM20.hope they improve fast enough, and w/o raising price! i am quite impressed with the stability of it with unifi30, wifi. even for 4k videos, there was not a single jerk on the several checked over a couple of hours. hd videos come out very good too - 1080p, upscaled by tv, very good. the netflix experience left me with one side thought: with such technology, how long can video shops like speedy last? |

QUOTE(jchue73 @ Jan 24 2016, 11:56 PM) I'm aware of Netflix's 25Mbps requirement. But that's probably by US standards... Or is it not and that it has some kind of safety factors? Recommendations are just that, the minimum required as set by the provider, in this case, Netflix.. To them, that's the minimum they expect consumers to have in order to have a decent UHD experience & not have to blame Netflix later if a steady UHD stream isn't achieved. So having 30Mbps will be helpful. Besides, if we are talking about TM's Unifi plans, IMO, the Advance 30Mbps plan Is cheaper than the older VIP20 plan or incase downgrading incurs fees, perhaps consider the Advance 50Mbps plan... It's more than enough to simultaneously handle Netflix UHD + some throttled torrenting and or YouTube 1080p on other connected devices.I think file sizes don't matter as long as the bit rate is reasonable for streaming. QUOTE(hydelai @ Jan 25 2016, 07:58 AM) QUOTE Netflix is available in Ultra HD on select Sony TVs. To stream Ultra HD, you will need: A TV compatible with Ultra HD streaming from Netflix. See below for more details. A plan that supports streaming in Ultra HD. You can check which plan you're currently on at www.netflix.com/ChangePlan. A steady Internet connection speed of 25 megabits per second or higher. See below for more details. Make sure your streaming quality is set to "High." QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jan 25 2016, 07:48 PM) for anyone have doubts on netflix, good news... According to the distance calculator I need at least 100 inch or more to notice difference between 4k and 1080p above 10 feet. I don't have that much budget to buy a 100" tv though. IMO, Unless you are very close to your contract termination date & would rather be free, I say upgrade. I'm still on VIP10 myself but will be calling TM later to negotiate a favorable upgrade and I'm less than a year away from contract termination. My initial excuse for not upgrading last year was I needed the full 10Mbps upload speed vs 5Mbps being offered then. However, been reading around the forum & it appears that TM has increased the Advance 30 plan to 30Mbps down & 10Mbps up. I'm not quite sure if the increase is officially available for new & upgrading users or just for existing subscribers. Higher download speeds at more or less the same price as the older VIP10 plan. Sounds right. This post has been edited by voncrane: Jan 26 2016, 01:53 PM |

Is there like an info button you could press on the remote? Should show the current resolution while streaming if there's such a feature. Works on some Samsung TVs. With 10Mbps, I still believe that you are only getting 720p or 1080p & that's being upscaled by the TV. For now, just enjoy it & or upgrade speed. 100" screen not required.According to the distance calculator I need at least 100 inch or more to notice difference between 4k and 1080p above 10 feet. QUOTE(voncrane @ Jan 25 2016, 10:12 AM) Recommendations are just that, the minimum required as set by the provider, in this case, Netflix.. It's more than enough to simultaneously handle Netflix UHD + some throttled torrenting and or YouTube 1080p on other connected devices. Thanks for the reply. I'm currently on Maxis 20Mbps. Paying cheaper under Maxis One Plan. No contract with them anymore. I'm thinking about increasing broadband speed and probably downgrading my Astro. Jump back to Unifi or stay with Maxis... |

As per jumping ship, that depends on if the need for higher speed > current RM cost. First test the streaming results with the current Maxis 20Mbps & if still unsatisfied, then jump ship.. No need to hurry into a 2 year contract.. |

I'm thinking about increasing broadband speed and probably downgrading my Astro. Jump back to Unifi or stay with Maxis... this is always a tough one.i almost switched to maxis at one stage but i could not risk being capped on download GB's or throttled at certain hours, which was what i read in the broadband threads - not sure if it is true today or not. the second factor was astro - do i need it? answer was quite clear to me, no need. on the other hand unifi's hypptv hd contents improved quite a lot. the third factor was i realized the router is impt - changing to a better router improved everything all round - stability, max speeds and wifi coverage. i have since upgraded (contract expired then) from vip10 to unifi30 at about same price, kept the same hypptv package and have all the speed i need for a total of 11 devices, incl uhd tv. when the time comes that i need 50mbps for more powerful androids or more 4k content, i will not hesitate. hope u come to a good solution. |

Been really enjoying the netflix content so far, although I am having problem with Netflix blocking VPN at the moment. I think the vpn providers are trying to resolve the issue atm. But if the local content are increased, there may not be a need for vpn..

For tech savvy people can try this private method, this is one of it, https://github.com/ab77/netflix-proxy/blob/master/README.md it's easier than previous setup thanks to docker pre configure everything for us. Just a few command line and you can access US content.

Anyone know any fast us dns vpn for streamyx?
I've tried unotelly, getflix, tvunblock and they all max out at around 3mbps on my 8mbps streamyx. Without dns no problem streaming 720p/1080p at >6-7mbps but less content on msian netflix. Tried the same dns setting on unifi and it can stream up to 9mbps easily for 1080p content. Obviously streamyx and unifi are two different service but it still bugs me out how I'm limited to only 3mbps downstream. Any other streamyx users care to share your experience? |

QUOTE(jchue73 @ Feb 14 2016, 11:45 PM) My free trial ended and I did not extend my subscription. understandable...For me, the only tempting proposition to subscribe to Netflix is 4k. Content wise, it's nothing compared to what I can download and view offline. Will definitely give it a serious thought once my TV and bandwidth is ready for it. downloading is surely more economical. but i just thought i can afford rm1.40 a day. seriously, i sometimes get a little tired of downloading, copying to hdd, etc. there is small tnb cost too. 4k quality is excellent but content is limited, and will be so for a while. i resubscribed <less than 2 weeks after free trial. piece of cake - once u've been on the trial, they know everything about u. one click is all it takes to restart and yr card gets charged within the next hr. partly out of curiosity, i first took the basic pack rm33. yes, it is only sd but comes with dd5.1. i then upgraded to hd pack rm42, all becomes hd, dd5.1. can upgrade to uhd4k rm51 anytime but thought i'll wait a month or 2 since i have watched most of the 4k stuff during the trial. been watching a couple of old movies and some documentaries. i also noticed there are a few korean and one (yes, just 1) chinese tv series (mandarin/eng subs). hope more will get into the library. if there is nothing left to watch, i will just terminate, resubscribe at another time. the good news is there is no penalty for this unlike astro that charge even for a package downgrade. one thing netflix has demonstrated - sd, hd, 4k, dd5.1 - the tech is there for reliable smooth streaming. so, all the difficulties we encounter in iflix, atog, hypp e'where, kodi - be it "why no hd", poor audio or lagging - all that is becos someone or some party simply won't give it for free, and with good reason. can't expect everything free, yet expect big budget shows to keep coming! |

in this thread, i remember there were posts saying "unblock us" doesn't work anymore as well "it still works", special dns still can get usa netflix, etc.
since netflix has declared they will stop all that in a recent major announcement, and if it still possible for the ordinary user to do find backdoors, it can only mean netflix is not able to stop it. which in turn means the biz $ is still leaking. hence, i will not buy netflix stock yet. |

There was a small hiccup with Unotelly when Netflix started their block, but everything is working smooth as butter now. They managed a workaround.
Ipad, PS3/PS4 no problem. Granted I haven't tried netflix as a native TV app. |

I was looking for ways for better netflix streaming and somebody mentioned qos
I turned on the qos feature on my router and have it prioritize my firetv stick ip address. The difference is absolutely amazing when using it, less buffer time when starting videos and streams to hd in seconds. Most importantly is no more sudden drops to blurry sd quality mid scenes and that was already on unifi. Using xiaomi router btw and tvunblock dns. QUOTE(alucard89 @ Feb 18 2016, 09:44 PM) What's the maximum quality for iflix videos now? Same here, haven't really used it since beta days on the PC.. So I just tried it on a Nexus 10 tablet and after about 5 minutes for stream to stabilize, it's watchable but on the 2560 x 1600 pixels screen, it's quite obvious it's not HD. Also, according to the tv series info, Malay & English subtitles are available but on the android app, I got nothing & no options during playback or otherwise to enable them. Subs work on the PC though. A quick run to their website's FAQ section... Under the question "Can I stream iflix in HD?" Their answer; "Patience you must have, Yoda. Our team is working hard to make this happen for you. Stay tuned!". So, this confirms my earlier suspicions that streaming quality is below 720p. Granted, it's still watchable. Finally, tried using the download now, watch offline feature & got error messages instead. Streaming was near instantaneous, so I'll give them that.1080p? Got subtitles now for the tv show/movies? I got to say, on my PC using my LED/LCD TV as monitor, comparing Iflix in SD and Netflix in SD , I actually prefer Iflix quality.
It looks closer to 720P although it's supposed to be SD, compared to Netflix SD which look inferior on my 3Mbps wireless connection. I guess Netflix compromises the Video quality in a more prudent manner on slower connection compared to Iflix. Both are of the same smoothness though. I guess Netflix compromises the Video quality in a more prudent manner on slower connection compared to Iflix. Both are of the same smoothness though. I have also tried both in sd on my 4K tv. Netflix comes out better. Of course, in HD or uhd, Netflix is excellent, as good as any full 1080p video with dd5.1, better than the 1080i of hypptv. No HD for iflix for now... maybe it will come after a year, when all free trials are over! |

While that sucks, I see why it would appear that way. Netflix and rightly so, believes that SD streaming are for mobile devices only and by that, probably 4" - 7" screens max. Even those have to be like 720p screens.. Retina ipads or 2k screens... Nah. So they don't expect subscribers to blow it up on a bigger screen like laptops, monitors or TVs. So when subscribers eventually do such, they raise their arms in helplessness & hide behind their streaming speed requirements.. After all, T & C applies. As for iflix, they best get their house in order, which is even more crucial, now that the bigger fish has swum into their waters. The point I was making was on slow connections, I feel Netflix decreases the quality more than Iflix. |

QUOTE(voncrane @ Feb 19 2016, 12:18 AM) Yup.. Keyword.... Also, are you on Netflix's HD plan? Cuz there is an SD plan... Netflix recommended speeds. Netflix prides itself on best results, hence higher minimum requirements. However, if you are able to optimize your network better.. There have been reports of better netflix performance.. Yup, Netflix works best in fibre connection. Especially if you expect Full HD or UHD quality. A bit trick about UHD though, I find if I use my android box (UHD capable), the Netflix apps seems to skip the UHD contents. But if I play diretcly from the tv apps, the UHD contents will be there. I'm not sure is it because of the android apps or the fact that I use AV receiver for my android box. For this, I play Netflix directly from my tv. Anyone have similar issues? It's mostly about international laws, censorship compliance, content licensing & all that bla bla... Cars, TVs, mobile phones, Internet, etc.. Are all cheaper in the states than here & while it's unfair, well....... Netflix did promise to increase content and I believe they will as soon as things are sorted out. However, do not expect to pay any lesser than the USA folks, cuz it might be costing Netflix more money to deliver content to Malaysia than the USA. $10 ≠ RM10.Hope they increase the content or reduce the rates. |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Feb 22 2016, 10:37 AM) because yr device is not netflix certifed but yr tv is. Oh I see.. Yeah, I'm yet to have seen or heard of Netflix 4K on a regular PC. Capable graphics card or not. Guess Netflix has to work on that one by improving their current Windows app or perhaps allowing browsers to handle it. I'm really rooting for iflix to be more successful, especially at the current price point which is slightly above FREE! Perhaps a couple of years down? Alternatively, could be a biz strategy & Netflix buys them. Won't be the first time a big fish swum into the pond & ate the smaller fish. netflix hd/uhd works very well even with WIFI! something interesting i found - PC can get HD but not UHD; there are some unique videos labeled "super hd" not seen on the smart tv. perhaps the pecking order is uhd4k-superhd-hd-sd. and the PC is between 4k and hd?! not skipped, all there, just the label changes from UHD 4K to blank for uncertified device, i.e. sd. Ah, the Neo X8-H Plus, while a capable device is definitely not Netflix certified.. The guys at Minix have tried to get certified, but Netflix is yet to respond favorably.. So for now, it's much more better to use the Netflix app on your TV, especially since it natively supports 4K. Compared to navigating an Android box's UI, the lady of the house simply loves pressing just 2 buttons (startup & profile selection) on the TV remote & she's scrolling happily away.. Exactly as you mentioned, I only can see the 4K contents like Daredevil etc only when I play Netflix from my tv.. |

Set up my Shield TV with Netflix flawlessly......maybe need some network tweaking again as Netflix viewing experience is still rather blurry "SD" type of resolution. or i just me as myself being spoiled with HyppTV 1080p resolution viewing.
Any workaround to force HD streaming fro Shield TV? i subscribed to Netflix HD plan with 30Mbps Unifi Advance. |

QUOTE(cruiseantz @ Feb 25 2016, 04:44 PM) Set up my Shield TV with Netflix flawlessly......maybe need some network tweaking again as Netflix viewing experience is still rather blurry "SD" type of resolution. or i just me as myself being spoiled with HyppTV 1080p resolution viewing. do you see the videos labeled as hd 5.1?Any workaround to force HD streaming fro Shield TV? i subscribed to Netflix HD plan with 30Mbps Unifi Advance. if there are, then all is good. unifi is having intermittent speed drops. it is possible hd becomes sd sometimes for a few seconds, maybe half a minute. |

hi guys, currently I watch Netflix US via Hola vpn, obviously using my Mac (mirroring to my TV).
Somehow I miss the 4K quality which is possible if I watch directly thru my 4K tv. Is there a way for me to do that, I mean watching US Netflix from my 4K tv? Do I need to set vpn in the router? thanks |

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon : The Sword of Destiny
3/5 from me It's very obvious this movie is very westernised for western audience, more of western cowboy than eastern wuxia Starring with mostly english speaking Hollywood asian actors/actresses in fact it has lost most of the wuxia feel compared to the original one language is a big issue here, watching it in it's original English feels weird, whereas watch it in Mandarin feels like watching a dubbed chinese movie where the lip sync are all out watching in mandarin with english subtitle even worst, subtitle are out most of the time. One plus point is the breathtaking beautiful scenery the rest? meh... No wonder it's not a major release in Asian cinema |

My Netflix was already expired , so was going to download the 720P torrent.
But now reading the reviews, don't want to bother. Netflix seem to be releasing bad exclusives , a perfect example the recent ridiculous 'The Ridiculous 6' This post has been edited by Ngto: Feb 29 2016, 11:52 AM |

true about unstable connection to netflix, even hd.
not normal but seen it yesterday and today. well... if TM/unifi keeps giving this crap, netflix will lose customers and have to drop Msia from its biz coverage. |

QUOTE Telekom Malaysia Berhad ™ wishes to announce that our consortium members have detected a fault on the Asia Submarine Cable Express (ASE) system off Singapore, which affected our Cahaya Malaysia submarine cable linking Malaysia to North Asia and the United States. ASE consists of 6 fiber pairs of which TM owns 2 fiber pairs, named as Cahaya Malaysia. We have immediately taken pro-active steps by optimising our networks to reduce congestion and diverting traffic to alternative routes, thus, minimising the impact to our users. The restoration works requires concerted efforts of all consortium members, and is scheduled to begin on 25 March and is expected to be completed on 31 March 2016. However, we wish to highlight that the restoration works will be subject to weather and sea conditions, identification of the actual location of the fault and the challenges ahead, working at great sea depths and pressure. |

maybe it's dependent on your location.
i had some buffering yesterday but managed to watch whole episodes of a documentary. i also managed to watch a full movie without buffering but it drops to sd 20% of the time. but for uhd 4k, i think will be very disappointing. |

QUOTE(nikrizal @ Mar 3 2016, 04:56 PM) come think of it, this happened at a time when unifi claims "pacific ocean cable problem". i can't help but suspect it was a unifi template excuse to cover up an operation to "clean up" certain things incl netflix. anyway, good if one can still get it. meanwhile, all my connections are pretty much back to normal, torrents full speed, local netflix 100% HD, nothing unusual. this mar 25-31 job may be just an eyewash. QUOTE(cruiseantz @ Mar 4 2016, 07:19 PM) Bonus question...how do i know i watch Local Netfli or US Netflix? Any obvoius shows that differeciatte between the 2? TV Shows examples.. The Flash or Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. not available on Netflix Malaysia. An example of unavailable movies would be "Django Unchained". These are a few of just the popular titles.. |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Mar 3 2016, 06:50 PM) come think of it, this happened at a time when unifi claims "pacific ocean cable problem". i can't help but suspect it was a unifi template excuse to cover up an operation to "clean up" certain things incl netflix. anyway, good if one can still get it. meanwhile, all my connections are pretty much back to normal, torrents full speed, local netflix 100% HD, nothing unusual. this mar 25-31 job may be just an eyewash. |

QUOTE(deepan84 @ Mar 4 2016, 09:24 PM) Yep, checked and can confirm that House of Cards Seasons 1 - 4 are available for streaming on Netflix USA.. It's been a long wait.. Consolation... QUOTE RTL CBS Entertainment HD on HyppTV (channel 616) has announced that it will air all 13 episodes of House of Cards Season 4 back-to-back on the very same day as the U.S., which will be this Saturday, March 5th starting at 4:00pm. The watchathon will have an encore on the next day starting at 8:00am. Only available on this IPTV service of Telekom Malaysia's and no where else (not even Netflix yo), House of Cards Season 4 will be shown in high definition, localised with BM subtitles and can also be viewed on the move via its mobile app, HyppTV Everywhere. Aren't you excited to see what Francis Underwood, TV's most bad-ass president (sorry if you haven't seen Season 2), will do next after the dramatic cliffhanger at the end of the previous season? Anyone has this error message on their smart tv? Sometimes its NW-8-17 or Ui-113.
Have researched extensively online but to no avail. Malaysian netflix can access no problem, but when I try to use getflix, somehow it sometimes show this error message. Have tried rebooting, resetting, logging out of netflix, etc but still always the same problem. TV is connected thru wifi, netflix is watchable on other devices on wifi tho. |

Other devices connected to wifi such as phone, ipad, laptop.can u clarify... u cannot get us contents with getflix on the TV but can get on other devices? what are these other devices? For some reason, this only happens with the tv. The TV (LG UF950T) is state of the art, and it can access online content. I have tried deleting and reinstalling netflix, still the same problem. Then I thought that maybe the TV has preconfigured dns, so I went to configure static routing on the modem, so that the TV only directs to getflix's dns. Have already flushed dns cache also. Still the same issue, sometimes it loads (rarely), mostly it doesnt. Very frustrating. And I have 2 LG TV's at home. Guess what? Both same issue. Malaysia Netflix on the other hand, loads super fast and no issue. This post has been edited by Shinka: Mar 7 2016, 11:08 AM |

Hi bro Shinka,
In addition to the DNS, think you still need to set the Smart TV Country manually to US if you have not done so. http://www.bestsmartdns.net/for/lg-smart-tv/ Best of luck! |

My DNS works as usual already for US content, but the stream is not a full capacity/resolution (guess due to TM undersea cable issues). Revert back to local streaming for that glorious viewing.

I don't think that netflix can target specific devices. Actually, I dont mind paying more if netflix has a worldwide plan that can let you view all of their international content. I just feel that Netflix Malaysia has very limited content. Just look at the amount of movies under the horror category. |

Yup. The movies for local Netflix is quite limited. However, I think the series offered are quite decent, at least it is more than what I can consume. However I do miss Netflix Canada which has quite recent movies. Hope this VPN/DNS thing gets resolved quickly.
In the meantime, I am watching the series available (Better Call Saul, Sense 8...) |

It's a game of cat & mouse between those smart dns provider and Netflix.
Netflix will blacklist certain smart dns IPs from their servers, hence blocking out the smartdns services until the provider change their dns to a new IP then again, once Netflix detected a new dns IP, blacklist and block again provider change IP again, Netflix block again, change, block, change, block.... till provider ran out of IPs to change, Netflix wins So enjoy your smartdns while you can, sooner or later it gonna get blocked again |

They don't care if some unsubscribe IMO those will unsubscribe due to region blocking is just small amount, negligible loss to them Majority of their users are US based anyway, and most international users are still depending on local contents. So yeah, very minimal financial impact on them Getting sued by those licensing company or license holders are a lot more costly for them. |

QUOTE(happyking4ever @ Mar 8 2016, 11:39 AM) Its all LICENSING!!... Think TM's Hypptv vs Astro... Astro has broadcasting rights for EPL games in Malaysia... Without express permission from Astro, no other company/individual can legally offer the same content within Malaysia, without getting sued and losing cash in the process.Take House of Cards Season 4, I'm guessing either TM or RTL CBS Entertainment HD (under Hypptv) has broadcasting rights; rights that were probably sold to them before Netflix expanded to Malaysia and now can't be offered by Netflix. Could also be some other restriction in place (cough gove..m..net..cough). So yeah, to those thinking about unsubscribing and all that... I've got news for you: 1. Netflix offers a full 30 day trial period.. Pretty generous if you ask me... So test, if you don't like... Quit! That's the point of a trial period... 2. The inbound revenue from amount of people threatening to or down right quit, is wayyyyyy less than it would cost for Netflix to fight just one court case. Reputable international law teams do NOT come cheap. 3. Most major DNS services offer a trial period, so use that to test out your devices before dropping cash. Also, if your are technical enough, free working DNS servers are readily available on the internet. Sorry, please don't PM me about this... 4. The entertainment industry is big business.. Big media control is a thing ... Netflix has been dealing with licensing restrictions etc for years, so they know their stuff... One only needs to see that the amount of Netflix-owned shows & movies have been on the increase. This is them, trying to regain control... It'll take awhile. 5. There's always iflix... |

I see HOCS4 advertised on Hypptv(although I am not a subscriber) so perhaps they own the exclusive rights for Malaysia, quite an error on Netflix's part if this is true. They must have planned their rollout for quite some time, so it would have been a strange decision. perhaps he meant s04. well, not so difficult - i got all epis of s04 1080p easily elsewhere. and i just cancelled netflix, will wait until local content improves. Perhaps there's a censorship approval required for new releases? I seem to recall reading that Malaysian Netflix content is subjected to Malaysia's censorship board. One I don't think Netflix would have done unknowingly or had no alternatives. So something is definitely up, quite strong too.. Well, we can only speculate.. Perhaps someone could have a chat with Netflix CS for an official response? Share their response..Perhaps there's a censorship approval required for new releases? I seem to recall reading that Malaysian Netflix content is subjected to Malaysia's censorship board. This post has been edited by voncrane: Mar 9 2016, 11:48 AM |

Our suspicions are correct, Hypptv has exclusive rights for Malaysia for House of Cards S4.http://www.colourlessopinions.com/2016/03/...sia-hypptv.html They also had the exclusive rights for season 3 , so it's some kind of legacy deal. QUOTE(pltan @ Mar 9 2016, 11:15 AM) I see HOCS4 advertised on Hypptv(although I am not a subscriber) so perhaps they own the exclusive rights for Malaysia, quite an error on Netflix's part if this is true. They must have planned their rollout for quite some time, so it would have been a strange decision. yes, hypptv been running HoC s04, day and night, all epis.Perhaps there's a censorship approval required for new releases? I seem to recall reading that Malaysian Netflix content is subjected to Malaysia's censorship board. that probably is the reason netflix is not "allowed" now. |

Hey all, just wanna ask. Let say I cast netflix from my phone to my smart tv.
Will 'casting' degrade the quality? Will I be able to cast 4k or 1080P content? Sorry, new to casting here. |

Once you cast, the TV takes over the stream and maximum resolution on the TV is determined by the maximum resolution achievable by the TV. Of course, network rules still apply..Will 'casting' degrade the quality? Will I be able to cast 4k or 1080P content? Sorry, new to casting here. |

QUOTE(thesnake @ Mar 15 2016, 10:01 PM) Pretty straightforward.. Nothing that has not already been mentioned in this thread.. Bottom line is, premium DNS + a decent Samsung smart TV. Unsure if this matters, but it's running the older smart TV OS & not the newer Tizen OS. The TV from first boot up has always been pointed to USA servers. |

P.S. To iflix... Reading this and require more insight? I'm open to communication via PM... Edit: Seems TM's connection's shaping up.. Since Friday, been able to stream Netflix @ a healthy 1080p, about 90% of the time. This post has been edited by voncrane: Mar 20 2016, 03:58 PM |

QUOTE(izzudrecoba @ Mar 20 2016, 05:28 PM) Netflix remains king of the streaming video but we personally prefer Hulu for the king of the latest TV show / TV series I was a Hulu subscriber back when it was still known as Hulu Plus and before they introduced the "No commercial plans"... Took them awhile though to implement such, as I and possibly many others found it absurd to be paying a monthly subscription, while still being served ads. A lot of ads, like you'd be forced at intervals to watch 3 or 4 commercials back to back with no option of skipping.. As for Hulu being the "King" of the latest TV shows & series? I beg to differ; however, out of respect, will play dumb |

We like watching Supergirls and Limitless on CBS. Woot woot! |

Receive the Fire TV Stick after two week from ordering from US. Should have order from Lelong and get it from Klang immediately instead.
Caveat: Don't buy this unless you know how to use Smart DNS. I use 7 days Unlocator trial. Unpacked this little box and plug it in my TV and power it up. Set up my Amazon account and connect my router to Unlocator DNS. Try to install Netflix. "Not available". Shit.. So found out that my Amazon account has already had Malaysia address. Have to create a dummy account to use US address. So use a fake US address (while on Unlocator) and key in my credit card number (Malaysia one). Google some zipcode, key in some dummy US phone number and viola, now can install Netflix. If you sideload any APK, it won't show up in the home screen. You can only run it via App Setup page. Netflix HD with 5.1 was smooth. Much better than plain Android version as the seek function will jump to HD screen fairly quickly. Too mad my Unlocator trial expired so I don't have a chance to test out US content. Will definitely keep my Netflix account until I finished Daredevil. Epic to watch Daredevil vs Punisher vs Elektra. That's just Amazon not playing nice with Netflix.. Amazon has their own video streaming service and would obviously prefer all users of the Fire TV to only stick with that. They made it difficult.. Since Netflix expanded into Malaysia, etc, they allowed the countries access to their app download using one's normal IP & DNS address. So DNS services are not required except for known reasons.Caveat: Don't buy this unless you know how to use Smart DNS. I use 7 days Unlocator trial.
